It's really sad that "a person shot" has become so "normal" that the dispatcher at first is so CASUAL about it. "Yeaaah, we have a person shot"... like "yeaaah, we took the kids to the park yesterday". UNTIL they realize it's a cop shot. Sad.

@@LinksToYourHeart Thank you for your service!!! Unappreciated by most, as usual. You guys are our lifeline!! Had the worst water/ice rescue I've ever been on last Friday. My dispatchers were EXCELLENT at keeping the air clear for about 2&1/2 hours. AND keeping a cool head, which helps US keep a cool head!!! After 1 hour and 44 minutes in the water we got the guy AND his dog out. But, next time could you pleeeease give me the CORRECT address for that "rectal bleed" that my partner and I can't WAIT to get to?? 😂😂😂

They could have noticed that he was an Officer, and avoided shooting at the body armor. It might also have been after he was on the ground. Whomever it was, will be talking about it soon, to take credit for it. Someone will talk. Until then, CPD will be shaking down the city, especially in that area.

@@sith29, from a year or 2 ago. It doesn't happen often, that's why people remember it. Especially, in these areas, where not a lot of this type of stuff happens. If it was in Englewood, the West or South sides, it wouldn't be that surprising...because of all of the shootings in those types of areas.

@@Ramp26-art25, what struggle is that ??? There is a 24/7 Walgreens, a Starbucks, and a church on that corner, 2 blocks away there is a grocery store, a taco place, and a fast food place. A Dunkin Donuts a few blocks further south, as well. To the East, Blaqistanians and Hispanics. To the West, Hispanics, some leftover Whites. There used to be a roller rink west of Pulaski, back in the day.

@@tooruoikawa8985 The National Guard isn't like an "extra" police force. They don't have any "arrest authority". They are a show of numbers & force and there to help police DURING arrests. Especially during civil unrest like riots or out of control protests. They aren't necessarily for "patrol duties" either.

Worked in LE, have listened to calls for years, not trying to impress. Never heard a dispatcher sound so casual when the intell comes in on officer shot. Standard procedure is to put out 10-33 for emergency traffic and not hear another officer state to keep the intell off the air, that was very strange.

Yeah, this is very strange. The officer who found him was almost too calm even when he found out he was a police officer. I know Chicago is violent and these cops are used to people shot but, dang, they sound like robots.

Hats off to CPD dispatchers, i cannot do it. You can tell he doesnt have the basics tool most depts have. Anytime a unit keys up the road it tells me exactly which officer it is. All units are gps tracked, you can tell he doesnt have none of that and completely unorganized

Basic tools? Chicago units are also tracked on GPS. He’s looking at a large monitor that shows him who’s on scene. Unorganized? Whatever makes your ego feel better.

There can not be any urgency. The dispatcher, and responding Officers, must maintain a calm attitude over the radio. If you found your fellow Officer, friend, or family member, could you stay calm enough to give out the necessary details to others that were responding ??? If not, that takes more time for the criminal to escape, and your friend/family member to not get medical treatment. Also, and I have experienced this in combat and in Law Enforcement, when you see someone in certain conditions, you know that there is no reason to rush...no matter how mad you may be. You check for a pulse, out of habit or 2nd nature.

I suggest that you listen to a scanner once in awhile. When a "person shot" call comes across the scanner you will change your mind. The cops do EVERYTHING in their power to find the perp RIGHT NOW if it just happened.
