@@sandpiperr the story that follows john's backstory and after was pretty good ngl. i think it was up to saw 3d with hoffman ended up being captured in the bathroom. imo
Every saw film after one sucks balls. It's not even a contest. One is a decent film and written well. Every other one is pointless, desperate to gross out bullshit with thin plots and predictable plots
my favorite fact about this move is there was a long conversation about using a dummy in all the bathroom scenes until the ending when Tobin Bell (jigsaw) stands up in the end, Tobin Bell refused and it is actually him laying there perfectly still in every shot.
@@RedundantHuman-CandyBitesYeah Tobin said he felt pretty lonely on set bc no one wanted to sit with him at lunch. (It was probably bc he looked like he’d been shot) 😂😅
I had my friends watch the saw movies to celebrate saw 10 release and someone said in the first scene “why is that guy breathing” and I had to play it off as it being low budget to keep the ending from being spoiled 😂😂
While in film school, Whannell met James Wan. Together, the two wrote a script for what would become Saw. After making a short film in 2003 to showcase the intensity of the Saw script, the feature film version, directed by Wan, was made in 2004 and became a low-budget sleeper hit.
Saw yes, final destination is firmly in the camp of trying to be scream 90s horror without any of the originality, the first movies good and the traps are ok, but it didn’t RULE halloweens box office for a decade straight the way saw did.
What Amanda meant when she said Jigsaw helped her was, he gave her the a second chance at life, by presenting her with a choice to live or die ( much like her drug use).
@@sproductionsinc Depends on the definition, did Jigsaw succeed in saving Amanda's life when she was on a path of getting OD'd yes...was the measure extreme yes...Did it fix Amanda mentally? Absolutely not.
I hope they have someone to help with some info that gets cut bc a lot of Amanda’s actions are explained with her back story. She grew up in an abusive household and turned to drugs. No one in her whole life ever saw her or believed in her to be more than a drug addict. With this you realize that Amanda twisted the trauma of the game into “he did this bc he knew I was more than my addiction” and he was the first to really believe in her. THIS is why she says he helped her. There are so many other things cut from the first few films that really change the way the characters are viewed and show insight into their minds.
Bummed in jigsaw when they changed the line to “I speak for the dead” it just doesn’t hit as hard. This is why the fandom refuses to recognize jigsaw as canon 💀💀
The reactor on the right who had actually seen the film when he was a kid did a phenomenal job of keeping silent for the entire movie. I don't think I've ever seen that before. Most reactions where at least one of them has seen the movie can't help but say spoilery stuff during the reaction, but he really let the other 3 guys absorb the film and make their guesses. Good job.
Yep originally it was a 10 minute short tht they pitched and the production company said no so they had to fund it themselves in under 1m dollars and was filmed in 18 days
@@charlienerd So I’m a big saw fan, so sorry in advance for me writing a book and geeking out. So the story goes James wan and Leigh Whannell graduated film school and wanted to produce a film. They didn’t have any money so they produced a short that took place in one room, eventually wanting to make it into a featured film. Their manager saw the script and told them not to be stupid by making it themselves bc they’re sitting on an amazing idea. Eventually the short gets to Greg Hoffman (yes Hoffman was named after him in homage bc he’s pretty important to the making of saw). Hoffman saw the script and started pitching it all around Hollywood trying to get funding bc he saw the vision. Eventually they signed with lionsgate and we got the well known franchise. Also they ran out of funding and had to improvise by filming b roll of random buildings/ street signs. This is now a staple in the franchise. Also since they had no more money they couldn’t really do the gruesome stuff we see in the later movies so the og saw is pretty tame gore wise. The lack of money is also why when “Amanda” stabs the guy it’s the shadow that’s filmed, this is bc filming was over so they dressed Leigh Whannell as Amanda and painted his nails. During that scene if you don’t see Amanda, then it’s probably Leigh Whannell 😂😂 They also never intended on a sequel and the reason saw 2 is kind of the perfect sequel is bc it was originally a script for an entirely different movie and people were like “this kinda sounds like saw” so they tweaked the script and that’s how we got saw 2. If you made it this far I have more fun facts like the only time Billy’s name is mentioned and Amanda and Adam’s relationship (they know each other and it was cut). I’ve spent a lot of time analyzing this series so any questions I’m game!! Thanks for reading my nerdy comment!! ❤
"Less story, more gory." Nah, man. While the gore does increase, so does the story. Everyone who gives the Saw series a watch realizes how great and complex it is. You're going to love it!
