A tip: when you use the test kit drop bottles, hold them vertical. Slanting them causes the drops to be smaller, which affects the results. (Taylor warns of this in their instructions.)

I'll look on your channel for more pool videos. Seems I have a similar pool equipment setup to yours. I, as well, want to do my own pool service as we just had our pool done the summer of 2020. Thank you for this video. Looking forward to more, definitely!

This was super helpful! We've got the same systems only my pool is "spool" and about a quarter of your size. Thanks for making this!

I am enjoying your videos, but I saw some thing that concerned me. This is my first comment ever on a video, but I really wanted to share my experience with you specifically. Be careful with acid! I made streaks on my plaster because I didn’t brush the plaster under the location I poured the acid. I quickly learned acid drops straight down and if not dispersed fast enough, it will etch your plaster. It should fade over time but it was a hard lesson to learn. Now I always delete the acid before pouring it in and I run the brush where I poured the acid with inthree minutes.

btw, it's best to hold the reagent bottle perfectly vertical so that you get the full dose of the drop, if you hold it at an angle, you may not be getting the 100% of the drop so your reading could be off a bit

Who wants to swim under 60F? I mean, maybe it is the climate I live in, but why using clorine when the season is closing? Thank you very much for the vid it's nice of you to do that. 😊

So great tips!! Couple things I noticed. When retrieving your water sample it didn't appear that you went elbow depth which is a critical thing to do as the top of your water has very special conditions that would throw off your testing. Also I noticed when you put in your acid you put in a small area, when doing this you're actually lowering your alkalinity. To only affect PH broadcast the acid or pour it as you're walking around the pool. These are small details but otherwise your pool looks amazing!!
@KickinAus
@KickinAus 3 года назад
Frank, why does putting your acid in one spot only lower the alkalinity?
@frankalbergo1
@frankalbergo1 3 года назад
@@KickinAus alkalinity is your PH buffer so when you pour acid in one spot it will attack the sudden change. Where as if you spread out the acid over a large area its a much slower and natural change.

2 questions... why do you have a bypass under your return? you have a 3way return valve, and then a bypass pipe that would appear to negate the 3 way valve? Secondly how do you turn on and off your spa jets?
@how2togo
@how2togo 3 года назад
Yes my system does have a bypass. The spa jets have a bypass lever also but the pool equiptment.
@rjgmedia6298
@rjgmedia6298 3 года назад
@@how2togo ya but why is there a bypass between the spa and pool? what purpose does it serve? secondly does your spa jets run off the circulation pump? so when you turn your circulation valve to spa, you toggle return between the spa return and the jets? im asking because im in the middle of building a pool and trying to understand more about these valve settings. :)

Your plaster is etching. You have scale on your tile. This is from testing only once a week. Never add acid directly to water. Dilute in bucket 1st. Water is either etching or scaling. Use Orenda to ensure neither. Good luck.

The pool is Onyx with blue mixture. That's why it looks this way. Not plaster at all. Onyx pools are not as common but looks good and as durable as Pebble Tec for less cost.

Also any testing kit would use 2 or more drops of thiosulfate to dilute the chlorine to make the testing accurate. In this case youre just wasting chemicals. The green bottle is the thiosulfate and only is used to dilute the chlorine to be able to test accurately. You barely have any chlorine and even if it was 4ppm or under you dont need it

Also never never never go to Leslie's, they cost 3 times the amount as other mom and pop stores. Use then for water testing

The only time you should ever add chlorine to a salt water pool is if your inline chlorinator is broken or you have algae. . The whole point of the chlorination is to make it so you don't have to add chlorine. Clean your salt cell...man I pray nobody takes your advice , im truly not trying to be mean but you've done almost everything wrong.

not true at all, shocking a salt water pool is useful, and overrunning a chlorinator wears out the salt cell. What the hell do you think the chlorinator does? It creates chlorine from the salt, the by product is a base (which is why pH goes up). Salt water pools have chlorine, its dumb to think otherwise.

I agree w Jeff. Also…I believe it’s just a marketing ploy from Leslie’s for that “Perfectly Weekly.” Do you all know how much that shit costs? around 30 bucks. I’m not knocking Leslie’s, but they do try to upsell unnecessary items - not needed. The whole purpose of investing & switching to salt water is for cost effectiveness. All the chemicals that a regular chlorine tab & shock based pool is to eliminate said chemicals thereby saving cost. If it makes you feel better by adding unnecessary shit in your pool, & you can piss money into the wind like that, then knock yourselves out. Me? I gotta clean my pool - do my own maintenance etc. I don’t have that kind of money to have a “pool dude” do my work for me or other shit like that, so I have to save where I can. Btw… my pool is as clear & comfortable as can be. I just maintain my investment (the chlorinator) & I do weekly tests. I then add some muriatic acid or soda ash or even some salt maybe once a month. I spend less than 20-25 bucks every other month on my chems vs 200-300 bucks when I had a pure chlorine based pool.

Ok so if a child falls into your pool now the child will be wrapped up in a net drowning? Stupid! Idea! Do a video of you jumping into the net as you sink under water 💦
@how2togo
@how2togo 2 года назад
If the net is on correctly there is no way for a child to fall into the pool. I've had mine for over 5 years and it's the safest solution out there I feel.

Chlorine generators have a temperature range, once the water temperature goes outside of that range they stop working. Make sure you listen to what he says before criticizing. I live in Cali and have to add chlorine manually every winter.
@how2togo
@how2togo 3 года назад
This is not true. The chlorinator is temperatue controlled and stops producing chlorine at lower temp. At that point you need to turn it off and add tablets or liguid to supplment for non production.
