Sternum strap is sold separate over here in Finland where the pack is made. Some people don't like them or don't seem to need them. If you need one, you buy one separately. If you don't want one, you do not pay for it. Personally I hate packs without sternum straps. My favourite shop sells add-on straps that I add for all backpacks I buy without one. One reason of the molle webbing in the sholder straps is that you can and the strap at the location you need it. Nothing bothers more than a strap too high! (or way too low). If the bag has not attachment points for sternum starps or they are not in confortable posision, I skip them.
I love a small pack with plenty of Molle. I can adapt it for whatever I need and even turn it into an extended pack. It could even make a good AT pack if you ship different modular set ups ahead of your hike, or back home when your done with them. One question; from one to ten, how would you rate the durability of the thread and quality of the stiching and finish stiching?
both sternum strap and extra padding can be bought separately and attached/detached whenever you want, varusteleka.com and other savotta distributors got you covered
I don't know if you would be willing to do this, but I would love to see you make a bug out gun. I'm thinking something along the lines of a gun that can shoot several different calibers. From what I have seen, people can make them for pretty little cost. Great video though!
Simple enough, maybe too simple a design, and I still haven't found anything to match the Sabra Gear packs I own. The Sabra Gear Mono 21 is my go to day pack and the Mono 48 for 3-5 days. As you pointed out the lack of sternum strap is a poor design fault, even hydration packs have them. Not too keen on those shoulder straps either due to thin and non padded narrow construction. Looking forward to your review of their larger pack. Their website features some interesting gear.
+Living Survival ack! I can't find any 10180 batteries for the dqg spy key-chain flashlight anywhere. gearbest sold out errybody sold out. fiddlesticks. know a source?
Carson you realize this was sent to him for free to review? He got this and other items from Savotta and will continue to get stuff. It looks like it was his first time using it. Complete shill
That is a very nice pack. I love simple packs without a ton of pockets and loops and straps and pen holders and who knows what else, as it just adds UNWANTED weight to the pack. At least in "MY OPINION" anyway. This pack, without the two outside pockets, kind of reminds me of the older Vietnam canvas ALICE tiny pack which I love. Like this one, it too has poor shoulder straps. I had to duct tape foam padding from a sleeping pad to the shoulder straps, and that helped 1,000% in comfort. I hope they start selling them here in the USA, because I would buy a couple. Are they double or single stitched at the seams or what do you think of the quality of stitching? Keep up the great work.
You can buy them straight from Finland, and as addons you can get that sternum strap and additional pads for shoulder straps. www.varusteleka.com/en/product/savotta-minijaakari-backpack-olive-drab/53847
thumbs up for brutalizing the Finnish language :D Nice vid Ben. It's always good to see something represented from this side of the world. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the review! Jääkäri is Finnish for Jaeger or light infantry man. It's pronounced J ä ä käri, ä is a ong e sound with a tvist on it. Not Yakari. Check eg. my review of the larger pack for pronunciation ;)
I have watched a lot of your videos they're very informative I learned a lot, would you mind checking out my video of my bug out bag tell me what you think please leave a comment thanks Mike
the maximum I'd pay for a sack like that is $50 US. no matter where it's made, who made it or what material is made of, it's just not worth more than that! might aswell just use a gunny sack! ha XD
