You are a very blessed to have a real man like Eddie working with you. You guys make a very good team the way you work together. Years ago I had a friend in Missouri that had a great business with his saw mill. Brings back a lot of memories watching your videos as they are well done. Many thanks guys
I have made so many things out of wood over my 85 years. It's so nice to see where all that wood cames from. I have built houses, furniture, and so many other things. It's good to see trees are a restoreable gift. if man would only take care of what God has given him as a gift. Keep up the good work. Enjoy watching your vidios.
Can't wait to see the new edger! My son and I went back and watched the videos where you moved the sawmill from that old ramshackle building. That was quite a job you all tackled!
I also like the new intro, and looking fwd to seeing the new edger. The hemlock looks to be a pretty hard wood. Im from sask can and do see a lot of the hard woods here. Live chat is a good idea for sure.
I think it’s the hardest of the soft woods would that be correct mark? I know we will saw it when the logs sit around for a while they become very difficult to cut.
I don't know what it is, but I could watch and listen to you guy's for hours. It is so hypnotizing to watch. I know it's very hard work for you an Eddy but you make it feel like we are there along with you and the little tips you give along the way. Thanks for sharing. Cheers
Thanks for showing where the sawdust goes! And seems like yesterday it was snowing and freezing cold, my how time flies for us whipper-snappers!! GREAT content and editing.
One of the timbers I had the misfortune to have to cut here in Australia was Ironbark. You have to machine and work it withing about 24 to 36 hours. If you let it sit for more than 24 hrs it will destroy any machine you try to use. It goes harder than anything I have come across. Fence posts cut and shaped over 100 yrs ago are still in use as they are almost impervious to rot and decay
Taking your time and you do it the way that you feel is safe. There are many Monday morning advisers but they should concentrate on their own sawmill operation. I like the fact that safety is your #1 goal in your operation.
Hi Mark, Eddie, and ZZ Mark, love the videos, we look forward every week to your all round videos 📹, and a big yes to your question regarding question time. Guys you are outstanding 👏, please keep the entertainment coming. Number one channel on RU-vid and the rest of the world don't know what they are missing. Be safe out there and bless you all. 🙏 John and Barbara. North East UK 🇬🇧 👌 ❤️
I miss Hemlock. The blight or whatever it was went through and killed EVERYTHING. Good sawing and I also miss the red down on the boards from the bark. Thanks and GBWYall!
wow mark and eddie those were some great looking logs and made some fine looking lumber.ya'll are just good ole boys from the mill in imperial,pa. great video.
Hey Mark: Keep a Garden Sprayer filled with a mixture of lemon juice ( citric Acid) and water and epsom salt to stop maple from staining, also works on black walnut! Spray it as soon as you sllce it!
Wow Mark, really nice to see you guys have an opportunity to saw some fresh logs! The hemlock was absolutely beautiful and yielded some outstanding wide boards for your order. We missed seeing Z Z Mark at the mill today but as usual Eddie handled the off-bearing with great skill. Hopefully, your pine/spruce log inventory will be increasing soon. Looking forward to seeing more lumber orders filled. The announcement about ordering the new edger is exciting news! Looking forward to see which brand of edger you decided on. Another great sawing video guys! Have a fantastic week! I think “Chewy” is an excellent name for a chain turner.
My dad cut logs in late 1940s/early 50s (with a crosscut) for the largest sawmill in western Arkansas and learned to trim the logs very closely. During my early and teen years he owned 3 different sawmills. I saw him "educate" loggers, on two different occasions, about those "little nubbies"....lol
Sounds like you have a bit of a miss in your edger engine. I definitely liked the live chat. Keep it up gentlemen! You're one the highlights of my day! Thanks so much for all your hard work!
I tried to watch the live show but gave up because the sound issues. (I sold home entertainment equipment for a while and found that people would go for a system with only adequate picture but superior sound.) I look forward to the next attempt. I enjoyed today's video with the good logs and edging
I liked the live chat and I'm sure the next will be a lot better once the issues are resolved. I also like that you limited the time. Some of those go on way too long. Bill
2:30 pm here n still 70% humidity. Sucks n in the 80's .after working in the saw mill i know the boom you mention but that same boom is not heard on this side of the video.we barely here it fall.just so ya know.most live chats I've been on go so fast they can't read the names fast enough let alone answer any questions.
Mark and Eddie, another great video. Hemlock sure is pretty wood. Missed seeing ZZ, but as you said, he deserved some downtime. I feel like I won the lottery since you are using my "Chewy" suggestion! That's awesome. Also, I'm not sure if you've made any previous videos on the edger, but I'm just not exactly sure how that works. It looks like you make some pretty extreme adjustments that i can't wrap my head around. Have you done a past video on it? If not, can you do one showing the details on measuring, adjusting, and final outcome? I've never really been around sawmills before, but find it fascinating. Keep the videos coming.
I do not like staining hard maple. I had to work a table top three times to get what I wanted. It turned out beautiful but it was a pain. Red oak, white oak, cherry, soft maple (ok not my favorite), black walnut, hickory and ash are wonderful to work with.
I’ve watched your channel from the beginning and I’m happy you will be getting the new edger because now you’ll finally have a mill where you’ll just have to maintain it instead of rebuild it. I also caught your comment about talking when not filming; do you mean you’ve never thought out loud before?
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned it before, but would it be beneficial to have a horizontal laser set to the top of the blade? Then on the bigger logs you would know the breakthrough. Just a thought and as always enjoy enjoy all your videos. Tell Eddie I said hi !
Definitely like the new logo. Still not entirely clear how the edger works what with Mark and his measuring stick and moving the right side adjustment bar side to side. What was the number on the instructional video you did? I need a refresher course. Congrats on blowing way past 50K subscribers! They’re really rolling in.
When edging a board with 2 live edges, how do you position the board to create the 2 parallel edges when you don't have a straight reference edge to begin with?
how is the kiln coming? I have not heard much about it. Same good quality video, thank you. I would like to help support the channel, but I am on a limited beget and can't afford to do so. I hope others watching can support you and Eddy! Thank you.
You should invite Mike to come down from Outdoors with the Morgan’s. Since he’s right there in Pa. I believe he’s not to far away from where you guys are at.
many many moons ago when i hauled this as 4ft pulp we called it hemeroid cause it was real heavy to handle on the truck and ya thought it would make em hang out if ya know what i mean lol
Does ZZ work at the same Powerplant from the series "SEE" with Jason Mamoa? When they went to the large city the gate was a Pittsburgh MTA bus. My grandson Riley is 3 yrs old today 22 and says BANG!
I was at my local sawmill about 10 years ago and they were sawing logs square. Just knocking the slabs off the outside and that was it. I asked why and they said it was cheaper to ship the logs to china and have it sawn and ship the lumber back than it was to saw it here. They were just squaring the logs up so they didn't take up as much room on the ship. Unreal.
