In a world where everyone is so polarized and so certain of their righteousness, this is the most thoughtful, intelligent description of the situation I've heard to date. If only more people could see it with this level of maturity and understanding.
Agreed I'm really moved by the depth of this conversation. We're so inundated by unscrupulous intentions of many politicians and media it's very meaningful to me to see these guys addressing this moment with sincerity/passion and a genuine desire to understand where we're at. To somehow find a way through it.
I'm a western jew, and I have a few Palestinian friends, but I've always said "hate the government and country, but don't blame the citizens." it is the people in power that turn us against ourselves
@@kp1075 if you've ever voted for a government in any democratic state, you will most likely understand that voting for a specific leader isnt always possible. Often people will vote for more powerful people, that decide who becomes the leader.
Genuinely, shame on all politicians and media talking heads that cannot have a nuanced & thoughtful discussion like this. Unbelievable that comedians are the most sane & rational people left in all of humanity. *Bravo to these guys*
This is probably the best conversation between friends in the public eye regarding this tragedy that I’ve seen. I think… I hope this conversation has been echoed amongst friends worldwide. Bravo.
the issue with this conversation is that its just a conversation.. everybody knows what the issue is, but no one seems to have the solution. we let things escalate to a point where conflict is inevitable and then try to find who is to blame for... happened with ISIS and Syria, then Ukraine and Russia, now Israel and Hamas. Next will be China who is poking everyone and if someone pushes back, they will be made the villain, they occupied HK and no one said a word... UN is one of the most useless organizations out there..
This is a perfect example of postmodernist morality. Acting as if the issue is too complex to understand, that there is no clear line between the victim and the murderer, as if both sides have a just cause. Add to that the Westernized view on ''outside conflicts'', as if the ''other'' live in a bubble of subjectivity and we can see things objectively, yet again, from an objective perspective, we still can't decide who is on the right. This shows that the West has lost its moral compass and the moral high ground that it stands on when ''teaching'' the world what is right and what is wrong. If you use your brain for 5 minutes you will see that the Jewish issue is created in the West, that anti-zionism does not equal anti-semitism, and that Israel is a state of evil that is built on a history full of massacres, racism, apartheid, displacement, and war crimes.
They are just a bunch of forever-young cowards. The world has spoken and is evident. Israel is a colonialist murder and Hamas is the result of Israel crimes since the occupation in 1948. So there's nothing "Complex" to analyze. They don't want to chose the correct side of history cause they are COWARDS. period
Im Palestinian American and I agree whole heartedly. Ive come to the conclusion that I do not side with one side I side with both Israelis and Palestinians. Its time we both live together peacefully ✌🏽
@@awesomeandstuff4698 Israeli ex-Jew here, I wholeheartedly agree with you. We are bound to live together so we must make the best out of it. Peace brother✌

How can you ignore all of this and ask for peace?
If anyone needs more proof that legacy media is dead and doesn't represent the common people and podcasts like yours are the future of open discussion, this should nail it. Well done lads.
They're the new face of legacy media, pushing propaganda with the new fresh face of a group of friends just having a friendly conversation. In a lot of ways it's a lot worse and more insidious than legacy media.

As an Israeli I thank you for this video from the bottom of my heart. I’ve been looking for anything remotely objective and could only find propaganda of either side. I’ve spent my life protesting the government I even got arrested for fighting for Palestinian rights but I did feel betrayed by the global “left” who seemed to be going so far left it was already becoming Palestinian “right” or nationalism. My vision for peace is exactly what you guys did. That everyone needs to acknowledge how fucked up everything is and how true both narratives actually are . My moms grandfathers grandfather was murdered by Arabs in 1888 that’s pre-Zionism. I still believe now more than ever in peace. I hope that Palestine will be free- but they have to redefine what Palestine is cuz it can’t abolish Israel. Never gonna happen . I hope one day there will be no countries like Lennon envisioned… Perhaps consider making a similar “both narratives” about the history from 1850s to 1948. Again… it was fucked up in many ways and both narratives are true. I hope that if many people actually educate themselves on both narratives and a balanced view then the next generation can make peace.

