Just ordered this screen, arriving in a few days, i was unsure I'd done the right thing, but this review has made me feel better about my purchase! thank you!
I got this monitor last week. Going from a flat panel 1080p 144hz to the G7 is massive. I was worried about the big curve and I do notice it when web browsing but when in a game I forget about it very quickly. Really happy with the purchase.
Just ordered mine now! :D I've been watching lots of videos about the G7 from creators like Hardware Unboxed and Linus Tech Tips etc for the past few weeks now and also looking at various other monitors in general and it seems there's a lot of positive reviews surrounding this monitor and so I just decided to go "fuck it" and go for it. I was a bit 50/50 going for a curved monitor but it appears it's something you can get adjusted to quite easily and also really makes you more immersed in games. I enjoyed your review on this monitor too, definitely helped towards my decision to purchase it.
Im thinking about picking one up. Never used a curved display before. But the specs on this bad boy make me want to give it a try. Im going from a 4k 60hz to the 1440p 240hz with HDR should be a nice improvement.
This review really reassured my decision - next week my ZOTAC 3080 and the G7 will arrive. Really, really excited coming from a GTX 980 and a 24" 1080p screen.
Hey man! So Im thinking of buying this monitor. I assume youve been using it for a few weeks now, so can you reccommend it? Im worried about it getting wierd while gaming with a 32 inch screen. Also can you set up 2 windows on it? (For streaming and such) Hope to hear back man!🙏
Bought it then 1 month later i turned to get something of a rack behind me and the thing fell of the table swing arm mount i had set up, all my fault did not set it up properly, shattered the screen, they wanted 600 euro to repair it so i said trash it can get a new one for that price. Its a heavy monitor :)) I LOVE THIS Monitor so i have to buy it again. The curve when playing is hardly noticeable and its not as insane as some make it out to be...... but wow if you like flight sims this thing is great. Ordered a new one today great thing is its on sale for our black friday whatever its 400 euro beats 600 something for a repair. So cant wait to see it again. Good review its what made me choose this monitor. Thanks
@@NFS_ethereal When the screen is black as it is just turning on, it's bad. But during gameplay it's obviously very hard to notice. The screen has really good contrast levels. Deeper blacks than IPS panels. I have had it for almost a month now and I have nothing to legitimately complain about. Fun fact if you care: One of the things I like most about it is that there is little to zero ghosting when the response time is set to it's maximum (non-MBR) setting. Sometimes I'm playing single player games with the response time set to maximum and I don't even notice. Whereas on my 27 inch/1440p Acer predator monitor, if I left the response time at maximum while player single player games, I would notice EXTREME ghosting when moving the camera around.
Okay, Had stop in the middle of the video to say! I have your joy stick, and I have your record player, so now I have you monitor. So I'm sure I'm going to love it!
My first flat panel monitor was a Samsung S27A950D, and even though it was a TN monitor, the image quality was nice, and the 3D was amazing with the upgraded glasses. Having a look at the picture quality of current Samsung monitors, I can say I'm quite impressed. My last monitor was an Asus PG348Q which I regret purchasing because the screen cracked with just a little pressure during cleaning. Asus refused to back its 3yr warranty so I'm switching back to Samsung. This is the monitor I am considering. Thank you for the detailed review.
@@ollieharrison4747 Despite reservations, I actually ordered the Asus ROG PG329Q as a tryout. Asus has a specialized desk mount for their ROG monitors which doesn't require the removal of the monitor arm. If the picture quality doesn't look great, then I'll be switching to the 4K Neo G7 or the PG43UQ. These days I watch movies on my monitor more than I play games, so contrast in HDR is more important to me than speed.
You convinced me I've been using a 59hz 15 inch monitor for the last 15 years so I'm sure this will be a nice upgrade. Thought I'd by a new water-cooled 3090 pc and so needed something to match
Is the drastic curve annoying to use for stuff other than gaming like doing word docs, excel, web browsing, netflix, etc. Ofc ill be using it for gaming as well.
