The Survival Russia Channel is about "The Reality Of Survival". I live on a Homestead in far away Russian wild nature and here are no room for "TV" Survival.
Only Reality counts here. Survival Russia promotes the philosophy of always carrying equipment and never to be parted from equipment which will affect chances of Survival.
So did the old timers and pioneers of both the East and the West.

In the cold months I always remember something my Grandfather taught me. I wear a flannel shirt and coat over my regular clothes in the winter. Grandpa told me to never throw on your outer shirt and coat right before you walk out the door. He said to put them on at least a couple of minutes before you leave so you preheat them and the air gaps while you are warmly inside. If you throw them on right before you walk outside, you are using a bunch of your body heat trying to warm them to 98 in the then colder environment. Preheat them while you are still warm!

Clothing is the key to staying warm when it's freezing cold outside, and if is the same indoors, then the clothing you wear will be just as important. I wear a thermal long sleeved T-shirt when I go out and I'm never cold even when the temperature drops to below freezing. I think that the clothes you have are brilliant, Lars, so there's no excuse for you ever getting cold in the temperatures that you have to endure. Actually, that weather is a superb advert for showing how good that type of clothing is. Awesome video. Take care...

I really like the different people they meet here, americans, russians, germans (like me), norwegians ... and so on. Nobody of us wants war. Thank You, Lars for showing us :-) I learn from Your experiences. Good luck.

Well those are some nice clothes, exactly what I come to expect from your "real life" channel. I appreciate how you always shoot it straight Lars. I never feel like you are condescending, just straight and true. I see some of the commenting people have a lot of disdain for the U.S. and I can't say it's not entirely unwarranted. Sad that our entire populace is painted with a wide stroke for the deeds of so few. I guess that is why you have my favorite channel, you are a genuine awesome human being. Have a safe, warm, and happy weekend my friend.

Hello Lars. I immediately recognized the Norwegian Army Sweater. Back almost 40 years ago, I had a buddy in 10th SF Group who went to Norway to train with his team buy me two sweaters and 4 of the cotton shirts that went under them. When I neared retirement, I passed them on the some younger SF soldiers so they could use them. Also I have the padded Russian top and bottom and love it. I use the bottoms often when splitting fire wood in winter. I have German WW-2 reproduction Keilhosen 100% wool trousers made in the USA. Wool is so much better and I like to layer the same way that you do. I learned that Gortex can really get hot and sweaty with very little exertion in spite of it being far better than rubberized over garments. Another great video and I will be purchasing some of the things from the Swedish site and that great wool top and bottom from sukonka that you demonstrated before in this video the overall type trousers. Next you need some merino wool long johns. Great job as usual Lars.

There is so much clothing out today made with supposedly "high tech" trade marked material but this video is just another reminder of how you don't need the new fangled $tuff to stay warm. Good old fashion cotton and wool worked fine for years and still does.

Mate, I thought you were Russian because of your channel's name, and I started laughing when I heard your Germanic accent and wondered if I've gone insane. :D

I do not live in a northern environment, but find your comments very useful, for I am a cool weather motorcycle rider. Riding at 0 C, at 40 mph, the wind chill is horrific. Multiple layering is mandatory...I like old style long johns and then flannel lined blue jeans for my legs, wind proof boots with cotton socks under wool socks. Upper body....long sleeve polyester T-shirt, then flannel shirt, army coat liner, and finally, wind proof jacket, neck gaiter, windshield on my helmet, full coverage glasses, and dewrag for my helmet liner. When I stop for lunch it takes me about 5 minutes to get most of these clothes off before I can go into a restuarant...oh, gloves..cotton glove liners inside thinsulate long sleeved leather gloves...keeps the wind from running up my sleeves! I also find a bit of lotion on my face prevents windburn. Stay warm and safe, Lars!

Digging your videos. In the States I have been experimenting with a product from a small company that uses full strand (not chopped) Lamalite for insulation in the clothing, boots and sleeping bags. So far, I have used it in wet areas while camping in the pacific northwest, hunting high altitude areas in the Colorado Rockies and exploring in the northern regions of Alaska in the winter. I still use wool too... I stay warm and dry, it is not light weight stuff, but I carry less and have yet to be uncomfortable even when I can't have a fire at night. The point is, you are so correct about Gortex. There is a reason those clothings you are finding are still around.. they work, they are made with quality and fairly inexpensive comparatively.

Great vid. Here we at times have a wetter winter and not sub zero temps. Our mix of clothing is a little different. That poncho was cool. Wool takes longer to dry than fleece. Wool will keep you warm if it isn't totally saturated with water. Good to see you my friend best wishes.
