SAMBAR South Indian Style for Soft idly, Plain crispy Dosa, Crispy Medu Vada.
This South Indian Sambar so easy to make, This traditionally Sambar is super delicious, flavoured,
aroma from seasoning mustard, cumin seed & curry leaves just heavenly
It is a staple dish in South India homes & is also equally popular & loved by many.
it’s spicy tangy, salty of sweet
You can enjoy with Soft idly, Plain crispy Dosa, Crispy Medu Vada.
Ingredients
11/2 cup Toor dal (washed & rinsed)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds powder
1 tomato chopped
1 small onion chopped
1 drumsticks (3” thick cut)
SAMBAR SPICE MIXTURE
-1/2 cup thick tamarind pulp
-2 jaggy tablet
-3 tbsp Everest readymade Sambar masala powder
-122 cup water
-1/2 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder (optional if you want extra heat)
-Mix & combine all together and set aside
Salt to taste
-Add to pressure cooker washed & rinsed Toor dal, enough water 2” above the dal, add salt, turmeric powder, fenugreek seed powder,
Mix close the lid and allow dal to soak for 1 hours.
-After 1 hours pressure cook Dal until soft (3 whistle)
-After 3 whistles turn off the flame allow pressure to release naturally
-Now open the lid add drumsticks cook until tender
-Add Sambar mixture (Sambar powder, Jaggery, tamarind pulp, chilli powder,
-Bring it to a boil simmer for 5 minutes , Adjust taste (if you prefer more salt, sweet, sour, spicy)
-Let’s give tadka
-TADKA/SEASONING
-1 spring curry leaves
-3 dry red chillies
-1 tsp mustard seeds
-1/2 tsp cumin seeds
-3 tbsp
-Heat oil in a kadai once the oil nice and hot add mustard seed allow to pop, turn off the flame now add dry red chillies, curry leaves & cumin
-Pour this tadka over the Sambar.
-Serve this super delicious Sambar with crispy Medu vada, plan dosa, soft Idli or just white rice.
-it’s healthy.
