SPOILERS For Genshin Impact 3.6: Nahida’s Story Quest II and the world quest Khvarena of Good and Evil. Be prepared for some high-octane tinfoil hat theory.
Hello it's me and I'm back once again rambling endlessly about Khaenri'ah. This time it's Schwanenritter, the Heroes of Dahri that fought the Abyss during the Cataclysm. I have some tinfoil thoughts about Celestial Nails and Anfortas... Alberich? There's also a lot to discuss regarding real-life inspirations for Schwanenritter and this patch in general, including Arthurian Legends, Knights of the Round Table, the Holy Grail, and Nietzsche and Wagner. Kaeya's once again on his world tour and he fits in all this... somehow.

3.6 added so much amazing lore! Khaenri'ah is one of my favorite lore subjects in the game and this patch (or all of Sumeru really) has added so much to what we know about Khaenri'ah and the cataclysm. The Schwannenritter notes really solidify that Khaenri'ah didn't mean to attack, they were just as much victims as the rest of Teyvat (that's how I see it at least). I'm really looking forward to more lore and your videos covering it!

Throughout history, bullsh*t wars have always had real heroes. They just happen to be cannon fodder who pay the price for the folly that happened way above their pay grade. Google the Borinqueneers.

We should probably call them "THE Schwanenritter". "Ritter" can mean either "knight" or "knights". But I'm pretty sure the Schwanenritter would rather say "We are the swan knights.", instead of "We are swan knight." 😅

FINALLY!!! We can talk about how Anfortas is an extremely convincing candidate for Kaeya's awesome pirate grandpa! Also, I just wanted to add a thought onto the Anfortas & Kaeya train of thought: I've read some Arthurian stories for university, including Perceval; the Story of the Grail by Chrétien de Troyes, as well as Le Morte D'Arthur by Thomas Mallory, which draws upon that story (and other sources of Arthurian literature). Anyways, in Le Morte DArthur, the Fisher King is named Pellinore rather than Anfortas, and he's also the father of Perceval. My professor also talked about there being some father & son theming and implications surrounding Perceval and the Fisher King in Chrétien's text. Feel free to take all of that with a hefty pinch of salt, since I'm not really able to cite sources here. I'm just saying that I thought of that during the Arthurian Knights portion of this video. And combining that stuff I remembered with the knowledge brought up in the video on Anfortas, Percival and Lohengrin, here's my very-tinfoil-y idea: If the Fisher King aka Pellinore aka Anfortas = Anfortas Alberich, than Perceval/Percival/Parsifal aka the Fisher King's son = Anfortas's son, and in that case, Lohengrin aka Percival's son aka the Swan Knight = Kaeya. Note also that we still don't know Kaeya's knight title yet. We know that Jean is the Dandelion or Lionfang Knight, Klee is the Spark Knight, Eula is the Spindrift Knight, etc. BUT WE STILL DON'T KNOW FOR KAEYA!!! Which is baffling and fascinating! But it seems to me that the Schwanenritter and Anfortas and the connection to the particular Arthurian Knights mentioned all hint that Kaeya's title may very well be the Swan Knight. Also, for the record, Kaeya could have swan associations in addition to peacock associations. Diluc, for example, has 2 different birds he's strongly associated with: owls and pheonixes (which, in Diluc's namecard and ult, look more like eagles or falcons than owls). Kaeya doesn't appear to have any obvious swan motifs (at least not yet), but for what it's worth, I do find that his original outfit, Icy Featherflight, with its long elegant white cape and the white fur draped over his shoulder, looks more swan-esque than peacock-esque. Also, if you believe the half-Sumeran half-Khaenri'ahn Kaeya theory (which I admittedly do VERY MUCH), you could maybe make a connection that the 2 birds he's associated with each tie into part of his ancestry: the peacock being associated potentially with his maternal ancestry in Sumeru, and the swan being associated with his paternal ancestry with Khaenri'ah, with a particular tie to the Schwanenritter via Anfortas. Sorry, I rambled on with that train of thought longer than I expected to. Hope you find these additional musings at least somewhat interesting!

This is easily the best video on Schwanenritter with all of their lore in here! I liked the connections to the Holy Grail (including Wagner's work with it that you mentioned) and Nietzsche's work. Although I feel as though the Khvarena of Good and Evil quest might instead just reference zoroastrianism, I do like that it could also be a reference to the book you talked about :D

I mean... sure one the one hand it seems obvious that if they mention a regent it must be the same regent in the brick, but then again.... it's so problematic. If Chlothar is an Alberich wouldn't he say something like "I'm from the family that held the regency?" to Sibling? Also who needs a regency when you've got a perfectly good Prince / Princess right there? Isn't it weird that the supposed ruler of all Khaenri'ah ends up fighting alone? As I understand it - sucks to be a half-blood - but for pure blooded Khaenri'ahns if the curse just gave them eternal life then they're not exactly hurting at the time. So where are they all? Why is their king dying alone? A bit surprised that they don't seem to realize they are cursed at that point but I guess that means it didn't hurt yet? Anyway after the fight in the new region the Captain of the Royal Guard and the Prince / Princess are right there. So what's the excuse for having a regent? Shouldn't Anfortas be like "OH hey - didn't know you were around still. Guess you should be the leader then?" It all seems a bit off.

