I do like the introduction of Razor Shell, because even if it doesn't really do things for Samurott, there are a few other mons that get Razor Shell in the MSGs that could use it in POGO; Cloyster, Barbaracle, Slowbro/King (Galarian forms too), Escavalier (think about that), and Kabutops. All of these mons lack a good STAB (or Water type) low energy move (if they even have a Water type move at all; Esca doesn't, Kabutops might as well not have one given how it's Water Pulse, Slow twins have Water Pulse and Galarians don't have anything Water, Cloyster has Hydro Pump, and Barbaracle doesn't have a Water move from what I recall). Adding a lower energy Water move to any of these Pokémon (especially if it has a Defense debuff chance, like in MSGs) would make them MUCH more viable in PvP
Nice video! I am personally excited for this Community Day. I personally don't really count Shadows and Megas as a rural player (I almost only get Vulpix, Wobbuffet and Poliwag from Rocket invasions), and I don't have like six Kyogre or Swampert, so I think Samurott deserves a place in my water type team.
Like most of the starters that are added, I evolved one of my good ones and kept the best for the eventual CDay. Fortunately my best is a 100% so it will be amazing with hydro cannon. However, I like that they are giving out razor shell as well so that I can give it to the one that I already evolved.
I love oshawott, samurott is my favorite Pokémon of all time so i'm really glad that my boi is getting a community day. Razor Shell is one of my favorite moves. My Samurott in Pokémon go is cp 2482 and is almost a best Buddy. I oftenly battle with it and it's really good!
2:03 Razor Shell is its signature move and they did do this exact thing with Blaziken and Swampert getting the moves Blaze Kick and Muddy Water respectively during their cdays. Although strangely they didn’t do this with Emboar getting Heat Crash (I think at one point Leaf Tornado was Serperior’s Signature move but I’m not 100% sure on that, I’m basically hitting a dead end on that research. But it has it in PoGo anyway)
I’m pretty sure the reason he is getting that move razor shell is because it was his exclusive move when generation for first came out. It would be kind of a bummer if he didn’t get his signature move, not all that surprising.
I checked on PvPoke and it said with the move set of fury cutter, hydro cannon and megahorn, it has about a 61% win rate on gl and ul. Still is better than Emboar’s win rate
Nice video man! Maybe a nice idea to compare the stats of these type of pokemon to similar ones. For example for starters its nice to see how it compares to Blastoise, Swampert etc.
I think Razor Shell is its signature move, so it makes sense they add it, but we'll see how useful it'll be. Hydro Cannon will probably stay at the top for DPS at least, but maybe the attack could have some advantages in PvP.
I am hoping razor shell will be like blaze kick for blaziken, I run one with both BB and BK to bait shields, maybe pull off one more attack with BK if i can't get enough energy for a BB before he faints, having both of those for me with blaziken helps with key wins in my league fights. so if razor shell ends up being like that it might give him more of an edge and push him more up there with the good water types like swampboi and emperor penguin.
I think adding razor shell is good. We have seen this with blaziken too and it is (or at least was for blaziken) a good alternative if you couldnt play on CDay.
I think Razor Shell will be a buffing move. Increases Samurott's defense by one stage and does a bit of Water damage. So the best moveset in PvP will be: Fury Cutter, Razor Shell, Megahorn.
They did the same with blaze kick blaziken and muddy water swampert cause if them being signature moves. Leaf blade & Leaf tornado were already in the game. Don't know why they didn't give Emboar heat crash too
My guess is that Razor Shell will be a Night Slash/Cross Poison clone since they all have about the same base power and high crit chance in the video game. That could be devastating with boosting its Waterfalls!
Adding a water move to a Pokemon that already has the best water move in the game is a highlight of how clueless niantic is when it comes to competitive…
Well they did that for Blaziken and it was actually a good idea so I'm not too worried. Blaziken had Blast Burn (best fire move) but also Blaze Kick (cheaper) which is a better move for it in PvP due to the glassiness of it.
@@FLWVideosYT oh yeah i understand both are water moves and hydro cannon is already very low energy charge move. Offcourse than it'll be not that useful unless it has some secondary effects.
I'm calling it right now. Razor shell will be something spammy but also give you a chance to debuff its defense. If it's not spammy nor debuff it's a waste
In my opinion thats not the correct moveset if you go to PVpoke and simulate it with Furry Cutter - Hydro Cannon - MEGAHORN it gets a 63.9% Wins in Great League and 61.4% Wins in Ultra League
Now before I start this video please let this one be really good with Hydro Cannon!!!! I’ll edit this comment when I finish the video Edit: Ok not bad at all!!! Second best Hydro Cannon user for raids! I can get behind this!!!
This looks like a fun Pokemon to build that we might be useful for both PVP and/or Raids. Most players just want from Community Days with semi-useful Pokemon that we can build to help our communities raid and are possibly competitive with the right configuration for PVP. Lets hope this new move isn't a "Payback" type move that is pretty much useless in PVP making the whole Machamp Community Day a waste of our time. I feel like we have been in this place many times before where we have high hopes about some aspect of the game only to be scammed by Niantic in the end.
