I am not a crier and this pain has made me cry hard several times. When I tell you I can’t explain how terrible this pain is. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever felt.

@@kimberlymorgan1767 It's an exercise using a barbell or a Smith Machine. It develops your glutes (butt). The main issue with your sciatica is not the nerve it's weakness in your legs. We need to keep our bodies strong and healthy or our bodies will break down.
I have cured mine with hip thrusts too. I struggled for year and half with mine but once I started doing the exercises in one week I felt the difference, I never stop doing them afterwards.

I'm close to 70😊, and I was shocked to see how many YOUNGER PEOPLE suffer with this nerve pain😮. I thought it only affected the older men and women. It is a PAIN that NO ONE should have to experience... EVER, SOOOO I DO HOPE ALL OF YOU FIND SOME TYPE OF HELP and COMFORT REAL SOON! His diagram on this person's hip area is where mine always is along with my lower back, in the cervical area! It will STOP 🛑 YOU IN YOUR TRACKS AND YOU CAN BARELY MOVE OR WALK, and PAIN is a word that is putting it MILDLY😖😢😬!
Im going through this now. It feels like a hot knife in my butt cheek, coming around my thigh like electric shock and my right knee feels like someone is pulling my kneecap off. The pain is so bad I sweat and throw up. I would not wish this on anyone.
Barbara, as you may know, it's all being caused by disc trouble in the lower back. It will get better but it usually takes about five weeks from start-to-finish to heal completely but the first seven-to-ten days are the worst and after that there will start to be an improvement of about 5% a day to full recovery. In the meantime don't sleep on a mattress, they're too soft, but fold a double quilt in half and sleep on the floor next to the bed - doing that gives far more support to the lower back than any mattress does. Also don't sit on a sofa or easy chair as they're both bad for the lower back but instead sit on a hard dining chair if possible and with a hot water bottle on your lower back (use a hot water bottle on your lower back when sleeping too). When it does get better and the pain has gone it's really important to try to strengthen the lower back otherwise you'll keep getting recurring back trouble and sciatica. A really good way to do that is simply walking as much as possible - preferably up as many steep roads/hills as possible. It's definitely worthwhile doing a specific lower back-strengthening exercise too (have a look on RU-vid to find some good ones) and a bit of stretching if you can. That combination of walking, a lower back-strengthening exercise and a bit of stretching will help you a lot to try to prevent further back problems and sciatica. Good luck anyway.
Hi, thank you so much for putting this video up and to everyone for helpful tips. In addition to simple exercises as demonstrated by amazing professionals uploading to the tube I purchased a massage gun from Amazon. Did attempt to medicate so I could keep working (on my feet all day) plantar developed into knee issues and sciatica. Been four crazy, painful months, not working at present and slowly recovering.
Went through a sciatica flare up last week. It was the worst pain ever! Even labor wasn’t as bad because sciatic nerve pain never lets up. Took two Urgent Care appointments and a pain doctor appointment to get the pain under control. Going in for round two of a spinal injection this Friday. Only temporarily helps, though 😭
He is at the exact same spot on my body that gives me the most pain. It’s like my actual hip, and now it makes sense! The muscle is adhered to the hip bone, and it pinching the nerve! Man I need this done. Maybe I could purchase the shock therapy pads and do this myself! Thanks Doc!
@@soundmind69I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you find some peace and healing and something that helps your specific situation. Have you had an X-ray or MRI?
I just reduced my sciatica pain. I went into a deep quad stretch by hanging a piece of webbing over a pull up bar and put the loop around my right foot. I pull my foot to my butt and then I do a calf raise to collect more webbing. I have about an inch and a half of space under my after the raise. I settle down into the space and stay there for a little bit. It is an unbeliable quad stretch but the magic happened when I started to hinge forward on the good leg. I got the most intense hip joint stretch in the direction of the quad stretch on the bad leg. I will be setting up a full cable stretch station. Unreal, bodyweight solves the issue. Go easy on these.
I’m so done living with this pain. Been to 5 PTs, literally thousands on massage therapy and still in pain. I recently found a Myfofacia therapist who has helped me tremendously
I got terrible sciatica 2 weeks before my holiday and spent £300 on a chiropractor for 5 sessions before my holiday, it did absolutely nothing to reduce the pain. Sciatica comes from your L5 vertebrae i had a 35degree fall off the colum it was affecting both nerves to fix this was a surgical intervention where the holes were drilled bigger give more room for the sciatic nerves to move more freely I was out of pain next day after surgery so I found out that no amount of excorsize or other forms massage would fix it as it was purely a mechanical failure of the nerves ability to move through the openings because the arthritis had coated my bones thickly so surgeons cleaned the bones extra half hour in surgery plus my vertebral column had a 35degree shift they said I had to have this done to avoid having the bigger operation where they put a cage around it I consider myself very thankful and still no pain 2yrs later
Not true there are many conditions that can cause it including SIJD, piriformis syndrome, cluneal nerve ect. Any malfunctioned or tightness or compression to any adductor muscle can cause it. All the adductor muscles overlap each other basically so close together and why it’s so hard to diagnose things in the area. But drs need to do better at helping ppl cause it feels like I’m literally on fire like others have said.
There are several functional stretches which do help perfectly if done frequently. It's so important to avoid long sitting, immobile positions, longtime driving & heavy lifts especially during the Rehabilitation periods.

