Thank you Dirty for another banger. One thing that helps me remember H-zone is "My(H)osin" and I-Band is "I be Actin Up". Good luck to everybody studying for exams, boards, and all the above! Yall are gonna crush it!

I like thinking of M-line as the 'myosin line' or the line that connects the myosin filaments. The 'H' band as the 'heavy' band cause that's where we have the 'heavy'/thick myosin filaments only. Then the A band as the 'all' band as it contains both the actin and myosin (including myosin on its own)

This is amazing. Thanks, Dirty! If i can add, I also differentiate the H band and I band by looking at the width of the letters. H is thicker than I so it deals with myoTHICK. I is thinner, so I know I am dealing with acTHIN.

But THIN filament is NOT only ACTIN. There proteins surrounding actin. Thin filaments include ACTIN, TROPONIN, TROPOMYOSIN. That is why striated muscles are THIN FILAMENT - REGULATED.

The rigor mortis physiology is actually quite high yield! I've seen it on many Step 1 NBME forms :)

Yes! The German word for midline is Mittellinie and apparently the Z line is "Zwischen= in between". I had no idea those had German origin but now It's going to be easier to remember them. Thank you for another amazing video!