As someone who has both Jews and Palestinians in my family, oh how I appreciate thoughtful nuance and understanding. Conversations like this are way too rare. It's not, evil vs. good, this tribe vs. that tribe. It's escalation vs. de-escalation.
Crazy how people forget where they come from. Genetically many Palestinians are ancestors of jews but have converted to Islam over generations. The importance of understanding two sides to every story is vital and these fellas have just shown why. Hopefully peace is found soon!
I feel that Andrew's expression described the current situation very accurately. Desperation, at a loss, and most importantly, does not believe that things will improve are that there is a solution. We are just watching this unfold and are powerless
Agree apart from one huge thing that Hamas are in the West Bank (they just don’t rule there) along with many other terrorist organizations like the Lions Den and Palestinian Islamic jihad.
Also, Hamas was elected by the Gazan people. They do mostly support Hamas, whereas Andrew said the opposite. Perhaps Palestinian-Americans are a bit more moderate.
Finally I see somewhere someone with common sense and not a polarized view. With great arguments for both sides of the issue. We need more people like you in the media.

Yea well Andrew keep saying " we are not here to offer solutions " how about go against your government policy of not funding the true terrorism isreal is doing in this war since 1948 with their tax money ? That's the first step towards peace that everyone can agree on ? Right ? No ? Okey
There is no moral equivalency between authoritarian, theocratic palestine with democratic Israel. Just imagine the horrors if the palestinazis were actually in charge of the entire region.
Thank you for having an honest conversation. I don't often hear the Palestinian side from American media sources. I say we blame Britain since they started this whole mess.
As a British citizen I can get behind Britain being to blame. Our country has fucking sucked for years and will continue to do so under the current leadership haha
JJ McCullough - The reason people care so much about the Israel-Palestine conflict is because to much of the world, this conflict has come to be understood primarily as a sort of metaphor for what people perceive to be the fundamental themes of power that define our contemporary world.
@@user-tf3jf2fi6dI see the conflict not just as a regional dispute, but as a symbolic representation of broader issues related to power... political power, military power, economic power, even social and cultural influence.
@@user-tf3jf2fi6d Israel basically represents the West and its ability to propagandize and turn almost anything abhorrent into something heroic. Israel was recently founded because of a genocide (holocaust) through genocide (Nakba - first genocide of the Palestinians). Yet Israel is celebrated as a symbol of "freedom" and "democracy" despite having apartheid, deep racism built into the foundation of the country, and actively committing ethnic genocide for decades. They have support all across the West thanks to religious fanatics and zionist power/money influence. It's pretty simple. Did germany commit a crime by eradicating people? Answer: YES. Now change germany with Israel. If the answers change you support a genocide. Pretty simple. How did we deal with the germans during WW2? Same thing applies to Israel.
(I am jewish for context) I have always felt like a stranger in my country. My family comes from lots of different places, I see antisemitism go unnoticed, and my jewish culture separates me from the average Brit. Now, I feel like even more of a stranger in my own country. People in my own city are calling for my death and the deaths of my people. On top of that, people who are supposed to be smart call for our deaths, too. At this point, I want to move to Israel because at least there I belong even if it isn't the safest place in the world. I want peace with the Palestinians, but I also want a safe place to run to where I belong. I want to go back to my homeland, which is historically Jewish. But if I am being honest, I want peace with them, but I feel like they hate us too much. They will also not be free from Hammas for a long time, and until they are, there can not be peace.

