Just found your tutorial - very clear demonstration. I appreciated the explanation of the actual drops and rings, something that most flosstubers gloss over, assuming everyone mysteriously knows these things!! Thanks indeed 😅

Funny, trying to get a better understanding of starting to do floss drops vs the bobbins I was I using and I find one of my knitting people that I follow for knitting. 😊. Happy to follow you here also. Next you should do quilting so I can follow you for that hobby also. 😊

Thank you so much for this! As a beginner stitcher (just started this week and working on my first project but getting ready for my second) this is exactly what I needed! I kept seeing floss drop products on Etsy and Facebook but had no idea how to use them and the fact I could use them to pull a thread out ready for stitching. This is amazing and I can't wait to get some and organise some floss :D

You are so welcome! I was looking for a tutorial like this when I first started stitching, couldn't find it, so I made one! Happy stitching.

I never cut my thread too short when putting it on my floss drops even though I stitch only over one. Because you always end up with left over floss and this will be used again in other projects where you stitch 2 over 2. Its better to leaven them long and pull one string out, cut it in half and put the other half back onto the floss drop. You can also use floss cards with two holes next to each other. One for the uncut floss and one for the cut ones. So you can use the cut ones first.

For a fairly new stitcher you are doing amazing work. It took me ages to get to grips with cross stitch. I love your samplers

If you live in Canada, clean plastic from milk jugs, make indestructible, long lasting, Floss drops that you can make for free. Used 2 different mechanical punches and a hammer, to punch through the plastic, and put holes in mine.

Thank you for taking the time to show this😁👍. I'm dreadful for losing the No. tag so I usually put the thread through the tubelike tag and tie a loose knot😁

Nice idea. In my point of view, I don't like sewing with a thread to short. I prefer longer. If we cut DMC thread in a new floss, we must have the same dimension. I don't know how to do it to have a good dimension and the same dimension for all thread. But it's OK. Good idea.

A great, big, gigantic thank you! Like you, I watch Flosstube and see thread stored on drops and thought, I need to explore this option. I order floss drops, they arrive and I am left oblivious as to how to go from a wound skein to a loose floss on a drop. I am so appreciative of your demystifying how to do this process!

Thank you so much Christee! I made this video because I too had no idea how to use floss drops when I first started stitching. Enjoy the process! (I really love doing it). 💕

Sure wish I had found your video an hour ago...possibly more 😆 First one I have come across that shows how to pull out one strand. Here I was getting ready to seperate a skein into 3, 2 and 1 strand sections and put them on their own tags 🤣 So, a huge thank you! Woo hoo And for what it is worth, I leave the two tubes on to unravel a skein. Just pull the one end and voila - have a nice untangled pile to fold when I'm done 😃

Hi, I have just found you on RU-vid and subscribed. I have also recently started to put my floss into drops from keeping it unhappily in bobbins for years. I have seen your method for unwinding a skein to put it into the drops and it has filled me with apprehension. I’m sure I could not manage to do it so calmly and assertively as you have done, and I would end up with countless knots. Here is my alternative method: since DMC skeins have approximately 8 metres, and for working with a loop at the start and double length, I go measuring lengths of 80cm and cutting as I unravel the skein carefully to the end. It yields 10 threads of 6 strands. Much less stress I think.
@samplerstyle
@samplerstyle 2 года назад
That sounds like a cool method, I'll have to try it. Thank for the suggestion! (And thanks for the sub!)

Hi Sharon! I was wondering how this was done. I dabble in embroidery when I'm not knitting or spinning and was trying to figure out how to organize my threads. Thanks for the tutorial!! Good Lord.......I'm finding myself being drawn towards cross stitch. :-D

I really enjoy your channel and totally appreciate that you should be compensated for your efforts, but I find the volume of ads on your channel to be quite high compared to others. I hope you are not offended - I just wanted to explain why I'm unsubscribing for now. Thanks and enjoy your summer.

Hi Gia, I am not offended at all. I thought that I had turned off Mid-roll ads in my videos, but for some reason it got turned on again. I have turned them off for all my videos, and future videos won't have them. I hate ads too, so I completely understand. Please consider re-subscribing!

@@samplerstyle Thank you so much for not being offended - I am re-subscribing immediately! :) I imagine this video production process must be super time-intensive, and greatly appreciate you taking it on and your excellent content. All my best

@@gia8070 Thank you so much! I'm no stranger to video production, however, RU-vid can be sneaky about adding features that we don't want. Someone else pointed this out to me as well and I thought I had gotten all the videos, but I went through again, and now it is fixed. I appreciate your feedback! XOXO
