53 minutes 🎉. You go boy. Loving the content and impressed with the on the fly commentary. Lucky for me I’m also 10.5 in shoe size and your reviews hit a bit better. Spreading the word
Early to bed, early to rise has been working for me, too. I try to do 6 miles before getting the kids ready for school then come back and do a few more. Also, I think the new Metaspeed Paris series is going to be a game changer for those wanting something fast and light. They're coming in lighter than the Vaporfly and the new midsoles are supposed to be much softer than the old Metaspeed shoes.
Great video. Question: if you are saying this is more of a “super trainer” vs an actual race-day shoe, would you agree this shoe could be a good option for the “middle-pack/every-day-runner” that would find a more aggressive/responsive race day shoe too uncomfortable for a marathon?
Actually, a more plausible explanation is that Saucony got early negative feedback on the Pro4 and anticipated it would be a flop upon release. So they made a late game decision to hold the price on the Pro3. I would even suggest that Saucony may even decide to do another production run of the Pro3 if sales for the Pro4 turn out to be particularly anemic. What really has me scratching my head is that Saucony did not release any Endorphins in 2023 aside from a trail shoe. The company had 2 years to come up with compelling successors to the Speed 3 and Pro3. It looks like they fell well short.
I've seen nothing but positive reviews on the Pro 4. And it was announced in '22 that Saucony would only be updating the Endorphin lines every 2 years- it's not because they were just sitting around scratching their heads trying to figure out how to update it.
I couldn’t agree with you more. Picked up a pair today and discovered that they aren’t really racing shoes as they have no pop, rather a very expensive but immensely comfortable, probably the most comfortable, pair of running shoes I have ever worn. I just hope they hold up well over time because I ain’t taking them off.
I just recommend the pro speed 3 to a buddy because of your reviews. It was hard to do because I have no first hand experience with them but I trust your judgment. Myself. I just finished up my marathon. 2:58:53 official time. I was on track for 2:55 but the weather was bad in Myrtle beach. It was way hotter than we expected. My body just shut down but I think the vaporfly 2 held up well for me. I tried to push it the last mile or two but I just couldn’t do anymore. Gave it everything. The roads closer to beach had that taper thing for water run off. Ripped my hip up and that’s really the only major soreness I can complain about. Chicago next
Amazing!!!! Congratulations on the sub-3 finish - and super solid to be only minutes off goal despite the heat. Hope you enjoy some well-earned recovery days 🙌🏽 also Vaporfly 2 is my favorite half marathon race shoe - great choice
Thanks for another good review. It's probably a good first Carbon plated shoe? I loved the feel when I tried it briefly in store, weirdly felt more accommodating of my wider toe splay than the Speed 4 (My Speed 3s were in wide, not available in the 4). How do you think the Pro 4 would compare to the NB SC Elite v4? Generally, most don't think that is the most aggressive trainer either. Would the Saucony Endorphin Elite accommodate wider footed runners? Sense I get is that it is only for the most elite runners, as even some of them said they thought the ride was "harsh".
thanks! and yes definitely a great first plated shoe. it's super comfortable - a bit more soft and forgiving than the sc elite v4, but that one feels both taller and more stable. endorphin pro 4 felt more natural to run in/more like a standard everyday running shoe while the sc elite v4 feels super built up. i haven't tried the endorphin elite yet but for a first plated shoe the endorphin pro is probably a better choice given that harshness you mentioned
Just ordered these today! I tried the new asic metaspeed sky Paris today and wasn’t really impressed as the midfoot is super narrow and caused arch blisters ! So the pro 4 will be my new race shoe this year!
Was inspired to break out my EP3’s and give them a second chance. Previously wore them in 2 races and found them to run firm and certainly no energy return. Funny thing is when I walk I them I can feel the cushioning. Today’s run was the same as the races very firm and didn’t feel any energy return. I think it may due to my slower pace of 11mi and not a very pronounced rocker. Oh well back to the shoe rack.
I’ve been running since ‘08, and noticed that the color of the midsole foam on same shoe can make the ride feel different. It’s weird, but if you want the original feeling of the shoe as tested/released to the masses, then go with the white midsole
I run an 8 minute/mile marathon pace, older short guy, and I could not get the speed or turnover to make the Saucony Pro 3 work for me at all. I love the Speed 3 but the Pro 3 was actually painful. Perhaps these are for more elite runners only. I use the Asics Metaspeed Edge + with no issues and I am looking forward to the Paris Edge.
I run before it gets hot so wake up at 0420.. But I need at least 45 minutes until I actually wake up and HONESTLY somtime I wake up AFTER 10 minutes of running 😂.
Bro any advice how to get the wide range of shoe rotation like you without breaking the bank? Do i have to like save some money every month for running shoe cause these days shoe are getting expensivee😅
Last year’s models are just as good in most cases. Buy on discount as the newer model releases. Also, road runner sports has a 90 day no questions asked return policy. Can easily put miles on a shoe and swap it for another a couple months in.
@@IrishHawk824 You are correct on the Road Runner Sports return policy, but the 90 day return is only available if you are a VIP member. I haven’t been a VIP member for a few years now, but I believe it was around $60 per year for the VIP membership. Personally, I stopped that program with Road Runner Sports because I was able to locate better deals from other sites and had issues with RRS putting my orders on back order for up to 2-3 months. Running Warehouse offers a 90 day return policy for all their shoes, and it’s free.
Great video..brings back the things that I don't like of the Saucony endorphin line..right now NB and Hoka,as well as some smaller manufacturers, are bringing the good stuff..definitely not a fan boy of any brand..my feet don't lie or make excuses..keep up the great work and I do like the longer, indepth reviews..a short blurb is more like an ad rather than a review..🎉🎉🎉
But how is the heel lockdown? :) I suspect if the heel setup is the same as the Speed, the more rigid plate probably results in heel lift for people like me. I've never tried a Pro version, since I could never get the Speed version heel lockdown/lift issues solved. Great midsole compound and profile, but that heel lockdown. :/ The Elite has a nice heel padding setup....with is tempting to try. I did manage to get a 3rd pair of Tempo Next% at retail price, which means I have about 1600km worth of awesomeness to carry me through my current block, Chicago 2024, and HOPEFULLY Boston 2025 block. (1031km on 1st pair which are effectively retired, 400km on my 2nd pair, and minty fresh 3rd pair) With my race shoe being the AlphaFly V3, which more closely pairs with the Tempo Next% than the AF V2 does and WAY better than AF V1.
