Nice review and appreciate the update text about the Sub. Once you get used to it, it is enough and certainly not in need of an additional Sub to compliment it. The voice enhancement mode is never actually needed as the sound separation from real channels is good enough.
After watching the review, I finally bought it on 8/8 sales at about US$850… I’m totally impressed! The subwoofer is shaking my ceiling! Great for movies. Going to buy the NVidia Shield TV for full Dolby Atmos experience.
Excellent expert review, and entertaining too! I sincerely hope Samsung watches this and takes all your terrific advice for improving on a good product!
Hopefully you can do a review of the A7000 now that Sony has stated that in 2022 a software update will enable their new 360-degree sound mapping technology (like the A9 has) and the A7000 will be getting an optional up-firing rear speaker package with wide directional woofers, dome tweeters, and dual bass radiators.... This is a game-changer.
Good review! How is the bluetooth connectivity? Did u place the rear speakers behind your couch or on the sides? How about compatible rear speaker stands for earlevel placement? Best regards
I love the humour and the delivery of the review!! Between a Sonos Arc + Woofer, Bose 700 + Woofer and the Samsung above, which one would you recommend? Mainly for movies and music, i've heard there are lip sync issues with the Bose system, but others are bland when it comes to music quality. Your thoughts please!!
I just sold my bose 700 set, and visited my friend who uses the Sonos Arc system. I was impressed by the sound. As an audio freak and musician I can tell the bose has a more crispy natural detailed sound. The sonos has also detailed sound but for sure not as good as the Bose. I will visit the shop this weekend to listen to this Samsung Q950T.
Just picked up my Q950A for under 1k. I can't for the life of me figure out what was going through the mind of the engineer, when they put that screen on the top🤔🤔🤔🤔. Luckily I have a Samsung TV and once you get everything set up you really don't need to look at the screen when you're using the Arc port. Very happy with the sound quality, it is Sennheiser-ish. Though I got a smoking deal, I do think the system is worth 1500 bucks.
Its worth $1800 which is a steal compared to sonos and sony at around $2,300 to $2,500 for their similar sounding tech , and i got mine on sale for $1600 at Best Buy weeks ago. How are all you people finding it this cheap. Its still new and the selling well while the next iteration come out in months sooo no need to drop it that low??? I find it hard to believe you guys, especially if you bought yours 8 months ago when it was brand new on the market???
This is a true story, look at the video of your upcoming 2021 soundbars. I asked you to rate this specific bar poorly so my wife would stay off my back about wanting a new soundbar. You replied you would make sure it was reviewed poorly. I believed you, just like I believed Samsung wouldn’t be so stupid this time around and keep their display on top. Thoroughly let down by both. Shame on you and shame on Samsung. For the record, I bought the q950a from Amazon Warehouse for $1150 a few weeks ago and the system is great, just like your review. Good luck on the house and I look forward to your next video.
Thanks for this great review! Will you be reviewing the Q900A too ? Some people (myself too) don't want (don't have the space for) the rear speaker installation.
I just got myself the Samsung Q950t brand new for $1000 hopefully it works fine without issues, I wasn’t aware about this issues until I saw your other video 🙂
Great review. Sincere thanks. As a newbie just wondering if the rear speakers should be faced outwards so as to bounce off the walls, or inwards towards the listener(s)?. Thanking you in advance,. Have seen one youtuber digest that they should be placed facing outwards, but I'm still not sure.
The only reason you want to bounce off walls is if there is not a physical way to have sound directly pointed towards you. Like on the side of a soundbar or upward firing speakers. You most definitely want to point rear speakers toward you.
I have the 950T and paid 1k for it. Is it worth doing a full comparison to upgrade to the 950A? I've seen a few reviews but I am still not convinced the extra 2 rear side chanels and a few new features can justify an extra $600. The 950T has firmware 1017.5 when I bought it and now its 1019.5. Now I'm hoping that Samsung will release another update to allow fine tuning equalizers instead of just bass and treble (similar to standard mode advance EQ).
Hey! Thanks for the reviews, helps alot. is the improvement from the Q950T worth the extra 300 or should i go with the 2020 model? Thank you in advance! Your opinion is highly valued!
Great review. Thanks for your hard work. Bought this one instead of the T model due to your review. I agree this is a very good soundbar and one to beat
Thanks for the video. I wasn't impressed with the subwoofer on this, but saw your text update that you figured out something that made it sound better? Could you please share?
