@Lord Demoncrusher Right, because you’re human, and will be intending to spend your life with one person. (Ideally) The Doctor is an (effectively) immortal being who had already lived the life of several human beings by the time he met Rose, but human beings live for less than a century (typically) before we die. To Rose in this context, she wasn’t anything special to the Doctor but another in a very long line, from her POV. And this is different to human relationships because those break apart because the people aren’t right for one another. Their relationship will end because the Doctor will outlive Rose by several centuries. No matter what she does, he will always live beyond her, and thus need to be more detached to prevent the trauma of her death from affecting him like the death of your wife would affect you because he would have to live for several more centuries with that pain, not just decades.

The way Sladen played Sarah Jane’s resentment and initial hostility towards being left behind and then seeing it repeat with Rose she eventually forgives The Doctor but cautions Rose that it won’t end well if she stays with him which subtly shows the different predictions for Doomsday, this is what RTD is a master of he can weave different elements while balancing them expertly

There's a LOT of amazing acting. Tennant's face when he says she looks incredible too--the fond, warm, nostalgia. Sarah Jane's subtle expression change when she says no, she doesn't--the awareness of aging and mortality. Just brilliant, all around.

Honestly, I was so besotted and heartbroken when I heard the news as a kid. Completely devastated that we wouldn't get any more Sarah Jane Adventures. She was the closest thing to a human version of the doctor we got in her own way (apart from Donna but she didn't get her own show sadly)

I was very young when Sarah Jane Adventurous ended I was about 7 I didn’t know she died till I was 15

@@lfkpics3884 New stories retcon old ones, but they probably didnt mean this literally. How I see it, she could've meant the 8th Doctor because the events that followed was "everyone else dying" which could mean the Time War. But with the line about leaving her in Scotland implies she last saw him as the 4th, so then that means the events of the Five Doctors never happened, or was never remembered.

@@qcjimmy3452 age is pointless for the doctor now. since heaven sent you could argue the doctor is 4 billion years old.since the timeless child, it could be even more than that. we don't know how long the doctor has lived, and there's incarnations like ruth to prove that. the doctors true age is unknown, even to herself. also it's impossible for david tennants doctor to be 900 years old. the 7th doctor claims to be 953, while in voyage of the damned, 10th doctor claims to be 903. he must have started recounting at some point, and that point was probably in or after the time war. my guess is that he started counting from the moment he regenerated into the war doctor. we saw the 11th doctor age defending trenzalore, and it was confirmed that he defended trenzalore for at least 800 years. when 8 regenerates into the war doctor, you can clearly see a young john hurt. it would make sense for this to be the version of the doctor that takes up most of that number, because we saw in "rose" that the doctor seeing his ears for the first time. later that season we see him regenerate. just before claiming to be 903, he spent a year on the valiant with the master. this means that the YOUNGEST he could be at the start of his run is 900. heclaims he is 906 in the end of time. his doctor only lasted 6 years, so it's most likely that he started recounting his age when he became the war doctor
