*WARNING* This game isn't _scary_ really, but there are calls that the main character has to deal with that involve someone in danger of getting unalived. Overall the game is more on the comedy side than the scary side, kinda like a 90s movie. Regardless, you can check their DtDD page for more details www.doesthedogdie.com/media/19770 Secret Sleepover Society is every Sunday & Wednesday at 9 pm ET www.twitch.tv/secretsleepoversociety
Honestly? I'd unironicly adore a latenight radio host sim like this, but play it 100% straight. Like you just dork around, play cool music, talk to npcs about whatever. Itd be great
As someone who really can’t do horror, I always love it when Jason and Julie undercut the scares by doing bits. It helps me manage. *scary man jump scares* Jacob: “oh he’s kinda hot”
nothing in this game is as terrifying as hearing Julia say “this game runs in real-time, to an extent” right at the start, and then watching as she proceeds to search every single pixel of the office for tapes when getting stuff to help the callers (all good, just nerve-wracking 😌)
Maurice: "Good call! He hasn't searched that room yet! It sure would be bad if you sent him to a room he'd searched already!" Jacob and Julia: "Let's send him to this room he's already searched right next to this easily murderable old man." Jacob and Julia after Maurice gets murdered: "What the hell?"
One of the many things I love about SSS is how they always manage to pick some weird, obscure games with perfect vibes. I got really invested in this one.
When the car exploding came through the phone and Julia immediately played the Angels Choir Audio on the soundboard without a second thought, I genuinely let out a loud yelp, I wasn't ready for how perfect that timing was after Julia had said, "that's the music that's gonna happen when she passes away-" not even 3 minutes prior.
turn on your radios, it's time to listen for trans rigs honking for cats! 24:26 just like joy 52:28 olive replaces jacob as co-host 55:57 miss olive wants that lap 1:11:01 cat tail action 1:16:19 making rounds and messing with tech 1:18:53 annoying olive become chair cat 1:23:55 wassup with olive 1:24:44 bye olive 1:26:24 leggie up with lil meow 1:27:10 how olive exits 1:32:21 olive wants ta play 1:40:19 chair cat 1:44:58 cats and meow chants 2:01:05 olive gets down
dndads is my go-to background podcast at work and my kneejerk reaction to jacob saying "ive been listening to dungeons and daddies" was "oh? the rowdy horny violent podcast for grown-ups? content warnings can be found in the description?" perhaps i need to go back to naddpod for a bit just to give my brain a break
Jazz running is where you run on the platforms of your feet to reduce the bobbing motion to make it easier to play an instrument, but god knows if that's what the woman was referring to lol
Jacob's talk about the reconstruction of mummy vocal cords reminds me of a clip out of a BBC documentary I heard where they got a voice actor to emulate the sound of a typical Neanderthal based on fossil records and it's literally some of the funniest shit I've ever heard
Me too. Although I think someone should let Julia know the solution to one case ahead of time because otherwise she might have to listen to a dog die and I know that's a big deal for her
In Marching Band anyways, a jazz run is a style of marching that you use when you're supposed to get to your spot faster than regular marching can get you there. I somehow doubt that's what this lady was talking about, but here's a video showing it anyways: ru-vid.comoajVgQA5M9g
This game is the prime example of “don’t kill the thing that makes you cringe, kill the thing inside you that cringes” and i don’t remember where I heard that but honestly I’ve been having a much better time on this earth after adopting that mentality
I played this game through and I was so sure there would be an achievement for getting a certain number of paper balls into the basket so I kept rapid firing them while I played. I hit around 700 by the end of the game, and no achievement... I still think I'm the bucket master though
About the "I have", I think it's like: "Did you get the fax?" "Yes, I have [got the fax]." "Did you find anything useful?" "Yes, I have [found something useful]." I don't think that's a really common way of answering these questions; I agree that people usually match the enquiry. Although for the first one, people are more likely to drop the "have" and just say "Yes, I got it"... Far less awkward unless they're emphasizing they have it.
I recently watched Gabsmolders finish this game and it was GOOD. Literally the type of game Julia would love and I hope she finishes it in her own time
"Have Gotten the [object]" is a valid wording of syntax. It might be awkward, but it works. "Did Get" is also valid, yes, but both are available and usable in a sentence.
Video game: "Hey maybe this plan is a bad idea and you shouldn't send him to the kitchen." The Drawfees: "Pfft, what do you know?" That they'd given the wrong answer wasn't just signposted, it was laser-engraved into the surface of the moon.
I like how a man was just pretty brutally murdered on the phone, on air, after they messed up and basically got him killed and they just go right back to smalltalk. But hey, Peggy's dad left I guess
This game looks great! It really reminds me of the fiction podcast King Falls AM, which is also about a big-city radio host who moves to the middle of nowhere and finds himself surrounded by weird and creepy happenings
Hilariously I was trying to do my perturbed yeti scream after pausing between Jacob's & Julia's attempts & the sound I settled on was basically the sound Julia proceded to make more or less.
The idea of someone who is even temporarily a 911 operator answering the phone “you’re live on *The Scream*” is both the funniest and worst thing I have ever heard
a few minutes after i started to watch this it started to hail, which was way scarier then anything could be. my windshield is cracked fyi- its ok the SSS vibes will protect me
I got a book rec for Jacob on the seriously off chance he ever sees this: White Trash Warlock. The protagonist is gay, it's pretty fun, lots of talk about trauma...
Remember to watch the ads until they end or for at least 30 seconds (whichever comes first)! That way the channel will get the ad revenue, otherwise it doesn't get it.
Thank you for your support! As far as we know, if an ad showed up for the viewer it already counts for our monetized playbacks, so you don't need to sit through the entire ad. Regardless of that if you prefer to skip the ads immediately we don't mind. We are not here to min/max our revenue we just want to make fun content for people. -Khaztaroth
If you could draw a buff woman would ye ? Michelangelo would according to that bonkers film with lightning in the intro we had to see in our art history class because we had a suppl teacher who learned that he was suppl the day of
I'd love to see them play more games like this in the future, i.e. Not For Broadcast, What Remains of Edith Finch, My Friendly Neighbourhood, Firewatch, etc.
I loved hearing Jason talk about Street Fighter 6. As a dude who has loved the Street Fighter series since SF2, it would really make my heart soar if the Drawf gang did something to celebrate SF6. Jason could do a muscley woman!
Was stoked to finally be able to catch one of these streams! It was also great to see so many people in chat being like PONTYPOOL?! because I am usually the only person who ever heard of that film. XD The warrior man even reminded me to feed my tarantula, who dispatched their bug with great discipline, lol. I too was mad about the silly newspaper guy- y'all were ROBBED on that one.
You know, weirdly enough this game kind of reminds me of Firewatch. It's got different vibes of course, but something about the visual style and the characters talking to each other kind of reminded me. I wonder if thats just a coincidence, or if the creators of firewatch had anything to do with it? Probably just a coinky-dink!
lmao i love how julia looked straight at the Final Breath record they were looking for and, had she not been distracted by cat photos half a second later she might have seen the record which is so relatable honestly. cat photos are more important than a record anyway lol
I thought the new Cradle book was coming in a month and so just last week started a full reread. Now it's out and i've got like a week to go before i can start it and i'm so excited. The series is so damn good.
