you have a talent for inspecting for quality & flaws ,so you might also be super good at inspecting brand new cars out of the factory ... I hear many cars have such issues body panels etc etc etc.. @@DominionFretWorks I was thinking you could expand your talent to other things like cars, kitchen products etc .. I once bought a food dehydrator for like 40 bucks complete junk ,but it sure looked good. if we had a dude like you review stuff like this, I wouldn't have bought it.. I only used it like 2x . & other kitchen stuff that seemed good on paper complete junk like my other air fryer

These fixtures test the overall repeatability of the produced manufactured product. Making sure all parts are within factory specs. Myself I do AutoCAD and program PLC and do CAM programs for NC routers. I have been in the wood processing and manufacturing business for 30 years.

The new model also comes with the FR1000 with the Hot Rod kit. This was the last production run before the change. The Guitar plays great.... It is one of those guitars that just makes ya play. Even with the problems.... it is a player.
Hey! Great review! What do you mean the new one comes with a Floyd Rose 1000 with a hot rod kit? Whats a hot rod kit? Also, I just checked the red/black one called red reign at sweetwater and it seems to have the Floyd Rose Special "Hot Rod" Locking Tremolo Is this the new one? If so, which Floyd Rose does yours have? Thanks so much! I'm super curious, as I'm considering getting the red one.
One brand I'd love to see on your channel one day is Sire. I have owned 3 of their basses and 2 of the 3 were just incredible value. Their new guitar line for 2024 is more rock/metal oriented and if the necks are anything like their bass necks, then they're top notch!
As someone who’s in the market for this guitar, this video was really helpful. I’m curious, do you think it’s possible to add an EMG tone knob into the current factory electronics? Again thanks for this in depth look.
There is a factory tone knob already.... I volume and 1 tone. If you're wanting to add a tone ( splitting each pickup so each pickup has their own tone ) I don't see where that would be a problem. I think Adding a volume to each pickup would be more helpful. Then you could blend the tones together... Thanks for watching the video and commenting ! ! ! !
Solid video. The 9 volt batteries are wired in series for a singular 18 volt ststem. So, there is not a separate battery for the sustainer and EMG pup. Both run on 18 volts, just fyi. Also, the sustainiac operates only with the bridge pickup. So, if you're playing on the neck pickup and decide to engage the Sustainiac driver (pup), the pcb will engage the bridge pickup alone, by default. Just trying to shed some light on your meter readings. Hope this helps.
After getting the parts from Schecter... I have received a few E-mails over the Plastics on the guitar.. So far, I have heard from 3 other people that have had the same problem with their SVSS. I going to say I got a bad one... Along with the Crack in the neck... it just one made on a FRIDAY as they say.... It all good.. Schecter had no problems sending parts to fix mine... Thanks for commenting and sharing .
Can you look at your back Plastics and see if they are Warped or maybe try to remove them and see if they also fit VERY VERY tight. If your to pickguard is doing the same .... maybe the same on the back like this one was.... Thanks !
OK just got around to taking back covers off tonight. They were not stuck larger middle one just about perfect smaller one the radius was off on one corner and looks like it maybe was sanded to fit. Battery boxes both had four little screws in the bottom holding them on. Some paint removed on edges compartment like they Milled edges for fit.
Schecter is a great brand. some people may not like the 2x 9v battery box but I prefer this over a Dual 9v battery box in case a battery leaks each 9v is isolated. additionally I tape my 9v batteries for a potential easier clean up and mark the Date and Voltage with a Sharpie. in my opinion ESP makes the best battery box, they make these easy to open ones that don't catch snags on clothes or belts and are flush with the body. I am not sure if Gotoh manufactures them for ESP or another brand but you can buy them over the internet. Thank you for this review. Your videos are educational and entertaining. I learn a little bit about wood working each time 🍺🇨🇦 PS, I was heart broken when I saw the crack in the neck pocket. I hope Schecter took care of you!

Thanks for the effort. I have ordered the black satin one recently. I thought this was Korean made where detailing seems to be more precise. I must say what I see is a huge dissappoinment considering it is around 1000. I will try to cancel my order. I don’t want to deal with such issues really.
The new production has changes... They are now using the FR1000 bridge with the Hot Rod Kit witch is the upgrade from the one on this model. You hope with each production run they make improvements on the guitar. After looking into this production run of the SVSS they had problems with the pick guards and the Plastics. I cannot speak for the newest run of these. I have heard they fixed the problems but have not reviewed one to verify this. I have worked on mine and can tell you that my Guitar has a problem with the route for the pickups ...The pickups are rubbing the route under the pick guard. Problems I hope they fixed on this production run. 1) The route alignment on the pickups to the pick guard. 2) The pre-drill bit size on the neck for the body to neck screws. I did go over the pots in the back board for the Sustainiac... But did not change any of the pot setting from the factory. If you go to chapters, you should be able to find it. Ya doing a video on what happens when you make changes on these pots maybe a good video... Thanks for the input ! and sharing your thoughts.