Nothing really, I just kind of started to feel a little differently about it with time -. I think it’s not bad but could definitely be better. It lacks some precision
Hi… I bought the LG sp11ra and I’m not happy at all with it. I can’t wait to watch your review to understand if something is wrong with my set up or the soundbar really sucks. Thanks
😂 We initially read/watched countless reviews, rang Samsung & spoke with them, visited Specialist Audio Stores - large Stores that sell everything electrical went into Audiophile We Pages - I did read if you have vaulted Ceilings it is not suitable - you need lots of Speakers…why do you think Samsung has fabric on their Soundbars - there is a deliberate reason ?? This guy hilarious - he is typical of… ••• Love these so called Audio Experts doing Reviews in lounge rooms, bedrooms etc. They have No Testing Equipment - They are not Audio Specialist - you Click on Like - they make money !! Hahahah ••• 😂😂
i am about to buy Hw 950a in a day or two . Any other issue you've faced with this sounbar for LG tv's . I have a LG c9 tv and i will connect all my devices(ps5, 4k bluray player) directly to my LG c9 Tv through earc and then select passthrough in Tv audio settings . I belive you are also doing the same . My main concern is that i get full fat Dolby atmos through Lg c9's passthrough mode. Please suggest . or any other suggestions you would give with your experience would be very helpfull. I had earlier Hw q950 t and it gave me lot of troubles , i am just worried that Hw 950a does not give me same troubles as it is a serious investment with respect to my Lg c9 .
Good content but let me clarify something. You mentioned you need eARC to play lossless audio and I think you confused lossless audio with uncompressed audio and high res audio. You actually can play lossless audio through ARC. ALAC ( Apple lossless audio codec ) is a lossless audio but it is compressed and you can play this through the regular ARC. Blue-Ray players and game consoles can play High Res uncompressed audio like Dolby TrueHD codec which is a higher audio quality than lossless audio.
Hi Rafael, you seem like you could answer my question. If I have this soundbar connected to my tv via EArc will I get lossless quality ( not hi res ) if I am steaming from the Apple Music app on my smart tv? Or can I only get it by connecting an Apple 4K tv? Thanks.
Hello , ur reviews are very helpful and I have been a fan of your channel for a long time. I would like to know which sound system I should buy which has both Dolby atoms and good music which should touch heart ?? Ur suggestion will be really helpfully. Which is the best ?
I mentioned on the other post I bought the 900a, and that was a great purchase. Two things I hate the fabric and the display on the top. But the bar sounds amazing and I still don't have a tv with earc. Can't wait to get that
I have just bought the Samsung HW-Q950A sound bar setup you have in your video. Just waiting for it to arrive. Where can I purchase the Dream Stands you showed for the satelite speakers. Amazon the only source is it.
Ok I may be late to this party but hot damn. Do you make great entertaining/informative videos..also it can't be just me but this dude is funny as hell. I mean all the info is stuff I know already it just nice to receive it in a cool smooth well edited way. So 👍to you sir. And for as this soundbar..yeah it's the one I want just waiting for the right price and approval from the war office.
I placed an order of the Klipsch Cinema 1200 and now the waiting game begins. Hope it'll be worth waiting for as I got it for 1350 including tax and shipping before the price went way up.
Hi, very good review. Just a question. I have a Samsung Tv Q series. I have a small little living room and acccording to my budget, I don't know to buy Samsung Q900A or JBL 9.1. Could you please recommend?
I connected a PC-2000 to my ambeo - yeah you’ll never want another theater in a box ever. I own a sonos arc setup as well and it is wonderful in its own way, but i gravitate towards the rumble, sub-sonic bass most of the time.
Hi Thank you very much for replying to my previous message I really hope you read this message as well because you are the guy a rely on the most when it comes to sounds & HIFI solutions I want to buy a sound bar system but I'm on a budget. I want to chose between LG sn11rg or Samsung Q950t? Which one do you recommend? And is it worth it to really stretch my budget to get the Samsung Q950a over one of those two? Especially they almost cost around 900 US dollars where I live while the Q950a costs around 1,360 US dollars Thank you
Great Review. I would really appreciate if you could help me decide which would be more ideal between HW-950A(BF price 999euros) Vs SN11RG (BF price 600euros) for my Sony 65inch XH95 given their current prices!
I remember your review on the Q950T and you were disappointed with the dropouts and the overall experience especially when compared to the LG SN11RG. Has the Q950A been improved on this aspect?
I have a Samsung Tv and Im considerings this soundbar. The reason im considering samsung sounbar is to utilize q symphony. Do you think that this is important factor when desiding which system to select?
Did you connect your video sources directly to the TV or to the sound bar? I found connecting the Nvidia shield directly to the sound bar awkward. I had to change the source each time I turned on the TV.
I am looking to buy this speaker, do you think it will work on our very high ceiling? Can you recommend where is the best place to mount the rear speakers please
Some advice would be very much appreciated. I have sound mode set to STANDARD. Sound output [AV]SOUNDBAR Q950A. Bass boost OFF. When watching a 5.1 movie, there is no sound from the rear speakers. I thought STANDARD was used to play back whatever you are watching in it's native format, in this instance a 5.1 movie. The rear speakers do work for me when in SOUND MODE I select surround, game, or adaptive. Is this correct? Is that normal? Or am I doing something wrong? Am I misunderstanding STANDARD? Thank you to anyone in advance.