100% agree. Its a horror soap opera its ALL story, traps are just a bonus, and yes they do up the gore in later traps. But its still all story and characters.
For real I think some people get so overwhelmed or captivated or whatever by the amped gore that for them it overshadows the fact that the story and character work with John and his apprentices just gets bigger and better
@@theunknownuser9609 Also I think its easier for people to associate traps with it because that's what sells the tickets and some people may find the timeline convoluted (it is lol) but I'm doing a Saw timeline on my channel to hopefully help casual audiences not be confused and have it be a treat to fellow fans to enjoy. But it can be intimidating to someone new trying to catch up.
@@TheJigsawFiles Horror soap opera is literally the best way to put it lol The story gets so complex and convoluted and you get flashbacks within flashbacks of flashbacks lol I absolutely love it and this series ❤❤

My favorite horror theme ever. I get the chills every time it starts at the end of the movies, because I know we're about to get all the flashbacks and the tea lol
Saw is one of my favorite franchises. There is a lot of philosophy and psychology to discuss about them. The overarching story is great. It is a wild ride.
Don’t tell me you think jigsaw is saving people and that it’s their choice if they wanna live😂 that argument wouldn’t even hold up for 5 seconds if he was charged for his crimes
It’s crazy that this movie is what started both James Wan and Leigh whannell rise into being amazing filmmakers. Also best theme and amazing ending. Hearing Adam’s terrified scream even when the screen goes black leave you so shocked. Especially with that game over.
What a lot of people forget with Alison holding Zep at gunpoint and not killing him immediately is that Zep is, as far as she knows, the only person who could possibly know where Lawrence is. All she has is that phone, with Lawrence on the other end who has no idea where he is. Ali was trying to save Lawrence as well.
This is a really good example of tension building in a film, with very limited budget and locations. It still makes me squirrely seeing it. Leigh and James did a phenomenal job with this film
James Wan and Leigh Whannell made this movie when they were fresh out of film school with a shoestring budget. The twist endings in each film is what makes them so good. Some sequels are good, some are not, but each one reveals a little more of the plot in a story that becomes one huge puzzle. The last one, Saw X, is really good, maybe the best since the original. I hope you enjoy this ride! I saw most of them on the cinema.
In the scene where Adam was using his camera to light up his dark apartment so he could see, it looks like Blake missed every single camera flash. He was covering his eyes or looking away for every single one. That scenario was creepy. If you were in that situation, and someone was in the house, and you’re using the flashing camera to try to see. Scary as hell. What’s lurking in the dark?
It reminded me of the Shutter (2004) movie. When the lights went off and the camera started taking pictures of the photographer and could hear the long shutter sounds, light flashes and the vengeful ghost just appearing in random places of the photo studio haha. Petrifying scene.
No matter how many times I watch saw that jumpscare always gets me! I hate jumpscares bc I think they’re cheap and not actually scary but that one is just done so well. The buildup is great so that jumpscare gets a pass! 😂😂
Reminds me of that part of fnaf sister location where u have to use the camera to spot where funtime foxy is.but nonetheless this situation is scary too because u dont know what will appear behind a flash of the camera
Yay finally!! You have no idea how much I love your reactions, I feel like a friend of the group. Now I'm going to take my moment to enjoy an hour of reaction!
Love the Saw franchise so much honestly. So many twists and turns. I remember the final twist of this movie had my jaw on the floor when I first watched it
I felt like a dirty liar when I purposefully led my friends to believe jigsaw was zepp when I made them watch it 😂 I even had to gaslight one when they pointed out John breathing in the opening scene! Totally worth it tho. I got to watch everyone have the same face I did. They didn’t even know the saw movies had twists. For the rest of the franchise I let them try to solve it but everyone deserves to be slapped with the og saws ending 😂
That's awesome the only 1 I met so far was Danny Glover had him sign a 11x17 also signed by Tobin Bell but indidnt meet him yet got it thru a private signing
Saw is my most favorite comfort horror franchises of all time! And to watch y’all experience these movies for the very first time is an absolute JOY! I could not stop laughing at y’all’s reactions. 😂❤
I do appreciate that the first movie focuses less on the gore, while still making you squeam as your brain makes up the parts they don't show. Great reaction, you guys!
