@@cybertrkI think it's fine to have EVs as a novelty car and all the power to those that want to drive them but the idea they should completely replace gas powered vehicles is insane and not doable on many different levels
This was something that he thought on his own EV's i like to know what or if he doing today. He was ahead of his time. Thanks for sharing this, i remember seeing this before.
Funny thing is, EVs predate internal combustion engines. First EV was driven in 1832, first ICE was 1863... big oil has been holding back progress for a long time.
This is cool David it reminds me of an assignment that my fourth grade teacher gave to her class she asks us to come up with an alternate way to power a car that did not run on fossil fuel and would be environment friendly 1/3 of her class said an electric car because electric golfcart had been invented back in the early 1950's so why not an electric car. when the first electric car was made for the general public, it made me think back to my classroom assignment and someone actually perfected one 20 to 30 years later. thanks Davis Hoffman
I like the idea behind electric vehicles, but tge problem is that they cram so many unneeded parts to modern EVs to drive up the price. What should be almost the simplest machine is made to be the most complex one so it could be sold for $40k a pop. As a result, ev sales are plummeting.
I like the idea of EV but there are so MANY problems. First off is the amount of natural resources needed to even put an EV on the road. Before it's ever driven, the modern EV uses more resources than driving a regular car for years, not to mention most of the resources mining is done by children (it's bad. Look up the videos) The 2nd HUGE problem is that our electric grid is already overburdened. We've seen that in the last several years in the summer and winter. Imagine your grandmother losing her electricity in a snowstorm but can't leave to get shelter because she can't charge the car. A disaster that WILL happen over & over if we go all electric. What about the poor people needing food? They don't have $300 to pay their electric bill but they do have enough gas in the car to get them to the food pantry so the kids don't go hungry. The next biggest hurdle is that the cars catch on fire when certain parts get wet. It's reported some household insurance companies are already excluding fire if there's an EV in an attached garage. Another big no is the price of the battery replacement. People are dumping their whole car because it costs too much to replace the battery. Another huge waste of resources. Next is the logistics of natural resources. It's reported their aren't enough natural resources to replace every current running gas vehicle with an EV, not to mention the replacements. For these reasons and more, EVs need to remain a novelty and NOT ever be considered as a pretend solution. They would be an environmental disaster.
I remember when several guys in Seattle were making their own EVs in the 1990s. The Seattle EV group. What a great bunch ! There was this one guy who modified a small-ish car and was sometimes showing off by spinning his tires :) This guy would have been earlier but not sure how old the SEV group is
DIY EV Conversions on RU-vid, nostalgia. Giving new life to old cars on a budget and creators sharing their builds. Now both EVs and RU-vid became corporate/ politicized trash.
I think this guy's was pretty great, but their all scarily quiet imo, always thought they need somekind of clicker (like in the wheel spokes)😂 for noise? Or maybe something amplified through the stereo system to mimic the sound of a real bada** engine? 😃✌
Hello friend to the east! I'll be looking for a different vehicle in the future. Living on CA, I have to consider an EV, since our officials seem to be forcing me into a position that I am convinced that our gas engines are turning obsolete. Time will tell. I'm not convinced that the batteries aren't as great for the environment as advertised!
This dude is inspirational once i get money its gonna go where my mouth is. Im so broke and its so hard to get funds to make expieremrnts with when i cant even move out of my parents house. I love this mad scientist shit though
I remember seeing this somewhere on tv a long time ago witch I thought was fascinating I still would not buy and electric vehicle today they have to get better and there’s not enough infrastructure to support all this
It's cool, but i need to be able to travel longer distances with fewer long-term stops. The real inventors will develop a battery that can go 500 miles and take less than 10 minutes to charge. Wake me up when we get there, because we are all dreaming otherwise.
they also need to invent a battery that doesn't require congolese child slaves digging lithium, and chinese manufacturing with no environmental oversight. pretty dumb to try to save the world with slavery and horror somewhere out of sight
@@apokatastasian2831What incentives push American manufacturers to take their greedy owner's business outside of this country??? Good old American capitalism. Google this.... "How many republican politicians are currently pushing for a change in the child labor laws to allow preteens to be hired to work?"
@@apokatastasian2831exactly. And that's just the beginning of the problems. Imagine the electric grid going down in a snowstorm. How many people will be stuck freezing without transportation to a shelter or even being able to sit in their car to run the heater.
@@JP-xd6fm hello. Um, manners please. Goodness. There's absolutely nothing 'silly' with wanting vehicles that travel long distances. How rude to leave a comment on a public thread just to insult someone for sharing their ideas. Stop and look around you right now. Most likely, most every product you see came from long distances away. Good for you that you like staying close to home but there are millions that enjoy traveling or must travel for work or family. Stop making it OK to publicly insult someone because they don't have the exact same wants, needs or ideas as you.
Hybrids are the cooler option. All-EVs, even in 2020’s form, still aren’t feasible, most especially in cold, ❄️ places. Until they’re perfected, including a charge of 5 mins. or less, there’s not going to be a full transition.