Thanks for the awesome review…getting really confused between Bose 900 ,Sony hta7000, Sonos arc or this!! People around me keep saying premium quality audio and speakers was never a Samsung thing compared to Bose and Sonos for example which are more specialised in that field and that keeps me from buying the q950a even though most reviews recommend it… What would you recommend? Your opinion matters a lot and will help me make an easier decision… Thank you!
Reviews seem to dictate that samsung beat sonos with this model, but not the previous samsungs could. I just bought it weeks ago after reviewing for about a month.
If you factor in value, then the Samsung blows both out of the water. You would have to spend another 7-1000 to get the full surround sound, and sub. If money was not a option, then the Bose 900, with the 700 sub, and rear speakers would be my choice. Considering cost, I would buy the Samsung all day.
@@neverenoughtech Thank you for your response. I hope you don’t mind if I ask two further questions, namely, does the Q950T have cut outs anymore? And , have you found that the Q950A is good enough to make you switch over from the Sonos Arc?
Dear sir have you noticed in surround sound mode frant left & right channel are muddy sound and both channels sounds goes in canter channel that’s is loosing sound quality. Pls update to Samsung engineer to improve that DSP sound quality for premium sound.
Hi I have a question that I hope you can help me with because I couldn't find a good answer online I am planning to buy the 11.1.4 samsung Q950a soundbar or the 7 1.4 LG sn11rg sound. But how does such a sound bar play a soundtrack of a movie or a game that is designed for 5.1? What do all the extra speakers do in this case especially the up firing speakers? Do they just not work or do the play sounds in a way that all sounds become mixed up because the soundtrack was designed for 5.1 only?
For each speaker most sound modes mix up to the full channel count regardless of source. They both use Dolby software for ionizing smarts. Don’t worry all the drivers will get used.
Could get the q950 a at 1200£ or q950t at 700£ in uk...is a massive difference between them? Is worth to pay the extra money? At the moment i am.using a logitech z906...no dolby atmos...but i have an nvidia shields pro and understand with one.of this soundbars.i can get the dolby atmos.i was confused because my SAMSUNG tv Q8FN doesnt have dolby atmos..or EARC.
@@neverenoughtech thanks for the reply. been debating whether to go with standard or the other modes, cos that thing you said about choosing standard for the most accurate reproduction of sound really stuck with me.
Oh yes I've pretty much convinced myself I need a surround sound, I was keen on the jbl bar 9 for the money but this has me wanting to spend the extra coin
If you want Dolby Atoms (LCPM?) through a game console do you have to connect the console directly to the soundbar or can it pass through the TV? Basically I want 120hz gaming and Dolby Atoms - hopefully without having to switch the ports whenever I go back and forth between gaming and media.
@@neverenoughtech So if I have the right LCPM on the TV I can plug the console into the HDMI 2.1 port, the bar into the eARC and be good to go for Atmos? I've heard connecting a console to a soundbar can cause latency issues so I'm trying to avoid that.
Purchased it after the review! So happy with q950a but I can't seem to play dts files on it. Either with shield TV, Xbox or laptop. I want dts so bad, please help!
Hello, nice review. What about connecting bar to Projector? those don't have ARC, just normal HDMI. will I get Atmos? i just want bar to pass video to projector and sound from bar. thx
I’d have to kind of play with your setup. Normally projectors without ARC are handled with a receiver/amp setup that takes filters audio to audio equipment and video to the projector. My guess is that you can plug your video/audio source straight to the bar and then pass the video to the projector via the bar ARC port. If the projector does not have ARC it won’t pass audio via HDMI. If you need audio going from projector to soundbar you’ll have to use optical or analogue - whatever audio out your projector offers.
i dont understand i have same soundbar and cannot works amazon alexa. in rewiev i can see amazon alexa is working. i have tried everting. maybe somebody can help+++???
ok how about the SONY HT-A9....or the Sennheiser Ambeo with a SVS SB3000 sub....or the Samsung Q950A..or the Arc / 2 subs / SL ones....thx from Canada...cheers
@@neverenoughtech So I guess that means that some can be expected at loud volumes? I have a q800a and am wondering if this is normal. Appears many ported subs will do this if pushed hard, so should I not really worry about it?
Yes you should expect some it to some degree. If it’s the case that it kind of bothers you to know it’s happening but maybe can’t really practically hear it - I would say rest assured that plenty of other systems will make similar noises. Do you find the port noises to be way out of the ordinary from your experiences?
@@neverenoughtech That's good to hear! It isn't super audible or really distracting and I do have to turn it up pretty loud in order to for it to occur, so I wouldn't say its out of the ordinary. I just wasn't quite sure if it was a normal thing, but it appears it can be so I'll probably just not worry about it. Thanks!
I bought samsung q950a soundbar 2 days back but now that klipsch cinema 1200 has realeased i am wondering whether i should have gone for klipsch..any advice plz
Thanks Daniel for the review… me and my daughter enjoy your reviews with loads of side fun… I have one question: If I have budget for both: Samsung Q950A vs Klipsch 5.1 home theater system…. Which one would you recommend to me to buy?
