The scaler team has to be one of the most passionate plugin teams around, tons of free updates and a super reasonable purchase price! Many thanks for the updates and walkthru's on all this stuff, its insanely appreciated.
Hi Davide, I always appreciate how you illustrate new Scaler features in the context of a making a demo song from scratch. A very practical way to learn about new Scaler features. Thanks to you and the whole Scaler team for all that you do for the music community!
Thanks Davide and all involved in Scaler. I've been a user since the start and it is such an integral part of my workflow now and I'm constantly learning something new. All the best and thanks again.
It is marvelous to see what's possible to accomplish with Scaler. I love to see your tutorials as they are straight and get to the point, thank you very much!
@@SchoolofSynthesis I gladly pay for more tutorials like I did for the last you provided. Or you could setup a Patreon account for RU-vid videos as I am sure there are more people out there giving you support via such channels
Hi Davide, great demo and performance, as always! Thumbs up! BTW, I am working with Scaler since v1.0 and its my bread&butter workhorse since its release! Greetings to the whole team and keep up the perfect work for us musicians! Appreciate every minor & major release of it!
Greetings back to you Tom and great to hear - Scaler has been my bread and butter workhorse too! There's a way to go and lots of improvements to come in the future ✌
I love Scaler it is one of the amazing Vst in the market and very useful since I started my music production journey. Thank you David for explaining new features and also thank you for giving us this amazing and beautiful vst.
This is so incredibly cool. Thank you for videos. They are so informative and easy to follow. Showing the tool within the creative process really drives home how to practical apply the capabilities of the plugin.
Interesting tool. Seems like an AI shortcut to actually writing and playing the music. Nice composition. I still enjoy putting fingers on the keyboard to create. Maybe this would help on those creatively stagnant days.
Thank David this bring a lot more idea and experimentation to the table and it would be really cool to see people come up with videos about how to use scaler for game soundtrack and orchestral since no one so far made one if i am correct.
Hey Peter I have done many game soundtracks using Scaler and there are a couple of vids on this channel where I demonstrate one or two and I have been keen on making a full orchestral score video too. Will get to it soon!
@@davidecarbonemusic That would be great David since i can see the potential for orchestral but i just have average theory so what i came up with so far is probably a very tiny exemple of what scaler can really do.
I have Multivoice output set up with BBC orchestra in reaper using Sustains. I have scaler on track 1, then i make 5 other tracks each with BBC discovery free orchestra. I then set those tracks to recieve the midi from the track with scaler channels ch6(contrabass) ch5(Cello) ch4(Viola) ch3(violins2) ch2(violins1) and channel 1 comes out in the scaler track right. So what I do next is in Reaper we can use track "input fx" these are pre fx before the sound, so what I do is a put a midi note filter that turns off keys 1 to 127 and only allows the CC values for modwheel and sliders to come thru. I set this midi filter as an input fx on every track with the BBC discovery instruments. Then I keybind my chord set in scaler, enable all tracks to be turned on(ready for recording) I can play the chords using keybind with one finger and control the modwheel for every track all at the same time, my chord is spread out properly to each track how it should be. This is a massive time saver. I will be making a tutorial on this eventually. The reason why i use BBC discovery is I found out that Kontakt does not allow midi to pass thru. So we can't actually use Kontakt libraries for this template. So what i do next is I have a custom button in Reaper I made that will legato and overlap 5 pixels. I can do this to all tracks at once then just move the midi over to a better string library from Kontakt. This is the fastest method online for composing lush strings and have all the CC lane done instant. Thanks for making that mutli voice option. I will be making a tutorial on this eventually. It may only work in Reaper.
@@anthonythompson1659 I will try to have it uploaded in the next 2 to 3 weeks, very busy with music work atm. And I need to make another tutorial on making custom articulation banks for Reaper's Reaticulate program. I don't think a lot of Reaper users know about this.
I sort of 'cringed' when I heard this was Anime...but this is just outstanding. Never thought Scaler could do a Stereolab type track (which this really is!)