*Another excellent review!* $899.00 on the Sweetwater site. Made in Indonesia! Your amp set-up sounds awesome. And as I say sound comes from the speakers amplified from an amp and picked-up from the transducers. So your speaker magnets, power supply, etc., are the source of good sound. Sticking to the guitar though, it is these things that count: pick-ups, tuners, bridge, fretboard wood, frets, strings. From your vid, the build quality is suspect for the price spent. I suspect many Chinese made guitars at 1/4 the price are as well made. That said, the EMG pick-up should be better wound with a bigger magnet than a no namer. You could use that as your reference guitar to compare lower priced ones, e.g., Volgoa, Jackson JS series, Leo Jamez, Donner, Fesley, etc. to see if $250 or less guitars compete. Here is my comparison detail. Price: $899.00 Neck profile: C Neck finish: gloss Neck: Maple Fret type: Extra Jumbo Fretboard: ebony Playable Frets: 23 of 24 Pickups: H-H Pickup Output: ? Ya ... this Guitar sadly is a miss for its price point. IMO... Guitar pricing is just all over the place now.... 900.00 is cheap if you really start looking around now at some of these prices.... But then again there are other guitars at the price without the problems. For the same money.. Guitars I have here to compare. Kramer Night-swan ... paid 200.00 less for the Kramer.. Ya I got a SMOKING DEAL ON THE KRAMER ! Yamaha Pacifica flame maple top with SD pickups same price as the Shecter These are guitars that I have here for a side-by-side comparison to the Shecter. Both of them have a better fit and finish without the problems the SVSS has. Guitars I have here that I feel are better than the Schecter SVSS for its price point. 1) Peavey Nitro Active PRICE now ... 1000.00 year 1988 paid 500 in 88 2) Peavey Vandenberg PRICE ... well now they are 2000.00 plus year 1990 I paid 900 in 91 3) Kramer Nightswan 2023 model I can't say what I paid ... LOL BUT IT WAS A GREAT DEAL ! 4) Kramer Assault plus with the FR1000 reversed head stock year 2023 model I paid 750.00 5) Kramer Bretta with the FR1000 year 2023 model I paid 700.00 6) Kramer Imp Pacer Trans 1986 model I paid 900.00 7) Dean MD24 year 2023 model I paid 550.00 All the above was at the same price or lower... and I feel they are better in the QC and overall build. The Schecter only has one thing over the other guitars I have listed... The sustainaic system. it's a fun guitar.. I hope that I just got a bad one. Once I try to install the parts Schecter sent me I'll know more. But you should not have these problems at this price point.
I owned the Reaper its a great guitar but that bridge pick up was so dark and muddy , that said, it was by far the most resonate guitar I have ever played acoustically . I sold it to buy an Ibanez s1070pbz frost white, Now if I could combine the Ibanez with the sustrainiac like Like Mr.Vai has done but keep the zero point system as the trem lol
The Reaper I played... I liked. but this was just over the top with the electronics installed in this model. You can get lost messing around with this guitar .. Time just fly's by !
looks dope but the color reminds me of a yellow taxi cab.. lol Do we have to use the batteries with those , or are they an extra added feature? I never had one of those guitars...but yeah aside from those issues , she sounds super dope .. she has great tone... she can rock out..
@MusicNGear I just noticed on your video that the Trem is a Floyd Rose Special not the FR 1000. It's the same one I have in my Schecter SVSS with Sustainiac. So they didn't upgrade it. The other one I have which is the SVSS 3 has the FR 1000.
I have never seen a FR special that doesn't say Special......The base plate is the same FR 1000 plates I order for upgrades here at the shop. I do a lot of base plate replacements on FR special due to the softer metal in them. This one does have the Harder steel base plate. Remember Shecter is the only company using this bridge from the factory. The Hot Rod Model or the Schecter Hot Rod FR. Schecter has spec'ed this for this guitar. it really is not called the FR1000... The call it the FR HR. Never really looks at the saddles they use on the FR HR to the FR1000 ... they could be a little different... I haven't look at that. But the base plate is 100% the FR1000
WE NEED MORE INPUT ON THIS ! ! ! ! ! ! ok everyone lets talk about the FR bridge and what this one is ...... Is it the HOT ROD.. Is it the FR1000 with the hot rod kit ?? Is it the FR Special with the hot Rod kit ?? Or is it a Spec bridge for Shecter by Floyed Rose
@@DominionFretWorks I'm looking at your video at the 1:17:30 to 1:19:18 mark and it clearly says on the Base plate of the Trem "Floyd Rose" and underneath that "Special", just like mine.
OMG .. it does .... LOL So, they have done the Hot Rod Kit on a FR Special........ That has to be a Shecter spec.... and Floyed Rose is making this setup for Schecter.... If that were a $200 guitar then I could deal with the issues and fix them myself. I love all the features but there is way too many issues. A $1000 guitar should never come new with a cracked neck !
I agree, and if it were me I would return that guitar back to Sweetwater!! I have 2 versions of the Sun Valley Super Shredder the Sustainiac (FR/S) and the ( III ), and both are flawless. Some setup was required, but it was minimal. My ( III ) Arora Burst which is a HSS configuration is my go to guitar. It feels the best and is super smooth and sounds killer!!!
