Yelp is a website that lists businesses and people can publish reviews of those businesses on it. The word 'yelp' typically means a short sharp cry of pain or alarm. So Scanlan "yelped" the pub. Pinning this for anyone who doesn't understand
I love how everytime Sam makes a joke that sends the whole group into laughter he just has a grin on his face before he takes a drink out of his giant tankard. Its the best thing ever
Mercer is CLEARLY smiling as he facepalms. He just doesn't want Sam to know because it'll encourage him ;) (not that he needs encouragement, of course)
@@Tesoro1996 Yeah, but then you realize you've only actually planned out TWO taverns, and of course the players want to go to a bunch, so then you have to think of Tavern names, menus (Because you KNOW they'll ask), and NPC names/descriptions. I mean, I'll do it, because I love it, but Jesus is that a pain.
@@Hexen_Wulf Matt: See, this is why I'm creating entire continents of content. I have to be ready for _these people_ when they want to drink all the ale in Exandria.
I love the look/grin on Sam’s face. I had a dog as a kid that had that same incredibly happy yet oblivious look on its face every time it would chase its own tail and then “catch” it to protect us. Or would run head first into walls trying to catch a ball.
My favorite part of this clip is the very moment you can see Taliesin's expression go from confusion to disbelief, without him actually moving any part of his face.
I love that there's a perfect cascade of reactions one at a time. It's like popcorn -- Marisha, Laura, Matt, Liam, Ashley, Travis. And then Taliesin just stares at Sam like "...I am deeply unimpressed but also slightly amused but mostly unimpressed."
Everyones reaction is amazing in this, but I especially love Matts reaction, because he tries to hide the fact that Sam got him and then he goes straight to the thoughtful 'how can I punish you for being this terrible' look. But I am suuure it got him. I honestly think many times Matt just looks down or covers his face it's just so the others don't see a reaction. Taliesin was also a lot of fun, but he also often has amazing reactions. The several moments long pause from him as he processes what Sam just did there was great though.
Once had a player rob a shrine to a deity, gave him reverse inspiration, my rule was that on any check of his i like, i can roll a d6 and subtract it from his roll.
@@si2foo Depends on what kind of inspiration we're talking. Reverse bardic or reverse rp inspiration. Bardic is d6 or higher depending on level, I think it is a d12 at this point in the campaign, while rp inspiration, which the DM usually awards as he pleases, is advantage on a roll. If we say Scanlan made the joke (doesn't make sense, since he has no idea what yelp is, then again, he shouldn't know all those songs he sings, unless he makes them on the spot), then reverse bardic inspiration would be the perfect fit, but if it is pure DM hatred, then the disadvantage is more correct.
Holy shit I remember watching this bit for the first time, I was watching it on my phone in public and was drinking water. I ended up laughing so hard I choked and managed to splutter water all over myself. Good times XD
I love how during the build-up to the punchline, Matt is looking at Sam with this wry smile as if to say 'Oh God, what's he doing?' The facepalm shows he wasn't ready.
That one caused Matt to have an existential crisis. At 0:38 Matt looks up from his hand and just stares at nothing and you can almost hear his thoughts "Why am I here? What am I doing with my life? What is my existence?"
Funniest part is, of all the critical role quotes worthy of being quoted. The only one that always comes to my mind is "life needs things to live" in despite the fact that Sam motherfucking Riegel has insane moments like this on a daily basis.
Hello there, friend. So "Yelp" is a website where people review food services such as fast food or restaurants or bars. Since they were heading to a tavern, Sam made a "Yelping" sound to reference checking reviews of the place.
PROzeKToR So yelp is this website where you can post reviews for restaurants, bars, or pubs. Coicidentally, yelp is also the sound a dog makes. So he just gave the tavern 3 stars XD
Yelp is basically TripAdvisor for Restaurants and Pubs, people can post reviews on the site so He was yelping like a dog three times to give the pub a 3 Star Review
Yelp is a site where people can post reviews of restaurants and pubs, kinda like Tripadviser in a sense, but Yelp is also the sound a dog make, so he yelp three times to basically give a 3 star review to the pub
