I’m a career psychiatric RN and I’m impressed with how you look at the dog’s entire self not just the physical health and outer appearance. If the emotional needs are met and personality is respected everything else will fall into place and should go smoothly. You are so skilled with recognizing that you will be more successful overall if the mind is focused on first. Thank you for what you do.
I love the update on him or on any of your dogs. I am learning a lot about the behavior of our fur baby's and I am learning how to be a better dog Mom. 😊
So glad Sampson has adjusted. I rescued 3 dogs and this last one was a challenge. You are right about giving the dog time and space. Once I did that, the rescue began adjusting beautifully. It was my desire to have it happen "right away" and the dog just needed more time.
Lee, you are doing a great job sharing information on introducing new dogs. You seem to be an exceptionally patient and kind man who is intuitive to animal behavior. I love watching your video content. I hope you don't worry about anyone who might criticize anything you do. You and the Asher House staff are all amazing, compassionate people who know what to do and how to care for all your rescues. Thank God for you. God bless you and God bless The Asher House. Hugs ❤
Thank you! Yes, incredibly, short amount of time for Sampson to adjust and to feel safe. Great job, thanks for sharing. He's one special dog, but they all are their unique, beautiful selves. 😎💯😊😀🤩
This is fantastic . I have a dog that was abused by someone that was obsessed with dominance theory . People so often mistake a fearful dog for a dog that needs to be dominated . My dog was a dog that would lie down on a leash . The volunteer who abused her thought the dog wasn't respecting her. She dragged the dog on a choke leash until she had a seizure . I'm glad you respect and understand overwhelmed doggos.
Thank U Lee for making this very SPECIAL video about your HANDSOME SAMPSON ❤ EXCELLENT information about the importance of dogs needing to show their boundaries as do us humans....! I feel as many have already noted ..U have an incredible gift of truely knowing HOW dogs need their adjustment time & how well U GRASP & UNDERSTAND this with EVERYONE LUCKY DOG who has come to find their INCREDIBLE NEW LIFE @ The ASHER HOUSE ❤ It's WONDERFUL to see how each progresses & is a testament 2 EVERYTHING U do & all the ASHER HOUSE staff that bring each precious life SO MUCH LOVE ...DEVOTION ...COMPASSION... & GIVING of your hearts 💕 GOD BLESS U ALL 🙏 ❤️
So happy for Sampson! I was thankful for that video. We recently took in a stray who was a hyper puppy and our dogs did a good job of setting boundaries with her and she did a good job of setting boundaries with them. That video helped me understand that was normal and now they are all settled and doing good together.
Thank you for the update! I was worried about him and he looks great. German Shepard and Golden retriever is a super mix. A very smart and sweet dog.😊😊❤
You have gave valuable information about bringing home a new furbaby, Especially an adopted from shelter, our girl just wanted to hide abnd be quiet. I really think shelters should give alittle guidance.
You did really teach me as well with the boundaries. I have a cat and a black cat keeps trying to come in. They don't get along. I wanted to take the black cat in but I have to respect the cat that I have and he now knows that I got his back so thank you very much. Samson is a little beauty and I hope he finds his forever home
Thanks so much for this video. I never knew this about dogs. I’ve never had a dog. I’m a cat lady. But I always like to learn new things about all animals.😊
Thank you for Sharing How are you introduce the new dogs to the pack love I am new to your videos glad I was told about your channel. Keep up the great work.❤️👍🤗
Lee, please share what brand of CBD you use for your animals. I need to get some for my old dog that's hurting from arthritis, and I don't know what to get. BTW, thanks for the update on handsome Sampson.
I didn't realize that the sanctuary dogs are up for adoption. Good strategy because otherwise the continual adoptions will have to have an end game. Sadly can't adopt them all.
Thank you for explaining Sampson’s behavior. My dog does set boundaries by showing teeth to other dogs she does not feel comfortable with, so she has been rejected by multiple doggie daycares unfortunately. To give her play date opportunities, I do invite my neighbor’s dog to stay with us during the day. This is how my dog can have play dates. Although I love my dog and have accepted how she is, your update on Sampson helps me to understand my dog even better. Thank you for everything you do!
Great news about Sampson, and thanks for making such an important video. I've volunteered at shelters, and it was absolutely heart breaking to see dogs being returned in such short periods of time. Anyone who rescues is a rock star, but please give your dog (or cat) time to adjust. Hire a trainer if necessary to give you some tips but please just give them a chance.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH for enlightening those who didn't already understand you have to give a dog time and NOT NOT to run back to the shelter dumping the dog off! THANKS -- You have just saved many other dogs ❤❤❤❤❤
Lee, you have probably helped so many new dog adopters. This is incredibly valuable information, and I hope you repeat it often for your new listeners. Sampson is gorgeous.
Just had a situation where I was all ready to foster a dog because the people had brought in a puppy and the dog was being mean to the puppy. I had to go out of town for 10 days, and told them I would take the dog when I got back. By the time I returned, the owners said that the dogs were getting along, and they did not want to give up the dog. I was so happy that they kept the dog. It was a Maltese/Poodle, and from what I have read they become extremely attached to their families. Lee is right. Give your dogs plenty of time to adjust.
