Hey doods! There's a good chance that the items in the Season Pass will be sold individually short after the DLC waves drop, but sadly the prices aren't know yet. Let me know what you think of this DLC and if you expect more to be released later! Thanks @Electricity Pea for kindly confirming that the free DLC costumes can be downloaded on the Xbox too without owning the game. Be quick though as they disappear after August 9th!
I got the deluxe edition from Japanese playasia & shocked that the US dlc works for it as I was able to work on it. Then when I go to the Japanese eshop page it says & shows that I already bought it & the price is not shown & gray out. Seeing how many years it's been so far they still haven't giving any new dlc. Thats why I don't support Koei anymore as they are breaking up a lot of in game content for dlc to drip feed us. Lucky I still own past systems that have full content on games as I don't see myself buying too much games in the future due to the greed the companies are doing. Anyway thanks for the review.
Samurai warrior 2 is still the best game they ever made! Every character has their own unique story and special stages for every character called "what if". And of course sugoroku, i used to play the sht out of that game mode
If they did anymore DLC I would want them to expand on the historical timeline and add some more characters. I mean later in the time period you come across characters that showed up in other games such as Masamune Date and Musashi Miyomoto
Maybe they have that planned for Extreme legends. I havent unlocked all characters but i think it doesnt include Ginchiyo Tachibana, which is one of my favorit characers of the series.
I want more costumes even if they are just recolors, and i'd LOVE to have classic costumes, like the ones Nobunaga and Mitsuhide have but for the other characters.
That'd be a cool throwback, especially for people that have played the previous ones. The Oda one actually looks surprisingly good on the mature version (only checked out the young version when making this video)
There is one benefit of the "special" weapons. They have no weapon mastery requirements, so they can be freely used on newly-obtained characters who either you don't have a decent weapon for, or want to level up their weapon mastery
Yeah that was quite the surprise! Given the quality and high-level gems I was expecting it to require S-rank mastery but as you mentioned you can just pop the weapons on anyone
Oh I actually misunderstood your message the first time, I thought you were talking about the weapons that just dropped in DLC wave #1 but you're right - the 'special' bronze weapons also don't have weapon mastery requirements.
Yeah, hypothetical routes will probably be reserved for later games. Costumes can definitely be a thing, even if it's just color reskins. Let's see what they come up with!
Thank you I will just get a few things. I liked the extra stage Oichi. I would love to see the rescue tune from SW2 return and of course Tadakatsu Honda theme. I really hope they will continue the story with the art style. What they did was really great. And higher difficulty levels or a reset character option!
Good to hear the DLC stage is fun, gonna be playing them this weekend! Not sure how far you're in, but you can unlock nightmare mode by clearing the 2 Honnoji battles in Oda's & Mitsuhide storylines on hard difficulty. And I'm pretty sure there's another one above that
Honestly from a content perspective 5 is very underwhelming for the base game and DLC. I personally think 4 did it better. That said I still think 5 is a fun game just not as good as I'd want it to be. Also in terms of DLC I'd want all the legacy characters as well as the new characters that were first debuted in 4 they cut out from 5 back with legacy weapons/fighting styles. I know that's asking for a lot but like I said I felt disappointed by the lack of content. Only other thing I'd want is DLC costumes that are in reference to Samurai Warriors 2 kinda tired of seeing only Samurai Warriors 1 costumes getting put in but not the other costumes from past entries.
I agree with you, I was going to get this but found out it missing most of the characters. how are people supposed to know it's about Nobunaga. Plus i hated Nobunaga since the first samurai warriors, his personality always pissed me off.
I'm really, really glad I held off buying this. I'll just wait til the Winter Sale on Steam. It's 130 fucking dollars here in Australia for the Digital Deluxe Edition. Absolutely ridiculous, given the content. I hate being a Warriors fan sometimes :( Thank you so much for your video, very informative and funny!
most of the Horses are also DLC Horses from SW4 or SW4-2. as Ghost and Iron Coat were DLC in SW4 while the Armored Matoi (the red armored Horse) was a DLC in SW4-2. and i can say the horses themselves have high speed and power, though i cant remember which ones have higher speed or higher power. definitely more likely to get these separately. depending on how pricey the scenarios, horses, and weapon skins are. tho i am a bit disappointed the Yuki-Onna colored costume for Kicho is not avaliable to us. I do think Ieyasu also has a green-colored outfit that is Imagawa colored tho not sure if thats DLC or in the base game
Oh wow you're right! Thanks for pointing that out - really sad to learn that :/ Yeah the Yuki-Onna skin is definitely a slap in the face, I kind of hope it will be released after a few months anyway but that's not always the case with these exclusive deals
All I gotta say is that they gotta put more story They can't just end it with mitsuhide and Nobunaga what about the story of hideyoshi's path to unifying Japan then there's the battle of sekigahara I hope they don't forget about those battles
Those are probably going to be sequels seeing as this games seems to be doing well in terms of sales. I wonder how long it would take though, as they probably have more musou games they'll be releasing in the meantime
@@Swrinny Ahh man that would suck cuz then I'm going to have to wait who-knows-how-long for my favorite character to pop out and make one final stand AKA yukimura Sanada
May I please have the option to take off a skill? Idc if it’s 40,000 igc or something. I also think with time there will be more characters n stuff. GREAT VIDEO though! Very fair n straight forward… Noiice 😮😲😬😉
You mean take skills of weapons? Yes please! I've had to trash so many weapons because of this limitation :c And thanks for the kind words, glad you liked it!!
