TheRealHomie , our holy book the Guru Granth Sahib is compiled of scriptures from various religions which have mentioned. The difference is Guru Nanak travelled more than any of those religions founders and saw much more suffering. Thus he started the langar which those religions don’t have

Oz doing langar or seva for the needy is not for the sake of allah or to go jannah. It’s to help the suffering, the three main rules which Guru Nanak has asked us to live by is work hard, share what you can and recite gods name. If everyone in this earth did these things maybe there would be a lot less suffering

I respect sikhism ... but to say that in india only sikhs are distributing food amongst poor..then you are being ignorant brother.. all religion do give back to community in their own way.. hindu and jains do bhandara shia muslim also do langar, sunni muslim distribute during iftar and as already told sikhs do langar especially in harmandir sahib . and we have a lot of NGO and humble people who feed lots and lots of poor people and children irrespective of their religion. Thats why we are an amazement to whole world because all our religion teach us to be in service of fellow humans .

Actually got goosebumps when you said the Sikh community was serving food outside too to the people who weren't able to/comfortable taking off their shoes and coming inside. I swear, I've only ever heard the most incredible things about Sikhs and I really hope to visit a Gurdwara eventually and talk to members of the faith about how beautiful I think their work is.

Sikhs are honestly one of the coolest groups of people in the world, hell their culture is built around martial preparation and maintaining weapons. This is due to the fact that for much of their existence they were constantly fighting off the attempts of the Muslim Mughals to forcibly convert them for anyone. As a consequence they are always expected to be armed in some fashion, this typically takes the form of an ornate dagger (though when I met a Sikh guy here in the US it was just the size of a pocket knife). Just thought that was a cool bit of information for anyone who didn't know.

I want to correct one thing. The VIP ticket thing isn't a lie...they'll actually give you the VIP treatment, and u will get to touch the shrine (Damn, we have paid 1000 Rs for that once) but the point is it is WRONG to give VIP treatment to anyone...it's a temple after all. It is not supposed to be a business place.

First of all you can,t blame it on people or relign all these temples having the VIP temple is managed by State Bodies they control borad and temples Fund ...only hindus among the whole word that dened the management of their temples so they were become only the murthey places ..temples can,t fund poor people nor do they do any bhandra or free food they just used to fund political parties its shame on hindus but most of hindus are still unaware about it ...Join the movemnet Free temples or Reclaim temples ...gave some help or funds to free our temples and these cults ...

diwanshu gupta 100% agree. Hindu temples in India are not in control of hindus because of Article 15 n 25 of Constitution and amendments done to it. Hindus can't even help their poor n needy brethren with the money they donate in their temples. Stop giving donations in big temples which are generally under state govt control n money is siphoned off by politicians and used for their own personal tasks mostly. Even in Tirupati, where donations are huge n humongous... The donated money is under control of non hindus which are on manahing committee appointed by state govt and that money cannot be used for welfare of needy ppl from the community. It could be used for minority appeasement... Who knows??

I visited the same sikh temple you visited at 5:10 when I was in India, it was a lovely experience. I got to try making roti in the kitchen, I guess because I was a tourist, and then stayed to eat. There were people from various religions, and both Indian people and tourists - everyone is welcome. It's very heartwarming

Nasim we can't leave every freaking thing to the PM. He's got far bigger things to take care of than ensuring that Coca Cola is sold at MRP. It is for us citizens to take the initiative and highlight these crimes. There is a redressal system in place, but we just don't use it. We want someone else to do it for us (like the PM?).

And community is called Sikh community. Gurudawara/Sikh temple is thier place of worship. Wordwide wherever Sikh community resides there are gurudwaras and free food called "Langar" is served to all in these Gurudwaras apart from prayers