So, just 'cuz I'm a Kaeya fanboy, I'll go a step further on the crack theory. If Anfortas is Kaeya's grandpa or maybe even actual father, let's say he leaves Kaeya in Mondstadt, and goes to Snezhnaya, becoming one of the Harbingers for "reasons." Whose face haven't we seen yet? Oh right. Capitano. Potential spoilers ahead; I've also seen leaks for a Kaeya outfit in 3.8 that seems more Sumerian in design, though going off of Chlothar's clothes in the Archon Quest, I can now say it also feels kinda Khaenri'ahn, too? Maybe we'll get some more crumbs in 3.8?

Plus genshin has this themathic of giving up Memories to begin a new Life anew, so i think your connections are pretty much on sport👍 Also Nietzsche was a lover of books like that of i remember well. Other than this i think the Power of Evolution Is tried with the Perpetual Energy, like the reaction of the kvahrena Energies with that of the abyss create that Power that makes living beings evolve as annhialation and death are the cause foe Evolution and the continuato on of Life Just like the struggle between Celestia and the abyss. If I may add another tie-in to the Schwanenritter/Swan Knight Lohengrin and Khaenri'ah... - In medieval times, Lohengrin/The Swan Knight was often cited as the progenitor of several noble houses (because... prestige), among which is the House of Brabant, which ruled the Duchy of Brabant, which was located in modern-day Netherlands and Belgium (some provinces in both countries are named after it). - Now, the geographical location Brabant is in, is roughly the same as the Frankish kingdom of Austrasia, which was the original homeland of the (Salian) Franks where they settled after the Germanic migrations around the start of the 4th century AD. A couple of centuries later the Franks would move south to Paris and make that their new stronghold. - The dynasty of Salian Franks that initially settled in Austrasia (modern day Brabant), was the Merovingian dynasty. The dynasty that was home to Frankish kings like Clovis, *Chlothar* and *Caribert.* - Part of the Kingdom of Austrasia's territory stretched all the way to Metz, and even as far as Thuringia in the east. However, their core lands have always been around the river *Rhine,* the stage of Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen, with the Rhinegold and the Rhine Maidens. The Franks and Wagner are more closely connected into Khaenri'ahn lore than we might think.

AH so his voicelines have a lot of variations about being "frozen in time" and such like that, BUT in the first Golden Apple Archipelago event he does explicitly have a line about "wouldn't it be nice if we could age in reverse"!!! ...Which I still don't know what to think about it. But my brain also goes to a reference in Vera's Melancholy about the Silver Age, which seems to be a reference to Greek mythology where in the 'Silver Age' (which takes place between the rule of Cronus and Zeus) where people spend most/hundreds of years of their lives as children. Haven't connected any dots yet but time AND aging is so intriguing in the game

I just watched your video on Vera’s Melancholy before this and you talked in that video about how one of the alien races in the book would eat people's left or right eyes. @jolyners 8 месяцев назад
i am so late to seeing this video bc i finally decided to play through sumeru, and as someone who has, for better or worse, extensively studied arthurian legends, i have come to believe that khaenriah is basically camelot. i disagree with theories saying it is supposed to be more akin to atlantis, since every lore update for it seems to tie it more to norse mythos and camelot overall. to me, dainsleif reminds me very much of mordred and how he must pay penance for sins that are not his own (especially scottish interpretations of mordred). the whole concept of the fallen kingdom is just so inspired by the final war in most arthurian lore, especially as it is an allegory for the failure of ego. even the abyss heralds seem to draw inspiration, if not direct references to, lithograph art of the highlander army from the legends. my take on this is definitely biased in how its been informed, though! i totally agree with the more intangible take on the holy grail that you're speculating, especially since artifact sets tend to have chalices that act as either lore or metaphors of the past (they're even referred to as goblets of eonothem, a pretty clear indicator of time past imo). sorry to ramble in the comments about this! just really glad to see more arthurian interpretations that reinforce my own theories, LOL

Kaeya was lying about being a descendant from pirates, and that all powerful sword was made up to lure out the treasure hoarders. we know he's lying because he initially he said he wore his eyepatch due to his "pirate grandfather"...when in reality the origin of his eyepatch is not pirate related but because he's khaenri'ahn and there's something he's hiding underneath said eyepatch, something we don't know of yet. Diluc also prefaces by saying you can only trust half of what Kaeya says, at best. We know he's the type of person who doesn't mind getting his hands dirty or be sneaky to get to the information/objective he needs. He is the definition of "the end justifies the means". He has displayed this mindset/tendency to keep secrets or hide his true intentions many times through his cutscenes and dialogue. Paimon also emphasizes the mystery behind his eyepatch and that he is 100% hiding something.