So this video highlights once again why you only buy the standard edition of koei games as the extra content or bonuses just aren't worth it. Even the season pass is meh.
I've never been a fan of season passes because they induce a sense of urgency in the buyers and even more so when it's not fully sure what is going to be added. I've sadly come to accept this is the case with most of their games and in cases like this all I can try to do is to make it clear what you will actually get. I really love the games they publish as they're some of my favorite series, but the DLC side is definitely their weak point
@@Swrinny oh I totally agree I adore the warriors games there just pure fun and I just ignore the dlc unless there extremely cheap on sale years down the line 😂
Damn the only thing i care for is that Nohime Yuki-onna costume (which is sadly Japan exclusive only) and that BOW looks cool. She's freaking fun to play in the game. Especially her C5 combo, it's so OP.
This game is basically like how DW7 vs DW8 in term of content. So many "Clone" personal weapon that even DW7XL attempted to fix it but you had to release DW8 to fix the content problem. Why ditched the uniqueness of SW4 and SW4-2 content AND weapon and go for the DW7 weapon system which actually executed better than in DW7 (Since you can switch skill and weapon in the middle of battle as well.)
I got the game like last week and the dlc is pretty cool. Sucks that some of the other future dlc I can't get because it's only obtainable in other regions.
Glad you're enjoying it! Chances are that the Japan-exclusive pre-order bonuses are timed exclusives and could be sold later, but by that time most people would be done playing the game :c
I know right! It's especially crazy that even in Japan this is exclusive to people buying from Amazon :/ If we're lucky there is a 'exclusivity time' of a few months after which it can be released to everything else (as paid DLC). Might not be playing the game anymore by that time but it's the only hope
@@Swrinny Yea hope so, i don’t mind paying tho since i like the design and i enjoy playing as her.. I can see myself playing for a long time lol, i’m enjoying this like a lot 🤩
With how they crank out these games and how they charge for dlc, I'm surprised they dont double down on costumes like they did with previous titles. Granted musou games have a niche fanbase but that would make me more inclined to pay for these season passes. Really hoping for Atelier Ryza 2 skins at some point but we shall see. And if they ever do Dead or Alive skins I'll be broke.
Costumes would work great for this game, and it's the kind of DLC I mind the least because it's just cosmetic. I wonder what kind of costumes they'd do though - so far we've only seen reskins (different color) or the throwback to older samurai warriors games (Nobunaga & Mitsuhide)
Thanks for letting me know! The first 7-11 I've ever seen was during a holiday to Japan (never been to the USA before) so I thought it was a special thing over there haha
the only complain i have for this game is... the characters are getting younger and younger on each series, while me who play it is getting older and older ;w;
euh.. the 4 weapons are actually great.. they are unranked and you can boost the 4 skills to level 9... Meaning you can easily use a level 1 character in hard stage with them
Yup, and even then it's very little as you'd be done with the stages in 3-4 hours max. Not sure if they'd ever add movesets to existing weapons as DLC, I know people want them but they'd probably reserve that for sequels. Maybe a few new weapon types though! (= more movesets)
So the weapons are just skins i thought they were going to have movesets that would declone some of the characters like dynasty warriors 9 did wow wtf were they thinking who wants a damn weapon skin we want movesets.
@@brandonrice1124 For what it's worth - they're also of the gold quality meaning significantly stronger than the silver weapons you get. I know there are a few gold weapons you can get ingame by completing certain stages on certain difficulties, but I guess this is a shortcut seeing as they don't require any level of mastery
This is the first warriors game I’ve ever played (played every release since dynasty warriors 4 with the exception of dw9 and spirit of Sanada (which I bought a few days ago)) and this is the first one I’m actually having trouble finishing due to lack of interest in the story and characters, it’s too short and too slim on characters in general
@@Swrinny it feels unfinished, I really like the new character designs and the whole idea of exploring the past of the characters is interesting, I’d just like MORE you know? More of these new designs, more characters, and most of all more weapons it stings knowing they cut dual pistols out when there’s a character that should obviously use em, even retains em for his musou attack
@@addictofanime Whats worse is he is a damn clone i thought the clones would have different charge attacks but no they dont and the spear moveset is trash the one that shibata uses is terrible.
