There’s absolutely no way one can go wrong with either phone. The cameras and resulting photos keep going back and forth between the two for me. Since I’m no expert I’ll be quite happy with any one. Almost settled in my mind to get a Pixel 6 Pro still. Excellent comparison as usual.
In short, With photos, both P6P and S22U are neck-to-neck in term of picture quality. However, when it comes to something that is packed with tons of features and camera modules the S22U will be the winner but for anything that a normal person would do like taking a normal photo, the P6P will be the winner because it does the thing better than S22U (better details, dynamic range, white balancing, dark mode, etc). The photo styles on 2 devices are also different with S22U pushing the color tone way more vivid than P6P while P6P try to maintain its photorealism. With shooting videos, the quality on both devices are fine with S22U a little more jankier on some situations despite having a more superb image stabilization. However, the audio quality when recording the S22U just blows the P6P away. Front videos recording are both equally bad lol.

Awesome comparison Grant, what a time to be alive. I don't think I have ever been this excited about smartphone cameras. Kudos to Samsung for being competitive and even shining in some areas. Thanks as always for your hard work.
Thanks very much for sharing. You just have to know your cameras strengths / weaknesses. I have the pixel 6 pro - the main wide camera is amazing and the 4x is truly amazing at 4x if you hold steady in good light, but it's not great punched in. The selfie is not great and neither is the ultra wide, but both very useable in good light with steady hands. The Samsung doesn't have any major weak points, but then it's way more expensive.
Fantastic comparison, I prefer the pixel on many of the examples shown mostly down to colour but the s22u is a beast, such a flexible camera system. I wish I could have both but I'm happy with my pixel 6 pro. 😎

Wow...what a great review. Watched several trying to make a decision, but this was by far more in depth with great side by side shots & Video. Not sure if it made it any easier to make a choice, there looked to be pros and cons on both, but both very nice!
This is closer than I thought. Back and forth here with which I liked better. Samsung may be only an update or two away from taking this competition considering it has better hardware and better zoom capabilities. All comes down to software and color science. Google has always been able to do so much more with so much less hardware because of their magic software lol. Great comparison Grant!!
Thanks Joe. Agreed, Samsung for flexibility (zoom, pro mode, expert raw, etc), but I still like Pixel for point and shoot. Samsung portrait mode has come a long way since "live focus" and is also possibly the best now. Although, not much need for it with the large sensors creating natural bokeh these days.

This was the bast camera comparison I have ever seen. You show flowers blowing in the wind and each phone taking the shot and the result. You run for the stabilization test. Night shots showing the Night Mode timers showing the Pixel taking twice as long or more to get the shot. When you are talking you constantly switching the audio input between the phones. I love this!! Keep up the great work! Pixel seems like it wins this overall, but I hear the phone is still buggy and antennas are not great.
Yes sir... Thank you. The thing with the pixel has that is appealing is the pop factor. Their pictures come out with a noticeable pop. Look at pets hair on the pixel, compare to Samsung phones..
Both really good cameras. I have both of these phones. Sucks Samsung still struggles with that slow shutter. Horrible smoothing on the dog pics as he moves around. Pixel always the best phone for capturing your kids and pets while moving and bad lighting

@@ieadarshs1218 I used the S21 ultra for 6 months and bought the pixel later. Now I exchanged my old S20+ with S22 ultra exynos in UK. I had to return S22 ultra because of screen freezes when getting incoming calls, shutter lag any time of the day, worst battery life without gaming and using camera for 10 to 15 mins. Lag when swiping through home screens. What else do you want me to learn about Samsung. I'm a fan boy who used all the S series phones from S1 to S22 ultra (Din buy the S10 alone). I know a lot more than you would imagine about Samsung. I too was blind like you before, but atleast I realised now, Samsung is not good at flagship game. I still use Android because I don't like IOS.
Great stuff. I hope Samsung gives the Galaxy Z Fold 4 the same camera setup, probably without the 10x camera. Because the Pixel Fold will otherwise definitely have the best camera on a foldable.
Both excellent cameras at the end of the day. Just depends what you value most, consistency or versatility? Pixel as a reliable shooter with good results in all situations or Samsung's ability to go from ultrawide to far away without loss in quality
I seriously wish Google would provide and pro video mode with more options like Samsung because I prefer pixels front camera, rear and video but love the versatility of the Samsung camera.
Just a question how is the 120fps video on the S22 Ultra in pro mode I would assume it has it my note 20 ultra has it and I was just wondering how it performs.Great video as usual!!!
Do you think the S22 Ultra is worth its asking price? The videos especially in low light although decent for a smartphone, is still far too grainy. I think its still very far away from even a sub $800 point and shoot camera. Was thinking of simply going with a cheaper phone and than buying an actual compact camera for the photography and videography needs.
It's been 2-3 months since I've watched any comparison videos, and I gotta say I'm super impressed with how the Pixel's portrait mode edge detection has improved! There's still room for a tiny tweak here or there, but it's leaps and bounds better than it was when it was first released. The next thing I'd love is if they dial down the sharpness a little, especially on the zoomed-in photos of the birds, but it happens on the regular and portrait ones too. (especially the dog pics) I still prefer the Pixel photos in most of those cases, and actually prefer the extra sharpness in some photos, so it's obviously a fine line and personal preference that might be hard to hit just right.