Could also be phantom pain caused by a herniated disk pinching the sciatic nerve at the lower spine. Makes it feel like the issue is in the glute or anywhere down the leg to the toes. This happened to me and a few people I know. Doctors and physio therapists trying to fix the symptom instead of the cause. Needed an MRI to find out what the real issue was. Years of treatment didn't work till we found out, then only months to fix the herniation, then no more pain and walking like a 95 year old.
There are 2 different types of sciatica: 1 True sciatica which is disc related, 2 False sciatica ( nerve interference or impingement. There are some orthopedic tests to discover which type.

My sister suffered from this, tried everything, finally went to pain management, had 2 injections in hip joint, lasted 3 months. Finally a sonogram showed her hip was bad, nine days ago she had a hip replacement.
I've suffered from sciatica which was relieved by a nerve block. I also just had hip replacement surgery 12 days ago. I hope that your sister's recovery is going along as well as mine is. All my best to your sister and all of us folks who have suffered from nerve pain for one reason or another. 🙏❤
I love how total strangers come together and share their experiences ❤ I had sciatica myself and couldn't do anything practically hated living having to wake up and endure pain the whole day was the worst feeling ever. Couldn't walk or stand for more than a minute, needed support when I had to bend😢 I cried everyday of every minute had a friend refer me to an Orthopedic injected me with block pain after a day or 2 I was good to go.
I have had severe pain the last two days. I decided, while lying on my left hip, painful side up, to sink my fingers into my Butt cheek and just massage deeply with pressure and movement and the agonizing pain is gone! I wish relief for everyone enduring this pain.
I had a double entrapped sciatic nerve in 2020. It was the absolute WORST pain I have EVER FELT. I had 2 giant babies with 0 pain meds and that was a day at the park in comparison. I was literally crawling on the floor screaming for the ambulance. I did 10 days in the hospital on every class A narcotic they had and it wouldn’t touch the pain. It was unimaginable pain. I feel for anyone who has ever felt this horror.
I treated my sciatic nerve pain due to magnesium deficiency with magnesium. It was slow but eventually the cramping ended. Otherwise it would have taken up to a year for it to resolve. There wasn't enough time for atrophy to happen. Atrophy usually leads to the resolution.
I'm going through it right now its been 14 days now. I walk around inside my house my nights in bed are horrible. Help me by letting me know what gentle stretches can I do at home. I dont have insurance so I have not been to the Dr. I had this 6 years ago for 10/11 days and got rid of it on my own. I need prayers 🙏

Heather, is your pain located mainly in your buttock or your lower back?🤔 I feel Most of MY sciatic pain radiating in left leg. It doesn't really hurt to touch my buttock or lower back. I mostly just feel twinges or tingles there. BUT my lower leg and even my foot is like..... OUCH!!!😳
I was suffering from Sciatica when I went into labour and I honestly don't know which was worst...bit possobly the Sciatica ,because at least for most of the labour there was a gap in between contractions .I only really needed the gas and air for the Sciatica 😂
You can actually release the sciatic nerve by deep tissue massaging your inner thigh groin muscle! Somehow that muscle is connected! It hurts like hell and I cried like a baby 😭 but when my PT was done the nerve released within 10minutes and my baby moved off it - I was 6 months pregnant
I had that while working. Very painful. Doctor prescribed me vicodin and muscle relaxers. Couldn't tolerate either one. Chose physical therapy. It worked.