@@addictofanime Yeah I feel ya. Mitsuhide's part of the story showed more of some side-characters but that was also scratching the surface. Ieyasu and Hideyoshi have a future ahead of them and we'll most likely see more of their POV later, but even during these times it would've been nice to see more of at least them
@@brandonrice1124 Funny that you mention the spear because that (and the blade + matchlock) are the two weapons that I never want to use. Just feels too weak or slow
Man Fuck talking about this Overpriced Dlc.... what you need to talk about is how the Devs need to change Characters from using the same damn weapons Smh
I enjoyed the game but some things I feel need to be added to complete the game. For one, all battles should have the option of playing the opposite side. This way characters like motonari, kenshin, and Takeda get more playable screen time outside of maybe 2 battles each. More costumes, and more important battles centered around the factions that fought while Nobunaga was uniting the land. Maybe more of the battles between kenshin and Takeda, or how Mori unified his lands of shinkoku. Lastly, some older designs for all characters. It really felt like at least Ieyasu and hideyoshi deserved ones for their final stages to show a kind of "passing on the torch" for them as the leads in the obvious next sequel.
@@cynthiagipson8039 if you mean the mercenary magoichi, you have to S rank certain stages to unlock a reverie stage post game. When you beat it, hell unlock
@@cynthiagipson8039 rank up a high combo but always attack enemies in hyper mode and focus on doing most objectives and beating the stage with a low time. I mean when you beat a stage you are ranked. Generally you just improve in those to get one.
Sadly they have confirmed there will be no DLC characters, so if we get any characters it would be in a Expansion such as in SW5-2 or SW5: Empires. though i only expect us to get characters related to Nobunaga's Era. as they said they didn't want to make DLC characters that were related to Hideyoshi's era at the possibility of this game doing well thus SW6 would be where Hideyoshi be the MC
Yup it does :c For what it's worth - Mitsuki's story gets some more attention/depth during Mitsuhide's perspective of the story. Not as much as we'd want, but it's a nice welcome!
@@Redhead-pf8le also because it's called samurai warriors 5. if they wanted to make it about Nobunaga, why didn't they give it a unique name like they did to Yukimura's game.
Yeah sadly if fealt more like the "Sanada story" they release years ago rather than a true Samurai Warriors game. I like my big roster and next time before buying a game I will watch some reviews. I love Warriors game, but I taught it was like the previous samurai Warriors 4. If the next warrior game is like that, I might give it a pass. No Segikara battle (wathever you call it) it's like a no Chi Bi one if we talk about Dinasty warriors. Plus we have Shingen and Kenshin but no real arc between those two and plus no Hojo or Date or Shimazu. I like some of the new mechanic but it does not compensate for the lack of character, move set and flavour of the already available character. It feels incomplete in my opinions. I hope Koei doesn't continue with this trend to gave us game that feel lackluster.
@@carlroy Right! That's the thing with Musou games, you know what you're getting yourself into when having played the others and that's exactly why I didn't like them naming this game Samurai Warriors "5". It's a reboot, not a sequel to 4. There's a bit of extra story regarding Shingen and Kenshin but it is really limited, was actually expecting more DLC revolving them - maybe even show a very young Yukimura with Shingen as a teaser or something
Omgggggg 3:42 I bust out laughing that really made my day 🤣😂😆....... I feel like why pay that much for zero new characters they could have atleast gave the generic characters atleast one special move
Glad you liked it haha! And yeah the poor support characters, would be nice for them receiving their unique moves. It kinda feels like they were thrown in as a last-minute effort to up the amount of playable characters
Whilst the weapon skins do look "cool" I'd rather the season pass offer "new" weapons that come with brand new unique move sets. Seems like a wasted opportunity and not worth the money.
Yeah more weapons would been nice. They've been really creative with different weapons throughout the Warriors series so there's plenty they can could pick from! And then add them as preferred weapons for some of the existing characters for unique moves.
No lie, this DLC looks pitiful. I’d rather they do an expansion for Hideyoshi(what could be SW6) and Ieyasu(what could be SW7) or for characters that really don’t have an allegiance to a particular clan/army(Mushashi/Kojuro/Keiji, as he was a free roaming type of guy, over here with the Oda, then with Katsuie, then with Uesugi and Date clans for some battles) I love 5, but i think maybe they should’ve ended it a little further down the road and without the inclusion of a certain ninja that, to me, derailed the whole final stage(s) momentum.
They did milk that certain ninja quite a bit haha. In Oda's story it came out of nowhere, but in Mitsuhide's story it made a bit more sense as you could see the build-up
