My father (1900-90) talked about listening in to a telephone set up in New York City that let him hear the Pacific Ocean near this Exposition. Many years later I was amazed to see that very phone in a museum. Things like that pulled the country together and left a legacy; the commemorative 1/2 dollar and the stamps issued for the Exposition are still quite available. The gold commemorative coins...another story unless you have very deep pockets.

To bad they burned down the thing they found. San fran was up there with the great cities of Europe. Those buildings were already there and we found them, painted them for the world fair and then destroyed so history could not be examined. Explain to me how did all the great cities burn down if they were built of stone, and why did they all burn from 1890-1920 right before the 'depression, was the depression used to whipe man's memory of a past of great human design and unity? These buildings were destroyed with weaponry not a factory fire. Speaking of factory fires, we have a lot of those happening right now?😢 resets done by the elites have happened many times in our history and it's happening again, get right with God Now before its too late

This was one of the first propaganda films made, another one was the camera in the streetcar going up Market St. just a few days before the earthquake. How could the whole city be rebuilt after the 1906 earthquake and fire in such a short time, and are we to believe the magnificent structures at the Exposition site were just temporary? Just like Paris, Chicago, St Louis, etc. Seems to me like it was part of the last reset and the erasing of the technology and history of the Tartarian empire.

...oh my god. is this another stupid conspiracy theory? really? like no, you people don't get to insult us Californians at every turn, then flip right around and mine our history for your idiotic neo-con crackpot theories. You want to know how they built these buildings? I'll tell you. The building material is called Staff. it's a mixture of gypsum and other materials, and strengthened by sackcloth when you stick it in the molds. you can make it very quickly, very cheaply, and a whole metric crapton of world's fairs used it. Thing is though, it doesn't last, so any of the buildings they wanted to preserve, they had to be built in wood or concrete (like the Japanese pavilion) or be rebuilt in something more permanent. this is basic frigging construction techniques, you easily-manipulated rube, not a hidden mystery of genocide. Like what is wrong with you? In fact the area where they had the fair was mostly *reclaimed land* , as in not reclaimed from some ancient people, but that they dredged up the earth and packed it into those areas. *this is why it's one is the worst places to be in an earthquake.* this is literally part of town built on sand. How hard is it for you people to believe that people, with our monkey hands, *can build things?* Are you going to start believing that every skyscraper was built by aliens? every two-story townhome was built by a mythical race of fish-people? Get some sense into your heads.

@@basilmemories If you actually looked into this, you would quite easily be able to differentiate between the plaster temporary structures that were propped up amongst all the pre-existing permanent buildings. Look at the sheer size of many of these Worlds Fair buildings. You’re going to sanely say that those were cheap, temporary, plaster structures? They’re going to house the worlds most prized inventions underneath these giant “temporary” structures built on unstable sandy grounds and invite the worlds most prominent people? The canals, fountains, waterways....the plumbing. All the wiring for electricity. The In extremely limited and short periods of time? The Buffalo Worlds Fair had more lights than New York City! Yes, Aleksandr left great greco roman buildings all over the world and the powers that be have destroyed most of them. History is not what they tell us. It took great technology and unity of the masses to achieve such great creations. The people who believe gold miners built San Francisco have to wake up and see we have been lied to. Every major city in America has greco roman foundations, just search for the before and after pictures of the cities built of stone 'that supposedly burned to the ground by simple fire in the first decade of the 1900s

Why is it so hard for people to accept that there was both? There is a clear and obvious combination of both temporary, cheap structures that were built for the fair and the pre-existing building’s. You don’t find it odd that all these Fairs have only 1 permanent building still standing today? They were able to go through the extreme lengths of planning and building out these complexes but couldn’t just make the whole thing permanent? Why not? What’s the point of losing $8 million dollars (Chicago Worlds Fair) for something they’re just going to tear down? You only invest that type of money and infrastructure into something intended to be permanent. It’s 100% obvious they were pre-existing and were destroyed to hide the truth.

Right, many years after going to the Fair as a teenager I visited the 1964 New York site again. The temporary buildings were just that, all gone except a few built solidly for the 1939 Fair and still in use, plus a couple of decaying structures that nobody had figured out uses for. Some monuments remained, mainly the big globe and a few historic columns, paths, plazas and the like. The rest was simply not meant to be permanent--too expensive for such a short time. I will say it was weird to return, the ghosts of all those structures and crowds seem to rise up around me again.

@MJs World : All the PPIE buildings were torn down except for a couple of the smaller ones which were relocated. The Ohio building was floated down the bay to a San Francisco suburb and turned into a restaurant. The Palace of Fine Arts, originally slated to be torn down, was kept and the immediate grounds maintained as a City park. Because it was constructed with the temporary materials it was slowly deteriorating and falling apart. In the '80s (I believe) a huge fund raising drive was undertaken and the entire structure was rebuilt using more durable materials so it would be enjoyed and appreciated by future generations.

I''m super confused about what I see - 6:21 shows clearly the bricks of the columns, it's not a temporary building. There's no timetable in any webpage about the construction time or amount of workers. They say they started collecting money 3 years before the opening, it's quite ridiculous story. The most curious element in the fair is the lightened-up concrete columns with a statue on top, so it's a clear sign of some fancy tech. And the last one, 1906 they had the whole city destroyed by the earthquake, how the hell they managed to build the whole city and the fair on top of that. It's just too much weirdness.

CON-struction. It makes no sense whatsoever to build temporary buildings when the whole city was destroyed just a few years ago. The Awesome buildings were there the whole time. Thanks

Same thing happened with the World’s Columbian Expedition in Chicago. All the buildings were made temporary.

Yes, yes. The same people reveling in silly hijinks of the day built structures to rival the greatest found in Europe and then just tore it down. Makes sense.

buddy the buildings at the PPIE were basically just plaster husks over mostly wooden frames. they weren't built to last, they were temporary monuments... the palace of fine arts is still there if you wanna see that. it's a misery to maintain because, like i said, it's made of fucking plaster 'to rival the greatest found in europe' lmfao as if the height of european architecture is slapping staff on wood frames and hoping it doesn't crumble. it looked nice for way less expense is the point, and it looked so nice that it's still boggling the minds of guys like you to this day