One party is called terrorist for doing less than what the other party is doing. One party is founded by the biggest nations economically. One party has been without water, electricity and gas. They’re not the same.
Not denying that Israel has killed civilians in Palestine. But have they ever intentionally targeted over a thousand and raped, kidnapped, slaughtered only civilians with no military target in mind? Israel doesn't want to kill civilians like Hamas, but yes civilians become collateral damage, especially when Hamas hides behind them (well documented).
I dont see any objectivity in their takes, how does the jews living with a fear of being eradicated has to do with them coming to palestine and forming militias and terrorising palestinians pushing them out of their lands to forme a country ?? Zionists are the agressor in this conflict not the opposite. Why are the Palestinians paying for other countries crimes against the jews ??
This is a great conversation, much much needed empathy which is greatly appreciated. Speaking personally, I had no opinions or feelings on this conflict until October 7th, and since then, I have done a tiny bit research on it, and while I still don't take one side over the other unilaterally because it's important to never forgo my right to change my mind given new evidence, information, or perspectives, I must say in response to your final statement that you called for a ceasefire that I was in full agreement with you until I found out less than a week ago that they were in a ceasefire since June or July of this year until October 7th. Maybe that changes things, that's all.
a ceasefire would stop the killings of innocent Palestinians. More than 20,000 are already dead. What more can you possibly want? Israel is not just attacking Gaza, it's also bombing Lebanon and Syria. There is no peace without freedom. Why could Israel limit Gaza's trade activities and ban items like chocolate and coriander is beyond me. Those 1000 lives were innocent but what about the 20,000 ones. were they not? they talked about an Israeli 8-year-old, what about the thousands of Palestinian children?
Thanks guys for a honest discussion regarding the current state of affairs. You are showing the world how it is possible to have these conversations. Good job boys, proud of you guys.
Hey Guys, As an Egyptian i get it, I get how being far from the conflict and not following the events on like a daily Basis that you may be confused of Who's right and Who's wrong (If that's even a thing). A better way to look into it is to look on What's right or wrong (What not Who) and then start make an opinion on the events itself , then go back and see who did these horrific events then any automatic bias will be eliminated. One thing i can't keep out of my mind is that the world is convinced that the conflict started on 7th Oct, and the discussion start from there. it has been more than 75 Years!! Killing Civilians , Kids and Women , Innocent people is disgusting and is an act of terror, so in both sides it should be condemned so go back and look on the numbers and events, then and only then you would be able to make clear statements who deserve to get the terrorism label.
Great take, guys! It's a highly complex situation; I appreciate your honesty in acknowledging that you maybe don't know enough but have made some observations and that it's a terrible tragedy all around.
If they don't know enough.. they should just shut their face. This is their PR team saying.. OK guys.. you have to make a neutral statement so you don't piss off your Jewish and Muslim fans. Instead.. they opened up their stupid mouths and compared Americans who support the troops to Palestinians who support Hamas.. a terrorist organization who has in their charter, the complete deletion of all Jews.
It’s both sad and beautiful to see men with good hearts come together and believe that because they want the best for their brothers and sisters- that their leaders do to.
How is THIS the most thoughtful and compassionate conversation I have heard about this conflict to date? Thank you, gentlemen, for asking the right questions. As a veteran, I have seen firsthand the monumental difference a change of perspective can make. As Americans, it is unfortunate that so few of us ever leave our own borders. We are left at the mercy of other people for everything we understand about our world. That is its own type of imprisonment.

This was a great and balanced conversation. I truly enjoyed this commentary. In my opinion…it starts with empathy. Plain and simple. One has to be able to understand the plight and feelings of others.
As a Palestinian, I appreciate the discussion and I understand the empathy displayed. To clarify, we are not against Jews, we are against Zionism. In historical Palestine, Muslim, Christian, and Jewish Palestinians were all living side by side in peace. Israel is a modern-day western colony serving a western white imperialistic ideology. It was never about religion. This is coming from a Christian Palestinian.

@davidbell7137 here we go, undoing literally everything that was said in the video. There's always someone who doesn't have half a brain to keep his bigotry to himself. What a powerful segment. I have a deep sense of respect for all members of this discussion. I have an emotional connection to the conflict through friends and family, and even then it's clearer than ever that this conflict is directly the result of neglectful leadership and a lack of communication. Both sides have been demonizing each other for as long as anyone can remember, and the refusal to look forward instead of tallying up blame and perpetuating paranoia is the cause of citizens dying.
First time I've listened to people talk about the Palestine-Israeli conflict without feeling biased towards one faction. It's interesting how the soundest of argument is coming from podcasters and not the people in places of power. Flagrant is doing some wonderful job.

With the much-needed thoughtful, balanced, and empathetic position you have taken on both sides, in a future episode can you share what we can do to support? Can Flagrant do a fundraiser that most effectively gets to the organizations on the ground?
As an Israeli I'm grateful for this conversation. The approach you guys took shows your values, that you put humanity high up and that's all we can wish for. Utmost respect for how mindful you were to address both sides, with humility about how much you do and do not know. This war is a nightmare come true for our country. I can only imagine the pain on the Palestinian side. The reality is that both sides are engulfed in pain beyond comprehension right now, making a conversation extremely hard to be had. The time will come, it must, only way peace and progress can be achieved. Our lives are consumed with this conflict, and we want to see it end so badly. It'll take the brightest minds years to navigate through the complexities to achieve some sort of resolution that will favor Palestinians and Israelis. Until then - I would ask anyone that's not directly related to the conflict, please please please TREAD LIGHTLY. Although you might not be part of the conflict, you definitely have on an impact on the conversation that broils and the hate it incites. The stances you take, the "facts" you share, might very well add flame to the fire. Respect our pain, be an ally and lead with empathy. May we see peace in our lifetime

I think they did a 100% amazing job on the emotional aspect for Jews and Palestinians. But yes, they missed some important things in the substantive discussion and Israelis provide counterfactuals to each of those points:
It is sad and to a certain degree frustrating when I see comedians having a more mature and in debt discussion then the god damn politicians....(but at least I am happy to see people thinking objectively about it, the shit shoveled by mainstream media was scary)
