hello sir, ...I have a Samsung plasma PS43E490B3R., the problem is that there is voltage drop on VS and va, initially when I plugged then vs voltage shown 209 and va is 58 but instantaneously vs comes to 10 volt and va zero. .....so please detect my tv fault. ...and guide me that what I can do. ...? plzzzz tell me sir....

For reference this model series tv PN43D440D/450D/490D had a service bulletin for repeated failure of the X main pcb. It can be found under Samsung's GSPN bulletin ASC20110506002. After repairing or replacing the x main on these models the FW must be checked. If the versions are lower than the following the FW MUST be updated to prevent repeat failure of the board. D440 version 1006.6 /D450 version 1006.6 /D490 version 1013.8. If the versions are equal or to or higher then the FW is ok and does not need to be updated. Production months of Jan and Feb are the most ones affected but i found several march and april productions that had the older FW. Samsung made corrections to the X main drive timing on the logic board itself which is the root cause of the x main failure to begin with ( under most circumstances ). The FW updates the main first then the tv restarts and then updates the logic. The logic LED blinks rapidly as the FW installs as a verification.

Right, I did check this when I repaired the set I had, and the firmware was 1006.6 so it didn't require updating, so that is why I assume that the failure was grounding related. I didn't cover this in the video as I had already finished the video when I tripped across the bulletin, so it is good to bring this to peoples attention.

@@Ochibason you download it from scamsung put it on a usb drive and update through menu. I had to update one of my led sets as it was rebooting on its own.

+amtpdb1 That's the reason to disconnect the x main and y main. Had it shut down once the x main was disconnected I would have disconnected the x main. Had it still shut down then I would be looking at the power supply. I always do this unless it is something obvious like bulging caps. Gives a place to start. I have been repairing electronics for over 30 years. I did take a break for 10, but it is all coming back very fast. I do this for the challenge as my current job isn't very challenging. Place wires, connect and provision equipment. Could do that asleep. Troubleshooting Makes me think.

Shop-Jimmy?! oh, that's nasty of you :) At least it's not just a bunch of caps that went bad, it's bunch of screws. Anyway, only use for plasma I see today is as a short term spotlight.

+Piotr Misiuna I am not endorsing them. I have purchased from them in the past and did have a problem board that they promptly replaced. A to plasma TV, until oled sets become affordable I, and many others that are concerned for pq will keep them going as long as possible. Lcd and that includes th led back lit types don't have acceptable contrast. I have a 4 k monitor on my computer, and a 42 1080 plasma sitting next to it. The 4k is sharper by far, but for looking at video and photos, the plasma beats it hands down. Ultimately I will get a 4k oled TV. That is once they loose the curve.

Well, I do :). Probably they do a good business, probably they are honest and reliable supplier, but their YT repair videos sucks hairy balls. You are not aspiring to that level, don't you... at least I hope you don't.

+Piotr Misiuna I have not watched any of their yt videos. I don't generally watch yt myself. I make a few videos a post them, but I don't watch many at all. The one I do watch are generally so great jazz concerts that have been archived, and some time lapse photography video.

Me thinking we see more plasma TVs being fixed because people want to repair them because you can't buy a new one. LCD or LED backlight are a dime a dozen, and besides they are mostly not repairable so people just toss them out.

+Jim Reardon Never thought of that one, but you are right. Some people prefer the picture of Plasma. I certainly do myself, but once OLED becomes affordable that will be the tech I go to personally.

Can’t believe it , I had to 2 Samsung 50” plasma screens crack and split on me just by trying to left it to a table with out the back cover on it I was repairing crazy have this ever happened to you ? And what did I do wrong ? Good thing they belonged to me !!

I have a cracked 51" sammy plasma. Watch it every day. Panel is burned to crap now because local tv station has logo on news and it had burned into the screen. Still use it. Will run it till it drops. Repair on that one is on my channel.

12voltvids But this crack was bad and ran through it like a broken windshield in a car , Thanks for your reply I watch you all the time and really appreciate all you do , I noticed that Samsung Plasmas are the only ones I had do that Panasonic’s never did that at all the front glass is thicker ohh , by the way I have a main logic board here that the chip has failed and need heating I saw your video on that l have that exact TV with the same exact problem how can I make one of those type heating lamp you where using there ?

Maybe the fact that they have a kit with just the parts you need says they know what fails when their stupid screws come loose. I would at the very least put a split washer on the critical grounding screws... I guess its how they make money hah!

+Jay Walt Panasonic issued a service bulletin on their ground screw problem and issued new screws with lock washers on them. I don't know if this kit has this or not. Will have to wait for the parts to arrive and I will do a follow up as this set will be repaired.

+12voltvids Cant wait. Your videos are awesome. I have 4 or 5 TVs at my dads place that have problems other then cracked panels. This will be the first thing I check. I find it interesting when people bring me TVs with cracked LCDs and how perplexed they are by the fact that a replacement panel is as much as the TV! Do you run into that alot?

+Jay Walt That's because the electronic that drive the screen are mostly on the glass these days. Cheaper to buy a new set. I like the plasma TV myself. They work with high voltage a are quite complex. A challenge sometimes to diagnose.

@@12voltvids Dude its not there it went into Sam Sung led dead set UN65H700 then it went into Sharp vertical lines on another try when I fast forward it to the end I even put in a search on youtube with your tile with the Samsung Plasma three clicks and everybody else video showed up on the click propblem but the second part to this video is not there and I tried everything . Thanks anyway

i know........ive just finished stripping A restaurant CRT Down.........alot of the Values have decreased From Exposure. to heat and Grease, and the thermal Conductivity doesn't help as well.
