Happy to see this back. With Colonial Charter you can build entire towns on the lakes, all those options are 3rd icon along from the the exit button.

Soo happy you paly me favourite game again! hope this will be a long series! Remember to place the hospital next to the bridge. It is a bottleneck and get the sick people to hospital by them selves. Also small 3x3 stockpiles are great to place next to bridges and along all major road going in and out of the town. Or along any heavily used road. It will cut the journeys of the people drastically.

Hell yeah, Biffa playing Banished! Easily one of my favorite games. Just a chill city builder and no need for combat. I really wish he'd make another version of this game already

If I remember right, there is a tool for checking where people live/work. I think you select it and then click a work place and it draws lines to where all the workers live. I can imagine Salvatore with a rock for a hammer building the mill. 😆 Biffa, you are sooo much better that me at building at the right pace to have enough workers. I'm always waiting for kids to grow up to run things I've already built. 😅 I'm really enjoying this!

There is an icon for a Wild Herdsman or something like that and the icon is a diagonal staff right next to the Shorehouse Icon. It finds Domesticated Animals. If you put it away from everything they can bring up to 6 DAs per year. I use them for wool and milk and the stables when I have a grain. I use one stable and 1 grain field and use DAs for trade at 250per. As I make more DAs I make more wool and use that along with firewood (Dense Tree Shacks) for trade. Wool is 5per in trade and those are OP elements. If you get them early in game, you can get massive return on the resources. Cheers, Eric

There have been a lot of survival city builders with the simple goal of keeping the civilization alive and expanding. I've played quite a few and have the same experience, "it would be better if they did 'this' like Banished". Not too long after I stop having fun and decide to just play Banished again. Still need to get that pesky "Mountain Men" achievement. The game holds up amazingly well after all of this time.

Super happy to watch you play Banished. I'm afraid you may regret using any generalized storage or markets. IMO: The ceiling for any city in this game is determined by how much you rely on the AI acting sensibly.

You should always leave enough laborers without assignment. They then go from market to house and bring the resources to the workplaces. I personally always leave as many people free as laborers as I have assigned. So 15 people with a job and 15 people as laborers. To get more people you have to build more houses, because only 5 people can live in a house at a time. If you wait too long, you will have 30 old people who will then no longer be able to have children. Children can move into their own house from the age of 11 to have children

Before you start attracting nomads, you should also build an inn, so the nomads have a place to stay until their houses get built.

The pace at which you’re going has me screaming at the screen. I always get myself in trouble as I just build and scale things up like a mad man then I’m just waiting ages for them to build everything 😂. Just the way I see to play as I have no issues with getting food or people. Also I never use the town hall nomads cause they always come in massive numbers

A tip; Build the reed farm...several reed farms...Another tip: almost all traders take reeds. Usually I keep like 4000-5000 reeds in one trading port. You can buy alot of seeds and food with that.

The beginning of a city is the most exciting time, isn't it? All that panic for food and materials and labourers! Such a rush! LOL I'd love to see more in this series - I got as far as installing Colonial Charter and I even started with the same map seed as yours, and then I paused, looked at ALLL the choices I had to make, and froze. Haa! It really helps to see your own "path" through the building up in the first bits so I know what new-to-me things to use with all these choices! (I'm so used to the mostly vanilla game! LOL) You've got a nice little town started here, I'm rooting for the school teacher, hopefully getting a lot of those herbs will strengthen his constitution so we don't have to worry about whether he'll make it or not... LOL

Thank goodness you added some houses at the end! I was sooo worried you'd have a death wave of the elderly .. I mean you will .. but it will be offset by the new kids. Also... TOLD you so with the duck hunter ... 1 worker 1000 food. Much better than the fishing dock which takes 4 to get to 1000 food (nearly). Your early game is soo much slower than mine lol I love to get a farm trader in and get ALL the animals (not ducks tho the animation is weird) and seeds hhahahahha

I believe in the first video Biffa said he was only using Colonial Charter (full name on Steam now is Colonial Charter: Journey). That mod gives a BOAT LOAD of extra options for food stuffs. :)

why do you set back your buildings 1 away from the roads? the arrows are the access indicators that should be placed in/on the road for speed and efficiency.

Banished is very much an anti-micro game when it comes to labor management. The problem I always run into is worker efficiency. I think between my cpu and the game's code, I eventually run into issues where resources aren't distributed well enough and crops stop getting harvested on time and then end up with critical shortages despite being well equipped otherwise to handle the issues.

Yeah Biffa I started out playing Banished after all these years and I have to admit that I failed miserably killing all the citizens in the first two tries, but my question is what version of the Colonian Charter are you playing??... i think this game is really cool - but the low resulution is killing me - the text is aweful - is there a mod that fixes that? if there is it would be awesom if youd use it
