Riding Canadian Squamish style MTB trails in the UK! Scolty is all about big slabs, gnarly roots and long MTB trails littered with features. These trails at Banchory really look like they are in Canada but they are actually in the Aberdeenshire area of Scotland (home to many enduro races!)
We rode 3 MTB trails at Scolty Hill in this vlog... typical enduro style trails but with a total unique feel to them. I've never ridden anywhere like this in the UK before that has so many features and slabs while having such long natural trails. Riding here is a proper treat.
Riding with Tam and my brother Gav, this vlog has a mixture of POV footage and clips from looking at features and sessioning them. Granted Remi Metallier and Yoann Barelli's vids probably make these rock slabs look easy but if you don't ride stuff like this everyday it's pretty intimidating! The trails we rode here are a mixture of red and black, with the rock slab features and long rock gardens being on the black options. There were also some really cool wooden bridges and fallen tree features we enjoyed riding. Hard to ride a lot of features blind so on some we stop and have a look at lines before hitting them.
There are loads more trails than we have shown and it's a cracking place to ride and experience. A bit further north in Scotland than the central places however there is loads of riding in the area with Aboyne, Ballater, Drumtochty, Pitfichie and more. All with their own unique style of trails and plenty gnar!
