Fix a microwave door that won’t stay closed

In my case, it was not the spring, but the plastic tab on the hooks that broke. But I was able to bend the end of the spring, just enough to hook it around another point along the outside of the hooks. It required removing the hooks entirely, which is another chance to break the plastic that the door is made of, but it worked. And then the spring and loop was able to get purchased around the outside of the hooks without binding against the plastic edge of the door. All went back together and so far, so good…

The latch stopped working on ours too. I took the case off first to check if anything was broken. When I didn't find anything, I Googled and found this video. I'll try to fix anything before I just replace. The plastic on the door that the bottom spring attached to was broken off. I actually drilled a small hole in a metal tab from the front face near that location and stretched and reshaped the spring. It attached and everything is working great! A BIG THANK YOU for this video!

Walmart junk. I had an older giant microwave that lasted for more than a decade. Doubt I'll be successful fixing. I was just cleaning it & shocked door wouldn't close.
