In dialogue between what are alleged to be experienced personnel, the captain should NOT have to tell the comms officer to boost the signal. A good comms officer should SAY he's boosting the signal, so the captain (and audience) will know what's going on. It's not hard to write people this way, it's just that we've all been contaminated by the Star Trek model of shipboard operations.

As with a lot of the other comments, a very strong "Alien" feel to it (nothing wrong with that!). Decent acting, FX work was good. Good suspense, not a huge focus on the alien, creature or whatever it is, but enough to let you get the idea... it's NOT friendly! Nicely done.

As a fan of the Alien series, I thoroughly enjoyed what felt like a well executed tribute to the franchise, with it's own unique touch! The Alien references I noticed were at 3:15 (same alarm sound as on the Nostromo in ALIEN), the fact that the planet they land on is windy af, the helmets picking up a "rogue transmission" (Covenant) and of course the saliva dripping onto the unsuspecting victim. And as another commenter noted, only giving brief glimpses of the creature, leaving you to fill in the blanks so to speak. Well done short by very talented people and clearly fans of ALIEN. Thank you DUST for curating excellent content, as always!

None of those characters should be in charge of a taco cart, let alone a billion dollar spaceship. There's the Corporate Guy who doesn't listen to anyone, The Experienced Guy that no one listens to, the Smart Female, who is also ignored, and the two Guys With Rebellious Attitude who could also be Guys Who Are Obvious Fuckups that are given the important mission. Why are they in a hurry to land in obviously dangerous conditions? Then they land and literally stick two poles in the ground, which could have been done from orbit. Somehow they land next to the only building on the planet, the odds of which are astronomically small. They're 20 feet inside the building when they get attacked and somehow the survivor doesn't go out the front door but deeper inside. Its a bunch of tropes wrapped in cliches that fails to do anything beyond waste the viewers time.

The main thing it lacks in the Alien comparison is the social commentary. Alien took an extremely dim view of the corporation running the show; people died specifically because of decisions it made. So this has some of the surface-level tropes from Alien, but nothing deeper.

Definite 'Alien' feel to it, but in the original film, some of their VFX were cheesy too. The masks they used in med bay and the tubes from Ash's innards - having been a 902xx in the AF, the items were easily recognizable. BUT, with that said, enjoyed it and very much agree with others - flesh it out more and make a full length movie - I'd pay money to see it.

I liked this, thanks but I can't understand why a lot of the space ships in these sci-fi films look just like rusty old , thrown together looking, tanks! Surely by 2125 there will be a bit of nice interior decor and comfort. Even if it is a mining operation mission. By the way: since they have had to go into cryo sleep to get to that planet, it means that everyone back home will be either dead or very old when they get back. I can't believe that anyone would take that kind of a job. If they were astronauts on a mission of exploration , I imagine they might make that sacrifice, but not just to go mining! That's no way to make a living. 🥴

"I can't believe that anyone would take that kind of a job." Any time in human history where there has been a suicide mission or a one way trip there are more people willing to go than there are places to go. Glad I didn't go reading through the comments or it would have ruined what I got. Definitely two times hit with the sound effects I swear they came right from Alien. The buzzing alarm seems to have come straight from the Nostromo, and when they got down to the planet and inside the building the clinking of the chain hanging up just screamed Alien. It was fun and definitely very nostalgic, I would definitely give this an A. And smart decisions of not sending a ship down to the surface when you can't see what's there. I really liked it. Great job on the alien. You used a trick that I haven't seen in modern films. I think it makes it much more scary. Directors like Jack Arnold and Alfred Hitchcock would often use it. The idea was to only give you glimpses of the creature and force your mind to fill in the blanks. The mind can make a simple costume in the dark turn into something much more horrific than any amount of special effects can. Not sure if time was a constraint, but I would suggest giving the audience a little more time to build suspense. Areas like the process of landing, moving through the building. A couple of jump scares that are false like something falling over etc... In all I thought you did a great job.

Okay ... a nice story line until there's TWO story lines. Some alien creature AND some time loop crap? It would've been fine with "faster craft invented after they left Earth got there before them", but nooooooo.

This was visually beautiful. Top class lighting and camera work, great set dressing, sound spot on too. Could you forgive one whinge? Long/mid/close shots on a subject can't be from different sides. Threw me on the bridge with cup-holding guy especially, I thought there were two very similar guys on opposite sides til I figured it out. Hope that's constructive, and again, great job on the quality. More please! 😁

Dust re-distributes independent films with permission/a fee - the company and channel don't directly write, cast, or produce the videos on their platform+channel, at least to my knowledge they don't...? Please don't hesitate to reach out to any of the original groups & producers though! They're most if not always listed in the descriptions!!!!
