This car brings back so many memories. My first Scalextric set, my main Christmas gift from my parents around 1966/67, came with a red and a green Mini like this. I remember burning out the motor on one because the brass strips on which the guide is mounted wasn’t properly adjusted, causing the front wheels to spin with little forward movement, just like in this video. Of course I knew nothing of how to adjust it so I ended up with just one Mini.
Great video my friend and great that this little beauty still works, I mean this car is 56 years old being released in Britain in 1966,But a Australian one was released in black and now going for £400+ so good luck getting one of these. Spanish minis have the catalogue number of C45 and come in the green and white /black boxes.
I have three, 2 red ones and a dark green one and I race them. These are rwally strong made cars but I changed the wheels for the front wheels of the Repro Tec FIAT 600 Abarth. The motors are also used for those cute Scalextric Formula junior cars, everybody misses out on these. These Mini's behave similar to the Scalextric Renault 12 Gordini's st first they grumble and seem to have a will of their own, but if the motors get warm they are quite pleasant to live with. Regards from Holland.😂
Looks like you need to tweak the brass strips that hold the guide, it's a one off, so that the tyres get full weight contact on the track. There should be a metal weight bonded under the bonnet to assist traction. Always best to lubricate those old motors before using them. They are a common motor from many of the Scalextric Formula 1 cars around those years. The black sump guard just protects the nylon gear. Try finding a Black Mini Cooper, released only in Australia. The C76 red and green mini cooper cars came out in autumn of 1965 for individual sale, then as a pair in the 'Set 33' figure of 8 track in 1966.
I have the same one in a box I bought at an antique fair. It still has original price on it 23/2 in English pre decimal money which makes it before 1970. Mine has also got the extra water transfers and instruction leaflet as well. How rare is that?