I thing I can definitely notice is that S22 Ultra has much better audio quality in video than the Pixel, both front and rear cameras, when compared Pixel's audio just sounds like muffled. And I noticed Pixel does tend to over sharpening on portrait shots. Samsung however still needs to catch up with night photos, Pixel still edges out night shots over Samsung
Tough, since there's no best at everything. Best all around is probably the Vivo X70 Pro+ for me. Great main camera, great ultra wide, best in low light, nice telephoto, periscope and long range digital zoom when needed, even video looks great now. Just not the best selfie camera with no front cam video stabilization. After that, I'd say S21 Ultra or S22 Ultra for all around. Then Pixel 6 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max.
I think in the video focus test the samsung didn't think the post was something worth focusing on and chose to keep the leaves in focus. AI at work. Try on your dog and I bet it would focus quick. Can you do a video on the adaptive pixel feature and the difference it makes? I like that you show 100% crops and seem to upload your videos with minimum compression. Some reviews seem to be encoding the youtube version at low bit rate and it's almost pointless to compare the images or video since the post processing has completely destroyed the quality.
6:50 - I think it's the regular Pixel 6 that maxes out at 7x digital, the 6 Pro should have 4x optical and up to 20x hybrid. Also I have no idea why many people claim the video is much better on the Galaxy then the Pixel, they look pretty similar in terms of quality here...
Both have their own strenghts, pixel main camera seems to have stronger natural bokeh (chameleon pic) and pick up a hair more details (bear painting on the wall), other than that they are very much neck on neck, only it's a bit uncomfortamle to see Samsung often touching near zone 10 of gray zone area (over exposure). But Samsung's tele/zoom quality is very difficult to beat. Pixel's colour and the scenery looks more natural while Samsung still has bit more pleasing to the eye with now leaning more to the naturalness. The bad sid e of Pixel is it's availability and it's ongoing issues
Camera is doing well. Indeed. Just missing macro and a better zoom. Hopefully next one will have that . And a true 50mega pixel camera 📷 you can use all the pixels . And few more pixels on the front camera. O and better finger print scanner lol 😆 but for the price i got mine £600 for the pro. Carnt go wrong. 12gb ram better speakers all so. Stick with that 😇😇😇💜
@@chigga25 shutter lag motion blur, artificial light photos not as crisp as iphone or pixels, night photos below average may be need few updates, haptics good while typing not good when feeling vibration missing calls texts on vibrate mode,battery life average,but it improves on dark mode,refresh rate doesn't go to 1hz,always sits lowest at 24hz,just not as good as advertized.I feel my xiaomi 12 takes crisper night photos and half of S22U.Iphone falls short few areas to S22U but again if you in the apple ecosystem,everything is seamless and battery optimization is off the charts. All androids are plagued by battery issues due to Google service's which are battery hog.

The motion blur on my S21 Ultra photos drives me nuts too :/ Now regarding the 24hz thing, actually the system does NOT show the actual refresh rate, because it doesn't have access to this information. So while it might show 24hz, the display itself could be at 1hz (or anything in between.)
@@YgorCortes I guess these are all Samsung issue and most likely won't be fixed.If you do not care much about zoom and s pen and can live with the notch and slower charging I still feel Iphone 13pm is overall good if you are in the ecosystem.
Just goes to show that the front camera 📷 ment to be 40 mp on samsung yet there seems to be more detail on the 11mp of the pixel. All ways been the same since note 10 s20 etc claim to have a high front camera. But a 8 mega pixel front camera from my google pixel 3 xl looked way better.. 👌 wish samsung would sort that out . And all so do a wide selfie 🤳 like they had on there samsung s7 ))
Honestly, I don't know, but I find the photo-video processing of the S21 Ultra better, especially in terms of HDR and colorimetry. If only Samsung thought of using the GN2 of the Mi 11 Ultra for its main sensor and its Ultra wide angle, I dare not even imagine the result. It is still them Samsung who designed this sensor which for me is currently the best photo sensor of all smartphones combined. I wonder how much this sensor (GN2) costs so that Samsung continues to serve us this useless 108 mp HM3 🤔. Ps: I haven't been able to test it personally yet, but I have the impression that this S22 Ultra has almost the same focus problem as the S20 Ultra, not really at the same point but quite close.
I think the sensor on the S22 is quite a bit better, tones seem smoother. The Pixel has the software edge in low light detail but the processing is still very oversharpened
Pixel's video quality has been improved so much since the launch, the video was noisier and bad quality. Can't wait to see what enhancement Google can brought to Pixel 7
I guess S22 ultra was barely better than Pixel 6 pro. Apart from the 10x optical zoom, there is nothing going for Samsung. I returned my Exynos S22 ultra which really sucks in low light and optimisation.
