The one for Desilu was used for "Mission Impossible". Coming after the pulse-pounding MI theme, the logo would have little effect.

It was the creepy music,,,, for ones like weiss global after MAKE ROOM FOR DADDY.. i used to laugh at viacom though.. remind me of a LOONEY TUNES toon with the train coming out of the tunnel..

And before that, it was "The Avengers." Is it weird that I never found the so-called "Screen Gems S from Hell" to be that scary? The "NBC Snake" is another story.

The old PBS logo didn't scare me, because I associate it with the "good old days" of 1970s PBS. What was a little scary back then was tuning KQED to see a silent station ID card; back then promos were few and so when a show ended ten, fifteen or more minutes before the next one there would just be dead air and the ID card.

NBC logo is not Scary. The Peacock it's (4me) the most Beautifull logo in the Universe.

@@jwckauman Scared me too, a few years earlier! Partly the sudden transformation from fluff to bird (which is hard to tell here because of the slow frame rate.) The other scary thing, as with many of these old logos: high pitched music played through shrill old TV speakers, heard through young ears that could unfortunately pick up every ear-splitting, skin-crawling harmonic. The logos with early electronic music were the worst, but those tinny speakers could turn almost any instrumentation into a screeching mess.

I once had a girlfriend who gave a Dennys waitress what I called "The Viacom Look", she tried to keep her look pleasant (the white letters), but she was rather perturbed (V of doom), at the waitress's persistence.

I think a lot of times, in my opinion, it's not the logos that are scary , it's the music. Like Screen Gems, PBS, and the unnerving flute in the NBC peacock. Those always spooked me as a kid!

The flute:) I hated it too! I had this repetitive dream as a toddler that they would play a music video then show this, I was terrified! Note: who was scared of the swirling star only because of the music?

Screen Gems and NBC were scary but (as a kid) I never found the PBS logo scary. Actually thought the music was kind of cool-sounding!

Of all the scary logos, the Screen Gems dancing sticks logo, and the 1960s ABC zoom focus along with various other logos gave me nightmares.

Any logo from the 1960's/early 1970's, to me, is construed as scary. CBS' color ID (1966) also comes to mind. Probably because of the poor video/audio quality back then. Maybe if I just turned down the volume........not as scary.

For me, it was the Ruby Spears logo followed by the Lorimar-Telepictures logo with the dreaded 3 jingles after the Alvin and the chipmunks credits in the late 80's or so. Deadly combo. 😄😄😄😄😄

Screen Gems scared me as a kid. As did ITC. The Mark VII logo is unsettling... Rankin Bass is not on the list but that's the worst to me! I like Lorimar & Ubu. The United Artists for some reason I expect a loud sound when the brackets meet... Nice collection here!

I think you nailed them all for me. Mark VII even unsettled me in my 40s after watching Adam-12 reruns. Some things just stay dormant inside you just waiting to come out.

@@eli_hardcore LOL I agree. Some of these logos are endearing, even beautiful like Lorimar, NBC, Hanna-Barbera, and ITC. Even though ITC disturbs me a little. The fanfare is ominous.

@@AramanthDA DA DA DAAAAAAAAA It’s the Muppet show with our very special guest ITC’s not only scary because of the fanfare, the spinning shape makes you feel uneasy. Also how the text “From ITC Entertainment” zooms in. The flower logo was better. The fanfare came from it’s 60s Compass logo.

@@eli_hardcore It's funny what emotions are evoked by these images. The Screen Gems logo makes me feel trapped while as you said with the ITC logo a feeling of unease. LOL So glad that RU-vid has become my "Logo Support Group!".

Will have to disagree with that.........................for me Paramount, V of Doom and S from Hell were ALL a lot scarier than PBS. Actually liked the PBS logo and music (as a kid).

I don't care for: lorimar, regal films I Can't stand: rankin bass screen gems, Millar gough ink, paramedia, warner bros television logo, paramount television logo, v of doom when it comes out of nowhere, mohawk.. I could go on......oh..and fox studios television is creepy too.

C'mon, how is the UBU Productions logo scary? It just shows a cute doggie with a frisbee in its mouth and its owner telling little UBU to sit. If it showed the dog attacking someone or bearing his teeth at the camera, that'd be a different story!

@@baraxor Yeah, at least most of them are, but the UBU voice didn't scare me as a kid--I actually found it hilarious! (Probably helps that his voice doesn't sound dark or menacing). But that's just me. *shrug*
