Holy crap that’s awesome! I just fixed the door latch, the piece was broken but I was able to drill a hole in the latch and hook it on! Thank you so much!
This video was great! My wife looked it up and we did exactly this. One thing we found is that a small plastic section attached on the inside of door where the latch piece fits into, to lock the door to the main microwave. This part was broken off. Therefore the spring could not hook onto that section. However the spring has two hooks on each end. So we jerry-rigged the bottom hook🪝 of the spring by attaching that end to the side of the door edge. The top hook of the spring fit exactly in the latch piece that fits inside the edge of the door (as per your video). So if you find that the plastic part has broken off, this will work to keep the spring with tension so the door can close into the main microwave. Hope this helps anyone. Thanks for your video (short and specific) easy to understand.
THANK YOU for posting this. You saved me from buying a new microwave. I watched other videos showing the replacement of the latch piece where the nub that the spring attaches to broke off. Looked easy, but when I pulled the part I was surprised that the part was intact and the spring broke off from the door. I was about to price a replacement door when I found your video. Easy peasy fix.
Thanks a ton!!! Was about to give up and buy a new one despite this one being only 3 years old. Video was simple and straight forward while the microwave works as good as new
I truly have to thank you.. I was already looking at having to buy a new door or new microwave.. I seen every video and all were about the latch breaking not the hole on the door.. Finding your video was a blessing.. Was done in 15 minutes.. Thanks again..
Being good to the client again! The door being the radiation barrier, work on it is best done by a pro like yourself. But if the homeowner worked on a door, would a radiation leakage check be advisable? Can such a device be bought? Thanks for another great demo.
So the original spring location is at the middle of the latch piece but since the actual piece that belongs to the door is broken, you moved it to the bottom? Is that correct? My broken pieces are on the actual door, so I'm going this will work. Thanks!
