Day 18 I hiked with a new group, Cornbread, Rhino, and his friend Steady. They're all veterans like me and are hiking with the Warrior Expeditions group! I had a great time hiking and chatting with them :). Unfortunately, I have very little footage from this day because my battery pack quit working on me the night before so I had to ration my phone battery. Thankfully, Cornbread let me use his battery pack in the evening so I was able to get more footage the following day. Thank you, Cornbread!

Day 19 I woke up at 0500 and night hiked for the first time for about 45min until the sun came up! I was trying my best to hike the 6.6mi to the Fontana Hilton to catch the 0915 shuttle, but I missed it by 15min! Dang. At least I got to see just how sweet the Fontana Dam Shelter was! I even got to shower at the nearby bathroom so I didn't smell bad when I tried to hitch my first ride, which I managed to do successfully on the first try! Tom pulled over and picked me up, told me he was a shuttle driver for hikers and knew I wanted to head to the Village and Resort. He was very kind and I was relieved that he was not a weirdo. 😅😂 I spent the rest of the day doing my laundry, resupply, editing, and eating!