Yo tengo problemas con el nervio ciático, es un dolor que te va subiendo en la cadera derecha sobre la pierna. Necesitamos más personas experimentadas en ese tipo de terapias para calmar el dolor
I started with cortisone shots in the hip bursa on both sides. When that started helping for only a week or two, my rheumatologist sent me to the hospital for a more controlled injection in the groin area on each side. An MRI (without contrast -I have allergic breathing difficulties with the contrast dye) showed bone on bone friction and osteoarthritis. This groin injection helped for more than a year. However, eventually this too, no longer gave enough relief from pain to be worth it. I was referred to an orthopedic surgeon who recommended that I have both hips replaced due to the bone on bone friction and osteoarthritis! I had my right hip replaced with the anterior approach (cut down the top front of hip/thigh) in June 2022. NOTE: I’ve had neuropathy in both feet since 2001. I was told by my surgeon and my nurse at the hospital after surgery that I would NOT be allowed to put weight on my right leg until I saw the physical therapist the morning after surgery. However, the night nurse said it would be fine for me to get up and walk to bathroom within 6 hours of surgery! My upper leg burned, tingled and was excruciatingly painful. The PT was VERY UPSET that the night nurse didn’t follow doctors orders! For 2 years I’ve had severe nerve damage (tingling, burning, pain, numbness & crawling sensation between my knee and hip). The doctor said it would probably go away within 3 months. However, it’s been 2 years and I still have it! I went to a surgeon in OKC for my left hip replacement in June, 2023. This was the posterior procedure, I believe…where the incision is along the outside of the hip and left leg. It was closed up with the zip tie type procedure sutures; which is really cool. I was up and moving around with in-home therapy much quicker with less pain than the previous hip surgery. I had a vacuum pack on that could be removed after a week if there was no drainage or infection. The home health nurse automatically removed it even though there was drainage! Her excuse was it’s on a one week timer and it’s going to shut off anyway! Please note, they were fully aware that I have diabetes and I sometimes get infections after surgery for no apparent reason other than being diabetic! And, unfortunately, to this day, I’m having a great deal of pain in both hips! I’m no longer falling like I was before my hip replacements; but I can’t sleep on either side for more than an hour without waking up in severe pain! It reminds me of my bursa pain when my rheumatologist would press around that area before injecting by bursas! In the last few months, my left leg swells from the knee to the ankle everyday. It’s very weak. It almost feels like there is something wrong with the bone between my knee and ankle. I can’t stand solely on my left leg…the pain is excruciating and my leg buckles under me! I’m taking water PT right now to strengthen the left leg and both hips. I WISH THE SURGEONS WOULD HAVE REMOVED MY BURSAS IN BOTH HIPS DURING THE HIP REPLACEMENT BECAUSE I BELIEVE THIS COULD BE MY PROBLEM! I’VE NEVER HAD A SCIATIC NERVE PROBLEM; BUT I DO HAVE BULGING OR RUPTURED DISCS. COULD THIS BE THE SCIATICA, INFLAMED BURSA OR COULD IT BE FROM MY BULGING OR RUPTURED DISCS? AND HOW DO I FIND OUT? I’VE SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR CHANNEL AND I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU! I WILL PAY FOR A CONSULTATION. THANKS AGAIN.

I also needed surgery to relieve the pain I was suffering. My problem was a disc had displaced and pressed against the nerve. I believe the procedure is called a discectomy. Apparently sciatica can also be caused by the muscles contracting on the nerve. This will eventually relieve itself when the muscles relax. Also very painful!! Basically people who suffer with sciatica are to be pitied and cut a bit of slack. It’s no joke!!

One thing that many women do not know about and I have done sooo much research on this horrific pain IS that many of us around mid 30’s began to have peri-menopause symptoms. What is this? The offset of menopause. It last close to 10 years!!! I am 48 years old and 2 years ago I began to have these horrific back pains… I mean I would do labor pains and not the back pains I get. After much reading, researching, having an MRI it turns out that there is nothing wrong with my back. During peri-menopause women estrogen begins to drop, when this takes place we get spams or dull pain shoot them up your butt and “waking up” your sciatica pain.

@abbygorge4841 Test if its mock sciatica or the actual thing. Lay flat on the bed and lift your leg up as far as you can (the one with the pain) if you can lift it on your own, then it's mock sciatica which is mostly the piriformis muscle in your glute touching the sciatic nerve, or there's an adhesion which is sticking the piriformis to the nerve. A good sports massage therapist should be able to deal with this for you If you can't lift her leg on your own because of pain shooting down the leg, then it's likely full blown sciatica and its the origin of the nerve that needs attention while the glute and leg muscles will need some work too. A combo of sports massage and a chiropractor is your best bet for that When it's very bad, get in a hot shower, let your glutes heat up and apply firm pressure while you massage them. That way you'll warm the muscles and give them length so you can move again. Apply a heat pad after the shower to keep the muscles soft , warm and lengthened That is what I would recommend to my own clients