Everytime I see this movie it baffles me how unfair that flammable jelly trap is. The guy is poisoned, walking on broken glass, covered in flammable jelly, has to use a candle to figure out the safe combination without catching himself on fire. And there's a thousand numbers on the wall
Fantastic reaction guys. Some of the immediate sequels and "Saw X" were pretty damn great. So don't think it's a simple decline in quaility. Your mileage may vary. Even if there's some bad movies, the filmmakers do try to weave an interesting story and mythology. I recommend checking out some of the others.
This is one of my favorite franchises ever and my favorite movie to watch people react to. One of the best twists in cinema. I am SO hyped for your reactions to the rest! Maybe you can rank all the traps as well! Thanks for doing this guys 😊
When they were talking about him I was saying out loud "it's Danny fucking Glover". 😂 I don't know why it still surprises/shocks me sometimes when younger folks don't recognize the people I grew up watching in movies. That's life I guess. 😁
React to the films: TERRIFIER (2016) and TERRIFIER 2 (2022), these films feature the most insane and merciless villain in the history of horror films... serious, including the third film that will released later this year, it's worth checking out.
The guy that woke up in the tub and James wan was their first movie big break. They came from Canada and the first written movie play was too gruesome so they came to California and told them to make some changes and they directed it. Fricken awesome when I saw the documentary on it
OMG...i literally searched for your reaction for Saw YESTERDAY and was so bummed i couldnt find one and i just got off the evening shift at work...my god you saved my weekend!
Now, admittedly, Blake is great eye candy. But why are y'all torturing that poor boy? 😂😂😂 We all know he can't stand THIS level of of horror/violence/gore.
Blake is that puppy that never stop barking. Bad puppy need to be disciplined once in a while and horror movies makes him behave. And that's when he is most adorable. 😋
Not sure if you’ll see this or if it’s been said, but Dr Gordon is played by an amazing actor. He was Robin Hood in Robin Hood: Men in Tights and he was Westley in The Princess Bride. His name is Cary Elwes and almost unrecognizable with his acting here.
Jigsaw made Amanda a chance to win the game and made her appreciate her life she was kind of reborn when faced with iminant death you survive it gives you an new appreciation for your life
"Bro just didn't move for three hours?" Check the scene where Tapp and Sing found the old guy chained up in the factory. "Awake already Jeff? I'll need more powerful tranquilizers next time." He was testing how long he'd need to sedate himself for.
Can i just say as a massive saw fan saw are NOT torture porn horror its a massive arguments between fans and the film certificate people that is still ongoing
Welcome to Saw! Jigsaw is a freaking mastermind. He is a genius and one of my favorite anti heroes. That's why I love this series. I still remember going to the movies around Halloween each year to see these. It was such a good time.
Aa a docotr in a social profession, Lawrence was too insensitive with his patients, as he didn't even know John's name. That might have been another reason he was chosen. Like only seeing the illness and not the person with its individual needs behind it.
Oooh very spoopy 👻. 1 down 9 more to go.... Not my favorite series but at least the first ones are cult classics and I like that it's mostly new for all of you. Whatever you guys are watching I'm here for it though, I'm here mainly for the Raggedy.
Never been so early! Oh, this franchise is... a thing. Strap in. Try not to think too much about it. The lore is a clusterfuck. But it's a fun ride overall. Loving your reactions as always!
They get WORSE as they go on get ready, igli as they go on you get to see more about what makes John Kramer do what he does and you get to see johns life and what made him become the way he was, it will ALL MAKE SENSE.
Not my favourite franchise and its a lonnnng one lol but I’ll watch it for you guys, saw X is my favourite, you have to do a horror reaction at some point where your all together, If you guys haven’t seen the Jordan peel trilogy you HAVE to watch it GET OUT, US and NOPE, also CANDYMAN the original and the sequel.
Oh, man you're in for one wild ride! Most of the sequels are actually prequels that take place a year before the events of the first SAW movie, as well as a spinoff film called Spiral: From The Book Of Saw, starring Chris Rock and Samuel Jackson. An eleventh film, SAW XI, will be released on September 26, 2025, as the release date was pushed back due to the results of the SAG AGTRA Strike.
A big break for Leigh and James. Just like what Paranormal Activity did for Orin Peli. Elise Roth with Hostel. Jeremy Reddick with Final Destination. A new generation of horror creators.
Yes, the Gideon Meat Plant map in Dead By Daylight has a room that resembles this bathroom and also has some corpses that appear to be Adam and Lawrence. The pig is a killer and Detective David Tapp is a survivor from this series…and of course the head trap!!