It would be great if Scaler had the option to use the top note of a chord as the melody of a song, to be able to come up with colorful chord progressions
great as usuall but i would really love to see some improvements on the UI on that top part "Performance" - there ar so many catalogs there its too confusing switching these now.
Hi David. I'm very impressed with the latest update of Scaler 2.8. I followed your anime demonstration but when I dragged the midi recording into the Scaler 2 track in Reaper for some reason, it plays back the chords in a different order when it uses Scaler 2's own Substantial synth as the playback instrument. Transfer the midi to say a track for Vivid Keys and it plays perfectly. Eventually I just created an empty Scaler 2 track with Substantial as the instrument and moved the exported midi to that. Seems OK doing that.
Hard to know what you are doing there but I wonder If you left the bind key on and were retriggering the triggers. If you are needing some help with scaler the community is a great place to go as there are thousands of helpful users over there forum.scalerplugin.com
I love all the long lists but perhaps you can create a global setting that will sort lists on recent use. Or an option to ⭐️anything which will show up in favorites on top of every list possible. I mean if a user always likes or uses the bottom options of a list the user gets punished for doing so. This a huge workflow request that simply is not solved by presets. Or what about hiding categories/scales etc. just a few ideas.
as far as I know vocaloid is not using any AI technology to synthesize vocals but just a bunch of samples that are crossfaded and resampled in smart ways, but yeah. it's a cool tool. i can also see how the chords have a certain anime vibe. i wouldn't agree with the sound choice though. it makes it feel more like a chillout/downbeat rather than a cute and cozy anime vibe, but it's good enough as a scaler demonstration video
Vocaloid6 uses AI generative synthesised vocals. No samples there and as AI as AI can be. And yes one persons trash in another persons treasure - case in point the few comments before you loved the track. We are indifferent!
Great Tutorial as always Davide . I have some issues with the 2.8 update. When I load the plugin ableton crashes. I tried all ableton suite versions from 9 to 11 they all crash. I never had this issue with previous scaler versions. Anyone else has come across this issue? I would love to try the new ambient and anime chord sets. Thank you
Hey Sonic, there was an issue with windows users where if they didn't install the full package including extra sounds it would crash Scaler. Either run the installer and install all of the sounds or download the new installer from Plugin Boutique which has fixed the issue.
@@davidecarbonemusic Awesome Davide! Will try that. Thanks for the quick response and awesome work you do. So much appreciated. I wish you a blessed week
if you buy the pro version and upgrade from the trial of scaler 2. expect your app to run a5 10-15 fps, it only stays at a normal framerate for about 30-40 seconds and then it becomes very very choppy, so when you drag your chords around it drags behind your finger about 1-2 seconds, im using an ipad with an a15 chip, i can play gta v on boosteroid without frameloss and no latency this app should be able to run smoothly, i suggest no onebuy it until its fixed cuz its outclassed by other apps that are cheaper and dont overheat the devices
Hi leader, not sure what's going on there but it is fine for tens of thousands of users on iPad. We've tested and use it daily an don't have those issues. May I suggest you head over to forum.scalerplugin.com and let the devs know what setup you are using including whether you are running standalone, within a DAW, AUM etc so someone can attempt to help you. Devs are really good at addressing things. Hope that helps.
Devs identified an issue where windows users were not installing the full package and it would cause a crash so either install the full package (with extra sounds) or get the latest installer from PIB which fixes this issue. Hope that helps.
Hello everyone, I am having problems playing chords. Since I’m not good at music theory, I want to use the Key-Lock Function so that when I press a key, the chord of a certain scale plays. My problem is that when I press the E key for an E min chord, it plays a G maj chord. What is the problem? I have looked for several hours to see what the problem is, but I can’t find a solution. I´m using FL Studio. Can you help me? I would really appreciate it.
I've had this question for a while and haven't been able to find the answer yet, hopefully you can answer. When using "Suggest Mode", does scaler only take into account the chord selected and the ones before it? What if you choose a chord in the middle of the pattern? It would be cool to have a starting chord and final chord that you like and then use the suggest mode to find chords in the middle. Is that better suited for one of the other tabs (Chord or Mod) even if you're not attempting to change the key?