Upgraded from my 4K60hz to this monitor but 27 inch and eveything is awesome aside from the fact that I can see the pixels, the 4K is just so much better in PPI. I'm gonna keep it for a few months and upgrade to a 144hz 4K.
Nothing is overkill unless the hardware is making the monitor meet it's maximum refresh without breaking a sweat. Needless to say, nothing can really do that, even for 1440p. I mean, unless you play easy to run games.
Im guessing the curve on this would not be very good if you was to use it for creating art or anything involving strait lines? Was thinking of getting one but was worried it would be not good for art applications
Hi, just saw this video now, because I bought one today, I have one question if you can help me...the Display port cable included, should I use it or is it worth to buy a really good one?
Hey so did u get used to curve? and are there any flickering issues with gync?(lots of people are complaining about it online) also how are the colours on the VA. i have a 4k ips 27 and i quite like/got used to the colours so im hesitant to go with a VA.
I've had it for a almost a month and it's absolutely amazing for gaming! Very quick response times with minimal ghosting compared to other monitors. The refresh rate, response time, and minimal ghosting combination are probably best-in-market and when paired with the 1000R curve on 32 inches it makes for one hell of an immersive experience. I love it and really don't have anything to complain about yet. Hope you enjoy it like I do brother!👍🏼👍🏼
I find my colors to be very washed out, and very dark when using HDR. What color settings etc do you use? I’m also running a 1080ti so I’m not sure if that’s where my issue is since I can’t run 10bit colors
I have the 27" model and with my rtx 3090 HDR looks how it should. Not as bright as my 1000nit 4k HDR screen but not weird looking, looks right just not as bright and some highlights are crushed on some games as they don't have a nits calibration setting. Windows 10 with HDR on at 50% looks perfect in the desktop also. I'm using in HDR custom setting with baclight and contrast at 100, warm 1 and gamma 2 with black equaliser at 13 and local dimming on.
Im waiting for a flat version of the G7 which was announced for 2021.. 1000R curve makes this monitor useless for even basic video or photo work. Purchased a 165Hz IPS 1440P monitor instead for the meanwhile as I don't only game on my monitor.
I wish HDR was added on this. You notice the lack of pop in the TV. Also when you get flash-banged in duty screen goes black ⚫️. Other then that.... the monitor is insane.
This, it's so simple to google articles about it or for help/advice. Unlike when I need to search my TV, I have to go into settings to find the name, and even then the results are skewed!
Can't decide whether to get this one or the new 28in 4k version 🤔. Seems like a really cool monitor and seems to have better reviews than the Asus I was wanting.
I ordered one. I hear a lot of problems with quality control with samsung monitors, but I'm going to update the firmware and run tests to see if it flickers or has scanlines. if so I'll just return it. but spec wise it looks like a very good value if you get a good one.
Might sound a bit dumb but does anyone know how to connect the Astro a40 mix amp to the Samsung g7 monitor? Can’t find an optical port like it was on my other tv ? Any help
Nice G7 and good luck getting 240 fps in 2k! I am rly happy with my fullHD Benq XL2746S and 2080 ti. To be fair I "only" play games like EFT, Valorant / CS GO and CODWZ
You could easily run 1440p off a 2080Ti with those games, and many many more no issue. You can always drop it to 1080p for the really beefy AAA games if need be.
Everyone keeps saying you see pixels on a 32 inch 1440p monitor. Can you please tell me what distance from it you start noticing the pixels and how from what distance is very comfortable and sharp to use?
Hi, just to let you know there is a channel that has copied your video and uploaded it on their own channel. If you search samsung G7 and set the filter to this month it will come up. Its called something like 'Best Monitors'.
confused if samsung g5 34" is better due to 21:9 aspect ratio against 16:9 on this one. but g5 is much less in spec compared to this and 1000r curvature is a must for me so not much other choices now.
all i care is about color my basic use samsung laptop's Qled display will blow most mac's out of the water i just purchased the 32" g7 for $450 with my edu discount which is an awesome deal
I see a lot of people complaining that the flickering isnt fixed even after the latest Firmware Update. Could you please confirm on that? I am keen on buying it soon. I just want to be sure
hard to say, I have flickering only on one game so far - rainbow six and its not all the time, it has something to do with game engine and lightning I think as its certain areas that have it, other games I havent seen it in yet and Im really liking the monitor even with flicker , i have gsync turned off fyi
@@brandqc9236 it's called screen tearing and that happens when your system is not strong enough to drive your monitor. 4k 60hz is easy to run compared to this monitor. What is your set up?
