Holy cow, the past three days in the Smokies have been a TEST of my will. Today was the break I needed! Join me as I start off my day with the coldest temperature I've had so far on trail, and I'm still in my wet clothes! As I start hiking, I'm able to warm up with the suns starting to peek out from behind the clouds. I venture through the mystical pine forest of the Great Smokey Mountains and I make it to Newfound Gap where I find Trail Magic!! These Trail Angels truly lifted my spirits with snacks and conversation. After three days of wearing wet and cold clothes, I'm finally able to dry off a bit while relaxing in sun in the camp chairs provided but the Trail Angels. A few sodas and candy bars later, once my happiness levels were recharged, I set off on trail again only to encounter...snow?! I thought I was past the cold! Haha well lucky for me, I only had to hike through it for an hour until I made it to the shelter and secured a spot within. Today was MUCH needed and I'm so grateful for it. 🥰
