It's one of those movies that gets better and makes more sense as you watch it over again. There are a lot of subtle things at play here, and the way the whole tapestry was woven together is masterful. The shock value is also quite interesting too, because I haven't seen a movie that left my jaw on the floor like this did in a while. Quality review!

I had an x who was very weeding my similar to Oliver…he pretended to like my fam and love me when in the end…he hated all of us 😮 I saw so many sides to his personality incl him kinda admitting who he really was which I ignored, of course. I loved him. When we became friends afterwards, he revealed his true hatred for my family and it was after he acquired an adult career and just ghosted me. He even took me to Grand Canyon after we broke up. He wanted to walk into a deserted and dangerous trail during a thunderstorm! Rain is pouring down around us and the sign said, “DO NOT ENTER! DANGEROUS AND SLIPPERY TRAIL.” He kept begging me to go in and I refused and walked to the car. Eventually, he came back. I didn’t sleep well for the rest of the trip. My third eye was open.
I would like to recommend a very good show for you to watch, the name is 'fellow travelers' it's a mature romance that involves moments in the history of the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s and political dramas!
Great acting and great shots. Obsession and desire can be crazy and uncomfortable especially with a sociopath . It was always about Saltburn . It also makes you wonder if he ended up at that college because he had studied the family and knew Felix was there….. why Felix??? He had a plan from the very beginning. Great story.
i don’t think it was always about Saltburn. since Emerald confirmed Oliver was in fact “profoundly in love” with Felix, it doesn’t make sense that Saltburn was his goal from the beginning considering the first half of the film. his actions weren’t motivated by economic resentment because we know he’s not poor, it started with just Felix. he did anything and everything to keep him close and avoid his rejection, popping his tire as an excuse to speak with him, claiming his dad was dead when Felix started to push him away, but Felix’s fate was sealed when he started to see Oliver for who he really was, when Oliver realizes this, knowing there’s no chance at rekindling, that he’d be sent home after his party and likely never spoken to again, that’s when he kills him. but i think he immediately regretted it. Saltburn had to become the new obsession, something to blur that infatuation over Felix with. Oliver saying “And I believed him.” after Felix says he can leave whenever he want, it feels like it’s because after Felix was gone, he felt like there was no other option. though Oliver says in both the beginning and end of the film, “I wasn’t “In love” with him.” and goes on his monologue trying to show himself as this mastermind, a lot of people seem to forget the character narrating the story for us, is someone we know is a liar! it’s so well done. sorry for the rant, but this film grew on me quickly haha x
@@Maxwellish Was he profoundly in love with Felix or what he represented . I think he loved Felix because of who he was. He didn’t know Felix personally before the tire but targeted him…. He in the very end said he loved him but hated him he hated them all. Was he playing simple little Oliver but then turned or started showing his true colors with very specific intentions before Felix met the parents……true sociopath using sex and emotional manipulation. He never was who we thought and never changed who he was just showed us his different sides…… I don’t know but it’s an interesting story with conversations. I say it was a master plan played by a master mind who knew from the beginning what his purpose was and followed through. He was always the monster in the story.
That's a fair point! Thanks for sharing that. Afterall the first time he saw him through that window he didn't know he was rich or had a nice house. He also may have desired him due to how everyone seemed to approve him.@@Maxwellish
i deffo agree he was never the character we thought he was, Barry talked about how they put together these different personalities to make you unsure on Oliver and the way he shifts throughout the film, but i said specifically “profoundly in love” because that’s exactly how Emerald aka the director of the film worded it, and to me that makes sense with the topic of obsession. and knowing that Oliver is a liar, i feel it’s in character for him to want to be portrayed like he was a mastermind, when in reality he’s just taking the best out of a situation he ruined. i think it’s 100% up for interpretation! x i’ve heard so many cool perspectives on it.
