Yeah man. Saw them live way back with Zao, armor for sleep, and the agony scene. Damn what an amazing show. It was my first time seeing and hearing them and I bought this album and a shirt right then.
I saw Scarlet in San Francisco twice. The Pound SF. Place is closed now. That 2004 show was As I Lay Dying/The Black Dahlia Murder/Every Time I Die/Scarlet. What an amazing show and line-up. The 2005 show was The Agony Scene/Becoming the Archetype/Nodes of Ranvier/Scarlet.
I saw them around that time on a ferret tour. Them, ETID, blood has been shed, remembering never, and twelve tribes. I loved ETID, but at the time, cult classic was hands down my favorite album. My god these guys were so damn good. I still come back to cult classic and their ep all the time.
I saw them live with ETID back in the day. There was a kid trying to be cool and tough at the front. Jon Spencer looped his mic cord around the kids neck while still singing, and the kid shit his pants in fear. Great show!
I remember seeing an add for this album back in 05 or something. This is my first time listening and I can't help but think i missed out on some really good music
I saw these guys in their prime, cult classic days, and it still wrecks my mind that they weren’t one of the biggest metalcore bands at the time. They were like a darker, less complicated TDEP or botch, but with insane breakdowns. And the fact some of them came from spitfire made them even better to me. Miss this band.
@xdeadwaterx I saw them with Zao and The Chariot in 2004. This was The Chariot's first major tour before the first album came out. EPIC show. Scarlet isn't for everyone... but you can't deny the energy they throw around live and how creepy some of their stuff is. They played "Nymphoteens" and during the part where he's screaming sexual stuff, the singer stepped off the stage and screamed it directly at some hot preppy girl (who looked VERY out of place, and frightened).
went to see these guys support nora and hopesfall a few years back, but when we turned up their van with all their equiptment was stolen back in the u.s so they didnt come. sad times
@ANTHMX They are thoroughly dead. Scarlet was cursed with a lot of bad luck, including a couple of van accidents and gear thefts while on tour. Jon went on to front Spitfire, who made (what I consider to be) the "sequel" to Cult Classic entitled "Cult Fiction". It's not bad, but not as magical... the lyrics are still totally fucked though. Spitfire is also seemingly dead, since the drummer has joined Norma Jean so that he can make a lot money and bang groupies.
sorry man, but i liked cult classic alot, becuz every singel song was like fuckin amazing, so was they're 1st one "breaking the dead stare" but when jon left that was it and cult classic was very amped do 2 the ep b4 something to lust about, but in general this was always was not what was expected b'ing a big scarlet fan
dude this is kinda like metalcore but more snowblur that any other genre of music almost like verses the mirror to compare the band to i personally lobe this kind of music and hate poser who just dont know or think they know there music, and ur ignorence is showing.
Precisely ... you're right out of the question. People like you are more focused on categorisation than on the music itself and its message. Get a life man.