❤ I am so touched by how well you help everyday to do God's work. Your love and bond with all of these beautiful angels is Amazing. In a time where we see more and more need for love and affection for our babies, here you are. You share so much with the world. God Bless you for being fully present for our beautiful babies. Deeply touched and blessed with all your videos, thank you for keeping us aware of this beautiful life. I get a little winded. But I cannot express enough how deeply blessed to be abled to see you love❤ them all. So wonderful. Much love to you my friend and to the Pack.we our Blessed to have our for baby Sir Grizwald.Cardigan welsh Corgi most of all our Best friend 😇
We are all different and deserve to set our own boundaries! So glad to see Samson do this and for you all to accept and understand him as he is.💕🐾☮️ p.s. IMHE, adoptions and fosters need two weeks at least to adjust. Some will adapt sooner, and then it's more the ppl who need that time!😅
Lee 🥰 this was a brilliant video to share because even though he showed his teeth to a few dog he didn’t to the 2 younger pups standing close . To see him just with the pack living his best life is awesome, once again thanks for showing us the journey of a gorgeous boy . Xx
Lee, I have had many dogs, breeds, mixes, ages, over the past 60 years. I have learned a lot from them, each brought different lessons, backgrounds, needs. And you, Lee, are teaching me things I haven't learned on my own. Thank you, buddy Lee! 🥰
Thank you for teaching us these little snippets of doggy behaviour, as an owner of a very gorgeous but stubborn Lhasa Appso 1year old, I’ve found it really helpful watching your pack and yourself with your dogs. Samson is beautiful, he really stuck in my mind after seeing that first video of his and I was wondering how he was getting on. Thank you and your staff for all the wonderful work you do!! 😊🙏❤️
Hi ,Lee I'm sorry for not keeping in touch with your videos .I've missed so much n get lost seeing after a long gap .Anyways I go through sometimes n get overwhelmed .lv u n yr team for doing such a wonderful job . Lv yr pack ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing this, it can not be said enough, some people don't understand that this is appropriate behavior, with proper introduction the dog can learn to trust again, 👍
These vids are so important. People paying attention will learn so much about dog behaviour. This vid alone could be saving hundreds of dogs from being returned to the shelter by unknowing and impatient potential owners. Just a bit of knowledge, time and patience is all that's required to make a successful adoption, . Thank you Lee. Asher gold, yet again. 🐶♥️
Sampson is the kind of dog that would be the main character in a Disney cartoon/movie. So beautiful, knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to let others know it. Definitely a gentle leader!
He is a beautiful dog!! It is amazing how he just melted in with the rest of the family!! Thank you for sharing and letting me see that he is as amazing as I thought!! Have a great day. I love you always!!❤❤❤🥰
Sampson was never hostile towards the pack, he communicated clearly. Very good dog behavior, he is very well socialized, not every rescued dog is like that.
Sampson is gorgeous! Happy that he is getting along so well with the precious pack! You do a wonderful job showering these precious babies so much love! ☺💖💖💖💖
I think this is the biggest lesson I’ve learned watching this channel. If a dog ever growls or shows his teeth to another, honestly, I’ve always said NOOOO, AND gotten onto the dog. Always thought it was the dog behaving badly and I would immediately try to scold it. Now I know better and understand what our dogs need to be able to do for themselves 👌
My adopted rescue dog, she took a year to fully adjust, then she wouldn’t leave my side. One of my most beloved dogs. Always give dogs (any animal) time to adjust, we don’t know what all they been through. Thank You for sharing, Lee ❤❤❤
Agree. My newer rescue been with us almost a full year and a half she's only 9lbs, only now snuggling up in a different way more of a trust and doesn't scream randomly and pee herself. She was in a abusive locked away past. Yes she still has a few things we're working on but not everything makes her cow bell down to the ground. All animals take a lot of work and patience and they teach us more and more. We all need to hang in there.
It's wonderful to see the realisation that something as simple as learning to speak dog can makes. So many people simply ignore the signals a dog gives and go charging in, then they wonder why they get snarled at or worse
I think he is standing in the middle of everything thanking God for his good fortune to have landed at the Asher House. It’s wonderful to see the dogs communicating. For some viewers it will be like learning a whole new language. This could be a whole other series of videos teaching people how to speak and understand Dog!
You are remarkable human and the world is blessed to have you in it. Your genuine loving kindness is an example that many can learn from. Everything that you take the time to explain and demonstrate with your animals, honestly applies to people in many many ways. Thank you for everything that you and your team do!
I really agree with you. I was thinking that Lee was giving us a really important lesson to give animals time to adjust to a new situation and thinking that it applied to people too. 😊❤
I agree with you Lee. My adopted dog was not happy when I brought home my new puppy. She showed her teeth and would growl at Lucy but there were no fights. It was all about boundaries and getting to know each other. Then they were fine!
Samson is amazing. You’re recognizing all of his qualities. You are smart . I trust your judgement in every situation. Love the Asher House and all that you do. ♥️
Kaj drugega nisem niti pričakovala od vas, gospod zlati.
Being someone that has rescued a lot of beautiful dogs, I can attest to the fact that you have to give them time. I’ve had dogs that were severely abused and dogs that were simply surrendered. Bringing a dog into your home does not mean they will immediately love on you, love your other pets or even love the home…. They need patience, understanding and space. They can be scared , unsure, confused… DO NOT GIVE UP!!! EVERY dog I’ve brought home became loving, playful, gentle, the best part of our family!!! Give them a chance to find out who they are and where they belong in their new home! 💜🐾🐾💜
I definitely learned a lesson here. If we as humans are thrown into a totally new situation like this, wouldn't at least some of us need time also? Glad Samson is thriving. Thanks for the life-lesson also. 🙏
It took nearly a month for our golden retriever to accept the labrador pups we brought home, when she suddenly started to play with them it was wonderful to see.
I love how you introduce them to the pack and let them be themselves and comfortable. You show them so much love and security. You are such an amazing soul. 💙
So glad you mentioned about returning dogs to shelters as aggressive when they may not be at all. It sometimes results in the dog being put down, so hopefully people will take your excellent advice and not do that without giving the dog a chance to decompress.