My current 27" asus 700 uk pounds monitor is now 4 years old, and it seems to have developed a shaded / pinky mess along the bottom, most in the bottom left. I've never used a curved monitor. Also now I work from home and use the same monitor so do a lot of windows stuff. Great review. I'll book mark it for now. thanks EDIT - 32" might be a bit big, what is the alternative monitor for about 27" ?
My man you're opening the box like it's a sexy piece of lingerie. Take it off slow, baby. Nice review, but I ended up going with the Acer Predator XB273U GX because I really dislike the curvature of this monitor. I don't see why you need that in a monitor of this size. Maybe it makes more sense for the super ultra wide G9.
I have no problem with the curve because I use an Odyssey G6 1080P 240Hz and the only reason I’m looking at this monitor it’s because I want a bigger, one with the same specs, except not 1080P
Mine just arrived. Coming from a 27 inch. It feels kinda huge to be honest I'm kind of skeptical. But I'll set it up tomorrow I don't have the time now.
@Ivo de Vos I sent it back. It's too big for me. This is for someone that plays single player games and racing games. I play fps 90 percent if the time so I couldn't settle down with it
I just bought this monitor about a week ago and it's great. My only complaint is that the pixels per inch is relatively low compared to a 1440p 27 inch monitor and you have to be aware of that when purchasing this. I read somewhere that this is the same pixel density as 1080p on a 24 inch monitor. When playing games at native 1440p resolution, you will notice the pixels more than on a 27 inch screen. This is really only noticable on single player games in which you're focusing on the picture a lot more and focusing on small areas of the screen for longer periods of time. This problem goes away for the most part when playing single player games at 4K. When playing faster paced mutiplayer games, the screen really shines because of the refresh rate, response time, and the pixel density is largely unnoticable because your focus is elsewhere. This also depends on how close to the screen you'll be sitting of course. I sit around 2 feet away from the screen, and maybe a little farther away when playing single player games with a controller. The farther away you sit, the harder it is to notice pixel density. I would not say that this is a deal breaker because it's just an objective fact of screens of this size. There are trade offs with everything. 32 inch screens with a 1000r curve offer unmatched levels of immersion, but you have to be aware of the tradeoffs. With this monitor in particular it seems to only be the obvious pixel desnity loss from 27 inch and THAT'S IT. So still one of the best monitors on the market, and every other 1440p 32 inch will have the same problem and potentially other problems specific to those monitors so keep that in mind.
I don't own this Odyssey, but I do have a 32 in. 1440p monitor from LG and a 1080p 24 inch display as well....I have to say that you are pretty spot on with the pixel density. I'm not the biggest expert in displays, but they look pretty similar in that regard.
@@alexvswrld I have this Odyssey and a 27 inch 1440p predator monitor, so I have not been able to confirm the 1080p/24 inch pixel density comparison. Thanks for confirming it for me! It's really interesting how those two sizes and resolutions somewhat equal out in the end.
@@thecooljohn100 Yeah honestly I love my big monitor, but I think 27 would have been perfect for my personal setup...and congrats on the Odyssey, I'm sure it's a beast!
hi bro, i m thinking of getting g7. but confused between size, 27 or 32. since u got 32, do u feel eye strain while playing fps games?? is 32 too big for a normal monitor distance???? or its fine then i'll also order 32inch
I dont know if im too late, but what ive seen, some people think that the 1000R curve is a bit too drastic on a 27'', so as far as i know, most people like the 32'' more, i've not seen anyone complaining about it being to large.
You arent supposed to move the display out of the box before mounting it to the stand. It says so on the box. You run the risk of bending the panel / causing stress to it etc by not doing so.
