Cranberries goes along way! I'd definitely cut about half out or all really unless you like them. I've eaten stuffing all kinds of ways bc myself husbands family all lived up north. I'm a Georgia girl and love myself dressing. I made it for his family one Thanksgiving and now, They all want and eat my Cornbread Dressing! Lol. Ya'll nothing makes your Thanksgiving meal like Southern Cornbread Dressing with Giblet Gravy! Simple to make but the taste is like you went to lots of trouble to make it! Savory and Delicious! Yummy! Now I'm wanting some. Lol. Thank you Tammy!

Hello Tammy and Chris . Your stuffing looks delicious . A friend of mine . Made her stuffing one year . And it had fruits and nuts . She's from up North . To me it was more like a desert . But delicious . Her family loved my cornbread dressing . Tammy and Chris take care of your self .😊

I make my dressing with about 1/3 corn bread and 2/3 toasted bread cubes. I don’t put into my turkey because you have to be careful of internal temperature because of bacteria.

I use 3-4 pieces of bread torn up to go into my cornbread dressing but that is for a double recipe of cornbread. I don't use any mixes for anything, including cakes, so I make my cornbread from scratch like everything else. We love it! And, I have never put it inside the turkey or chicken for the same reason.

Patricia I use to do stuffing as a young lady I am so much older I hope wiser,in my opinion the more I thought about it it became more gross when that stuffing is up in that turkey no matter how loose and they tell pack lightly think about that blood dripping down in to the stuffing from the turkey and its not a lot a lot of room in there turkey cavity I wasn't ready to get salmonella so I just stopped,it's a recipe that's been in my family so long but I wanted something different one of my Dr gave me pepperidge farm. Stuffing, pound jimmy dean sausage I use Jeannie o turkey taco or Jeannie o season turkey sausage,diced celery,diced onions giblets cooked diced,some chicken broth Xtra sage stick half of butter couple cans of different soups like chicken,mushroom soup if you like butter lightly flour 9/13 dish or pan cook to kinda soft but crusty a little on top it's very good just sharing

We always had turkey or chicken that was stuffed with stuffing. Never dry bird . My mom always sauté onions and celery. Use the broth made from the neck and innards, and eggs. Plus spices. My husband to this day loves it unbaked. Never gotten sick either from it.

The reason it's called stuffing is because it is supposed to be stuffed inside the turkey or chicken.

Hi Tammy! I live in Montana and we always use sage to season our stuffing or also a poultry seasoning.
@patriciaemeigh4370

Sage dressing is one of my favorite sides for the holidays. Many years ago I got scared off from stuffing the bird with it, so mine is always a side dish. I usually use the pre-seasoned bread crumbs over the cubes. I jazz it up to make it my own. I think I just might have to try adding the chopped apple and sausage. There is always cranberry sauce and not everyone likes it so I would leave that out. Baking your dressing can result in a dry product (personal experience), so keep an eye on this dish. I so enjoy watching you and Chris. You give new cooks and old ones too, confidence in the kitchen. You show us how simple cooking is! Just get out there and try! ❤️

Tammy, to me the difference between dressing and stuffing is whether it’s put in the bird or not. This recipe looks delicious, but I’d call it a dressing bc it is not in the bird. I’m originally from Okla. and that is how my Mom taught me. Blessings to you and yours. Can’t wait to see the new kitchen.

I got that chopper and I love it. I usually use it for nuts but it works for fruit too. I love cornbread stuffing too but I don’t stuff anything so I guess it’s just dressing. I use boiled chicken in mine along with a couple of biscuits and 2 slices of white bread. I like lots of celery and onions in mine. I make a separate pan for my husband and oldest son because they love oysters in theirs. 🤢I know this is a good dressing/stuffing. Thank you Tammy and Chris. ❤

The stuffing goes in the turkey, what is leftover then goes in a casserole. It should be clumpy and stuck together a bit, not loose little pieces. That's the stuffing I'm used to. Once you refrigerate it as a leftover it can then be sliced when cold for turkey sandwiches, if you like or spoon it out for a plate. I also add a couple eggs and more butter :-)

I've always just used Stove Top Stuffing (and always that brand) because I like it so much. I've never tried making stuffing or dressing from scratch (or near scratch). My grandma used, though, used to make two stuffings/ dressings every Thanksgiving. One with oysters and one without. I don't know what all went into them but they weren't fancy. I really just remember bread and celery (I never tried the oyster one), and hers was always moist. I liked it and treasured her making it (holidays were about the only time she cooked, although I do remember once making lasagna with her when I was about 10. It was the first time I'd witnessed it being made and was fascinated at the process of boiling the noodles and carefully laying them in a layer, then the other layers, etc.) but preferred the flavor of Stove Top when cooking for myself. However, last year I saw another channel making sausage stuffing and thought it looked good but it was too late to make it that year, but now seeing you make sausage stuffing has me wanting to make a point of trying it this year.

I have always made my cornbread dressing from scratch and never used the Stove Top type. I am 77 years old and I guess this old dog only knows one way to make it! But, I might brag a bit and say it is the very best cornbread dressing I have ever tasted, and even my mother said mine was better than hers. So, in my case, I cook better than my mama did, LOL!

I almost forgot. I made your Irish stew with the Guinness stout beer. I almost chickened out because I was afraid of the stew tasting like beer but we couldn't taste any beer. It was so Gooooood! I don't usually put thyme, bay leaf or rosemary in my stew. I decided that I need to start using those herbs more when I cook. It would be good with chicken too I think.

We don't use much broth approx 1 cup. We do cook the veg in our stuffing in thee oven. We use toasted stale bread, 8 slices and 4-6 cups hot mashed potatoes. Season with S & P and summer savory. I'm going to add cranberries, onion, of course, maybe celery. 🎉
