Hello Steve ….. great review … thinking about getting the 55” model … have an older model and one of the led’s gave way (white light) looks like a flash light in the middle on lighter pictures … anyways I have a darker room .. tv next to fireplace that has spot lights on it … in other words some light … am I going to be happy with this set ? @TechSteve TV arrived and set up quite easily. Wow, I'm impressed! My 1st Smart TV. Stunning picture for sports and even old black/white movies a crisp and clear. Such and improvement from my 10 yr old plasma ! Sound is quite good, but wondering if I should get the Samsung sound bar to go with it. When you use the sound bar, does it turn off and on and change volume with the TV remote? Any comments, Steve?

Glad I came across your videos. I currently have a 60'" Sony TV from 2011. Looking to finally make the upgrade next month and had my eye on this particular model for a few months. Went to Best Buy to compare this to the Q60B and there's a big difference in color. Will gladly spend the extra money for the better picture settings...especially on an 85" screen.

Hi Steve, I'm looking at purchasing this TV in the 65 inch size. My question is about the remote itself. My other Samsung TV's have the one remote which I personally love. Since this TV would be in my living room and be used more frequently how often does this remote need charging? Seems off putting considering how many devices we already have to charge, such as phones and smart watches etc. Wish they would have continued with the one remote or atleast gave us the option to choose. Also will this TV connect to my Alexa Echo Show 8? So I can just use mý voice to change channels, volume etc or just on/off. I live in Canada also, thanks so much Steve 🙏 Great content as always!

Some tearing with motion interpolation? No sweat - I’ll just use VRR for my Xbox Series X and call it a day. That motion test you did looked like just the right amount of SOE I want in a TV so I can’t wait!

Looks like the best QLED Smart TV i´ve seen so far. For this amount, you get a 120hz, Direct LED full array, powerful speakers and the Samsung app for auto calibration is indeed a great feature to consider. I´ll keep my eyes on this one

I bought the 85in Q80B it is awesome. I went to the store to spend twice as much money was wanting an Oled or neoQled and left with the Q80B. This is the best tv for the price by far. Has all the features of a high grade tv and looks pretty much just as good. Works awesome in a bright or dark room is awesome for gaming and just looks beautiful doing everything. U will not regret this tv

great video, thanks. ive been looking at the sonys and samsungs, either 75 or 85inch, 4k, depending on the price. i need higher volumn than my old sharp. visio soundbar only lasted a couple years, so im not big on those anymore. i have bluetooth hearing aids, but hate wearing them for longer times, would rather better sound from the tv. ive seen videos of the ghosting on the sony x90k, so not as gung ho about sony, as samsungs seem less expensive.

I had this q80b tv for a while, the 55”. It had really good colours for 4k content and the audio was super clear too for movies. The ONLY drawback that i found a bit dissappointing was the brightness.. it was not as bright as i would want it for some reason j tried the settings to bring it up but just didnt seem enough.. the q60b i had prior lacked on other areas such as colour or audio but it had a much better brightness to it.

Are you based in Canada? I ask because the panel types you've listed match (to some extent) the Canadian panel variants - which are not the same as the US or EU panels, as listed on Rtings etc.

Any idea on how the 55 stacks up against the others seeing that it is an IPS compared to the others that are VA. I’m looking to get the 55 inch because the qn90c is 170 euros more expensive. In Italy this one is 830 and the 90 is 1000. I’m moving into my first apartment and want to get a really nice tv but save money where I can obviously. 170 euros isn’t huge but I could use it for other stuff.

The Sony will have better colors but it runs off of Google TV, The Samsung has a better interface for gaming because the make their own software and has better controls

The 50 inch can be had for £560 from Samsung direct with a 5 year warranty (BLC DISCOUNT),used mainly for gaming (PS5) so i know the 50 inch has a few gaming limitations but maybe the price now reflects this.Tempting.Too high a jump to go up to 55 inch.

Hey Steve. My current TV, TCL P605, is dying. Right panel is dark, flickering, etc. Really wanted an OLED but my living room gets direct sunlight most of the day, the other half has sunlight reflection from my neighbors white siding (wife hates the blinds being closed). Size restriction of 55". Would you still recommend the 55" model to fit my case? Used to game a TON but that's a rarity now. 120hz is a plus. Mainly just watch RU-vid and movies now.

Something you just have to buy and try, the 55” is a IPS so besides blooming it will be bright, have great colors and viewing angles.

Hi Steven Thank you for your review on the Q80B. I had the chance of getting the Q83B 65', which as far as I'm aware it's a color scheme variation of the Q80B. Nevertheless, I was also looking for the QN90B... but the price diference it's quite huge (500€). In your opinion it it worth the price diference? Thanks!

I picked up my 85in at Costco a few months ago for $1600. What an awesome TV couldn’t believe how good for the price. This tv is absolutely gorgeous in a bright or dark room. I went to get an LG Oled or a neoQled but when I saw this and the price it was a no brainer after seeing the gorgeous screen and all the features of a high end tv. The Q80B does everything good from gaming to sports and movies regular and HDR. I highly recommend the 85in also

I want to get the 55in but it's an ips panel and the tv I have currently is the samsung 49in mu6300(which is va I believe) . Will it really affect the blacks on movies/shows/games on my ps5? Also I have a low lit room.

Yes, but the trade off is brightness and better colors but IPs will have glow around logos

Hey Steve, I appreciate your hard work on the video. But I am interested in getting a 55" model of the Q80B, it will mostly be used for gaming with the PS5. Will the 55" support 4K @120hz?

I just came from the store after my impulse buy. The 55" has 120hz and hdmi 2.1. Since its a 4K TV, I hope it supports 4k @ 120hz. I haven unbound it yet, cause im trying to talk myself out of it by watching videos AFTER making the purchase. Derr

12hrs later, I decided to unbox and set it up. To my dismay, I dont think I have a base ps4 game that will output 4k or 120hz. However, I did noticed 2k or 4k resolution when using my firestick. I still have to find something to test 120hz but I have a feeling it will work. And after 2 days...I think I will keep it. I want to make sure I can turn on/off features at will. My current negative is the amount of button presses to switch between inputs.

@@dobrovoa6120 hey. PS4 doesn't have any 120fps content. I only had the chance to finally try HDR with rocket league. Guess ill keep the TV now, and wait to try out updated features on the ps5 later. I was hoping base ps4 had games that support more of these features.

M y 2011 UN55D8000 Samsung was thinner than this. When I got the Q80BD the display was smashed. Costco is sending replacement but I'm starting to wonder if I should have switched to OLED/LG. Samsung changed the vesa format too. 40cm down to 20cm. Different bolt sizes. I typically grade on consistency not constantly sending me to hardware bins or the store lol. Thanks for the review though your making me feel slightly better about this.

I went to the store to buy an Oled or Neo QLed and ended up leaving with a Q80BD. Can’t beat this tv for the price I’ve had it for 3 months and just love it. Can definitely hang with the big dogs. My neighbor has a 85 Oled and it really looks nice but we both like the Q80B better
