Welcome To Survival-Russia. One of the very best Outdoors and Survival related communities on RU-vid, and yes, It's a pretty good Channel too :)
My name is Lars. I'm From Denmark but I live in Rural Russia now. I live at a Homestead in wild nature surrounded by a huge forest.
On The Survival-Russia channel we do all things related to the Outdoors Lifestyle. I share my thoughts and experiences on Survival Techniques for the woodlands of the Northern Hemisphere. the Reality of Survival. I share Techniques and ways of the Siberian Tribesmen and the Russian Longhunters of the older days. Things not shown outside of Russia very much.
On this Channel we also do Off-Road driving, Vehicle builds, Metal Detecting, all things Outdoors basically. Enjoy!

Trivia of the day (2 for the price one 1): `jääkäri' means infantry soldier in Finnish, and `savotta' means a large amount of work to be done or done, often related to the forestry industry.

Jääkäri comes from the German jäger. Means fast moving infantry.
@martialme84
@martialme84 4 года назад
@@ExilSvensk I am not sure where you get the "fast moving" part from... "Jäger" in German means literally "hunter". It got into use for "infantryman" some couple hundred years back. (The fast moving infantry are actually the mounted infantry which are not referred to as "jäger" at all.)
@jankopransky2551
@jankopransky2551 4 года назад
@@martialme84 Jägers were light infantry, as compared to the line infantery. When jägers appeared, most of the soldiers fought in a rigid line. Jägers were ment to skirmish on flanks. If you've seen tv series Sharp- jägers were this kind of unit. What he probably ment was "agile infantry", which fits their description nicely.
@martialme84
@martialme84 4 года назад
@@jankopransky2551 Yeah well, still wrong when you are not specifically talking about muzzle loading, black powder using times... Today the "agile" infantry would be the Grenadier. The "Jäger" is the bog-standard, slow-ass infantry, these days...

Just a note to all of you viewers and loyal fans of Lars. Please watch the commercials (ads) all the way through in Lars' videos, as that way Lars makes a bit of financial recompense. If you are supporting the channel financially as a patron...then good, but for the rest of us, we can help by watching the ads...it puts a little bit of money in Lars' account. I'm just a viewer like you guys, & I will put up with the commercials for Lars' sake.

Great review on the small pack. I have the medium and the large. Savotta makes some of the greatest packs in the world. I have done several reviews on my channel and I cannot say enough good about them and the quality they contain. In my opinion, they make the finest line of bushcraft and survival backpacks out there. I purchased mine through Lamnia, they have free and fast shipping to the US.

This one and Varu's own even more minimalist version are both great front load hookup packs (think emergency parachute style). I use D clips and distribute some of the weight for easier canoe portages. Both are awesome to carry my Ursack Major packed to the gills with food. And I have the M as well, which is my favorite "medium size" pack.

I really love the Veshmeshok, I own 3 currently. One is (the worst condition one) just patch/repair material at this point. The other two are still in use. The other two have the total of 4-5 broken spots on the seams and 1 larger tear, some of the buckles also have rust in them. But I still don't think that they will be replaced anytime soon since they can be repaired. They really remind me of Gorka suits. No zippers, no excess, nice colors & foolproof.

l have had this pack for about 2 years and l must say it is a fantastic little day pack l have also used it for overnighter,s putting a sleeping bag on top and a 2 man tent underneath l put two side bags on for 6 ltrs more room what l did miss was not having padding on the straps if l carried 12 to 15 kg it would be better to have them l made some myself but it would be better if Savotta had some . But it is a great pack and l am carry pleased to own it.

An aerosol can of silicon sprayed inside paying particular attention to the stitching should completely waterproof that I would think. I've been doing that for years to my motorcycle jacket (about once a year or two as it wears) and it works a treat even in a downpour and travelling in excess of 100 kph (legal speed limit here is 110 on highways)

I have a nice backpack which I purchased from a military exchange on an Army base close by and it is nice and the company makes backpacks for the military which was another reason I purchased that brand. The one you have seem to be nice and well built and I hope that it can carry a container of water in it and that is one important factor if you are going into an area with limited water source. The bladder which go inside will hold enough water to get one by for awhile in the forest or desert.

If you wish to compare the two for their water retention "scientifically," you could hang them in a shower on a fish scale and then fill them with water. Take a picture of the weight retained every minute until there is less than a kilogram. Then you could find out how long they would retain water at a given pace.

I do not like packs carrying a heavy load ( which is usually always) if they do not have a frame and waist-strap. Have a medium size Swiss Gear one, but all the pockets are mostly useless to carry items in, too flat...#1 go-to is the standard greenish surplus Swiss model, one small front pocket + big interior + lower thick leather frame...

Nice pack, I must say, that I took a look, after an earlier video, and also wanted one, a little, despite having enough packs. A little expensive, but with polyamide (among the more expensive materials to produce, but also stronger than most "general fabric materials") and "molle" sewn on, well, extra work = extra money, same for materials, so? Longer "service life" must be expected, also. :o) Nice day, no matter what!!

The Jääkäri has a lot of MOLLE, it can be made bigger, it has a really comfortable suspension for its class, and it is effing expensive! While the Meshok is just a Clothes Bag with the addition of one outside pocket and 2 straps - over the the span of 120 years^^ And somehow, I like the Vesh Meshok much more than the modern tank pack.
