Please pray for me? Im hurting inside my mind, heart and soul. Weekly fasting & always crying out to the Lord about my situation. Im angry & hate it so much! Many days i smile, share the gospel, go to work like everythings ok. But daily im surrounded by unsaved ppl. And sometimes they say & do sarcastic things. And in my flesh i was (a dont mess with me! sarcastic woman too. But i apologized & regretted it til my soul was so grieved that i begged the Lord to give me holy wisdom & holy humilty. 20 yrs later in my salvation, still coming up short. Im praying not to die short of fufilling the Lords' calling for Him. Pls send Steve Lawson a copy if this memo? Garrison !!!!

Mocked, chided, rediculed by my lost wife almost daily. I sit quiet and pray for she is lost and knows not what she is doing. That's what Jesus did. Please pray for Wendi.

This can be very hurtful. It causes others to feel stupid and small. I will pray to be more mindful of my words. I have confronted the person who keeps saying: "I was just joking." To brush off his hurtful words. I am learning to speak up for myself more.

This seems to assume that sarcasm is sinful in and of itself. But that's not something you can prove from the pages of Scripture. In fact, I agree with other comments that have pointed out that sarcasm is used in Scripture as a way of admonition and, even, edification. Obviously our speech ought always to be gracious and seasoned with salt (Col. 4:6), and as you have said, brother, used to the building up of others. But again, you seem to assume sarcasm can't be used for either of those things. I strongly disagree. Obviously, it is a slippery slope (as the title indicates, and as other comments have suggested), but that means (rather than avoiding sarcasm altogether, at all times) we need to use godly wisdom in discerning when such a tone would be best used. Nevertheless, there is some merit to what you say, and I appreciate your warning. I think I'm too prone to sarcasm in certain situations I shouldn't be, so I do need to fix that. Edit: I have since learned that sarcasm isn't what I initially thought it was. I confused sarcasm ("a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance *designed to cut or give pain*" from Merriam-Webster, emphasis mine) with what is actually facetious ("meant to be humorous or funny" from MW) perhaps mixed with irony ("the use of words to express something other than and especially the opposite of the literal meaning" and "a usually humorous. . . literary style or form characterized by irony" from MW). For most of my life I and others have used humor in a good-natured, affectionate way to poke fun at one another and things we find to be worthy of satirical criticism. By nature this sort of humor isn't cutting, derisive, or derogatory (but I know it can slip into that). I emphasize my point, and won't take away what I've written above (that is, my original comment) because I think it's important that we learn from our errors and correct ourselves when we do err. Additionally, I really think the sort of humor I support can be upbuilding, supportive, mood-lightening, and encouraging for others. I don't in any way endorse, but rather strongly discourage sarcasm and cutting language because it tears others down rather than builds them up in love. “Sarcasm.” Merriam-Webster.com Dictionary, Merriam-Webster, www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sarcasm. God is sarcastic to the wicked and to us when we need correction. it is a very effective means of exposing wrong think. it's assuming the truth of what you're trying to disprove and showing where it leads “Who is this that darkens counsel By words without knowledge? Now gird up your loins like a man, And I will ask you, and you instruct Me! Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding, Who set its measurements? Since you know. Or who stretched the line on it? On what were its bases sunk? Or who laid its cornerstone, When the morning stars sang together And all the sons of God shouted for joy?" stop being such a girl

Everything God does is pure, righteous, good, just, holy. We are not pure, and things we do are not done from right motives, or at the very least are covered in sin. Your entire point is made by you saying 'stop being such a girl', which completely dismisses the command from God which is covered in this video.

Paul uses sarcasm when addressing the Corinthians. (1 Cor 8-13) And follows the next verse by saying "I do not write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children". I believe there are moments where we can use irony, exaggeration, and satire to make a point and expose sin or man's foolishness. And no pun intended we ought to make sure there is no plank in our eye. However, Philippians 4:8 should be on our minds at all times. Sarcasm in a very intentionally hurtful way is clearly sin as coarse joking but sarcasm Can be a slippery slope. Such as alcohol to drunkenness, or eating without self control, or resting till idleness, etc. Also Sarcasm doesn't always have to be towards a person as well. It can be used to to describe an ideology, or some object or anything else. We ought to live by faith. Exercise wisdom and ultimately yield to God's providence.

@bjornegan6421 true. God loves purely, and we can't right? We shouldn't love too.