Go back to your account at Plugin Boutique and select Scaler 2.8.2 and download and install it. There was a bug in an earlier 2.8.2 installer which was replaced with the one they have now. That should do it.
Is there any way to make Scaler not play the cord when you click and drag on a chord with the cursor? It plays at a high velocity and sometimes it's extremely loud compared to what I'm actually working on. Love to know if I'm missing something here!
Hello David! I am an scaler 2 user and have purchased the item for my computer two years ago! Now, I get a new computer but I do not see my serial number on Plugin Boutique where I bought scaler2! I have my invoice with me! Can you help me?
Hey Leon, we don't have anything to do with Scaler 2 in terms of sales. That is handled by Plugin Boutique. Give them a email outlining your situation, if you purchased Scaler 2 then it will only have come from Plugin Boutique and they will be able to help you.
Works fine on our end. Given your error I am assuming it relates to something else. Try reinstalling (please install all content including extra sounds) and restarting your machine, if you are still having trouble please head over to forum.scalerplugin.com
Scaler Control is a MIDI FX only available in Logic Pro, you can route to third party instruments in any DAW. For some more help with the software head over to forum.scalerplugin.com or check out the official Scaler 2 Course
You need to have a very advanced grip on music theory to use Scaler 2 otherwise you are pissing in the wind. I mean all the modes like Dorian. Would not have a clue which mode to use.
@@false-set Ha you can open either. Works well but the GUI is a bit awkward as DEVS have said they haven;t had much time with Logic Pro but working on improving that experience!
!!!!!!! Why doesn't Scaler 2 work anymore in Version 2.7.2 + 2.7.3 +2.8.0 // only Version 2.7.0 works fine !! (Windows 7 / PC / Cubase 9.5 ) 😢😢😢 extremely annoying !!!!!!
@@SchoolofSynthesis But when you bought Scaler 2, it says that it works in Windows 7. Otherwise I would not have bought it! In 'Scaler 3' it would have been fine if you didn't support Windows 7 anymore. But suddenly stopping Windows 7 support is very annoying. In addition, Scaler 2 says in the product description that it runs in Win 7.
@@SchoolofSynthesis (btw) Windows 7: The brand new highly complex chord program 'Toontrack EZkeys 2' also supports Windows 7 ! So it's entirely possible.
@@RenevolutionAccount But it does work in Windows 7, just use Scaler 2.7. You've been using it since 2.0 with full support, but software is dropping windows 7 support since Microsoft stopped supporting it. We're not sure what the devs can do about it but go over to forum.scalerplugin.com to see if there is a dev response there. Don't think we've seen much demand for Windows 7 support from our end.
because anime was written in the scaler or because you took Vocaloid it did not become an anime track. It sounds like weird old-fashioned music, not at all cute and completely devoid of feelings. and also the progression of chords on only iii degrees.. using gray chords you do not become jazz players, you become someone who stuffed just what was at hand. I would listen to at least one soundtrack from the anime and watch the progression before writing in the name of the anime
I'm a huge fan of Scaler and what David did in terms of programming, education and the latest Scaler course. I'm sorry, but this last update is a complete disappointment. This new stuff sounds horrible. New features make no sense at all. Where you find all this stuff to add to your backlog? I see no way someone can use this "anime" stuff in a meaningful way. I don't want to be rude, but the development team moves in the wrong direction...
Hey Justin, Davide is only using one of the 66 chord sets which is amongst just some of the material in Scaler 2.8 There lots more have you downloaded and have a listen? So if you don't like the anime stuff, you may find something in the other 99% of new material in 2.8
@@SchoolofSynthesis My point was a bit different. Maybe someone will like it, but I mean minority. You better interview your users, ask them questions and use case scenarios and create videos that answer some common questions, show workflows, examples, full track creation in different styles, etc. Something valuable and boring, not something useless but shiny. Thanks for your work anyway! Scaler is an awesome plugin