@@MagicAyrtonforever no need to take out the screen to mount it on a vesa arm, it is difficult and dangerous to lift the 6 kilos of the g7 and aim at the same time on the arm ......
Hi there, I have the option to buy Samsung Odyssey G7 LC32G75TQSRXXU 32" or HUAWEI MateView GT 34 with a soundbar 60% of my use is for video production, and programming and the other 40% is for gaming (Xbox series x )should I buy Samsung or Huawei? thank you
I’m so unstable, which one would you recommend me for odyssey g7, 27 inch or 32 inch, i’m looking for movies, studying and games. Also is it worth to upgrade with 200 dollars?
@@lor7780 i bought 32” and i recommend you which is more immersive. Btw i wish there’s a 34” version because ultrawide screen and QHD+ resolution looks pretty good. If you have a proper place and money for 32”, you can buy it with no hesitation. G7 is indispensable due to 240hz, colour gamut, contrast and 1000R with a affordable price.
@@lor7780 when i test it, i can say that it’s on avarage but when you’re using at movies, games whatever, it’s impossible to notice. It doesn’t have any ghosting and the flickering problem has been removed by the new drivers
@@sanjin.p it’s marvelous and splendid but there’s an issue let you know. Despite updating latest software, it has a bit flickering in some videos. In the games it’s not flickering but in some videos. For example if the video is 1 hour length i can have this problem for 30 secounds but i want to emphasize, not in every video or movie also i’ve controlled with my smart phone and another monitor, videos doesn’t have any problem. Btw i’m using it via HDMI cable maybe it’s relative with HDMI therefore i will be going to service, i hope they can solve this problem :(
With the extreme curve the 27" feels to small, 32"is perfect. 4K is of course better, but you also need a GPU that can manage the higher resolution with the same amount of eye candy.
actually just got one of these from Pb Tech on black friday, I really like the monitor and have it vesa mounted (note: you cant use the "jet engine" plastic piece when vesa mounting)
If you got the money for super high-end GPUs and can keep upgrading them, go for 4k 144hz. If you like competitive games and/or want to achieve higher frame rates easier, go 1440p 240hz. 4k is very heavy on GPUs still, 1440p 240fps is like 33% easier to achieve than 4k 144fps. I have a 27in G7 for about a week and I can tell going from 1080p to 1440p is a very nice resolution upgrade. 4k is not for me, as good GPUs are too expensive here in Brazil.
27'' is too small for 4k reason I sold my pg27uq best 4k pc monitor I ever used I ended up going for oled tv as a pc 4k monitor and best decision ever on site support so if I have any issues panel goes out or anything they come to me to fix the problem I won't have to pack it back up but I am looking to get the alienware 1440p 240hz ips monitor next to go alongside it and its a bit faster than the odyssey so is the new acer but the acer is only gsync compatible
Basic principles, if you have a 4k you can choose any resolution up to 4k so since this is 1440p you can choose any up to 1440p but you won't be able to choose 4k. So yes you can go down to 1080p if you want more fps for more demanding games like battlefield warzone etc.
Only one cons in this monitor, is that there is no 4k resolution, and HDMI is not 2.1 but 2.0, but in all is a good 240hz monitor. Btw, of course today we have 360hz monitors already
What is the required desk space for this monitor having a hard time deciding between a 32 inch or a 27 inch version of this monitor it will be much appreciated thanks.
From many reviewers complaints 27 is kind of the gold standard for text in 1440p. But people have complained that the 1000R curve is terrible for 27 since it's narrower and gives the illusion that the monitor is smaller. So it's a trade of between clearer text or better, more natural curvature
@@iiSup3rior it also depends how close or far you sit from the monitor. I have a 27 inch model and it looks perfectly fine when I sit close. It really comes down to personal preference though
@@JamesWolffPiano yes exactly. Mine sits far back about 2 feet. 32 is perfect. And I was actually looking at a cx which is only 48 for the smallest I think. It's not an option for me unless I put it on a swivel and move it way back
