Man idk I found a 116” long belt x 1/2” thick fits BUT idk if the belt I got was trash because I literally cut my lawn 3 times and the belt smoked it’s self. The belt I found 3 years ago was 116” long but was 5/8 thick and lasted 3 years.
I had a JD D110 with a 42" deck. (biggest piece of crap ever) Bought from Lowes, so I went back there and looked at replacement belts. Found one that said D110 / 42" deck. Put it on and it was about 2" too long. An hour of looking on forums, and found a response that some early D110's had a 2" shorter belt and gave the length. I had to go back and get a third party belt sold by length and it fit perfectly. All the JD and Lowes info only listed the later, longer belt. Good luck with part 2!
Was looking at that deck, it reminded me alot of the X300 deck belt, which they have 2 decks offered in the 42 in configuration, trouble is the serial # doesnt specify,so you end up getting both belts on the way to the job and returning the wrng belt on the way back to the shop or home, you get to be freinds of the big dealers real fast on the commercial machines this way, cant wait to see how your story finishes out on this one
Hartville Hatdware in NY are very knowledgeable about and stock most Deere parts. The 42 Edge deck is the most popular on the X300 but you are correct about different serial number variations.
@@KensSmallEngineRepair out here in Washington state John Deere Corp runs a network of Deere store's rather than a couple of independent store's, Stihl mixed it along with Honda, 1 stop shop for commercial products
Belts have kicked my butt many times. I've found now that when a deck has the tension spring I will remove one end, put the belt on the motor pulley, then use wire pulling poly cord doubled to pull the spring back in place versus muscling the belt on the drive pulley. Not sure if yours have tension spring on deck? also, I hold the old and new belts together to try and compare size when possible.......
An honest mistake but really too bad that it happened. At EP it is rare that a customer supplies parts but it has happened over our 9 years and we were lucky they all worked out fine. The good news is your muscle memory if now tuned to deck removal, belt install and deck install on this unit much easier the 2nd time around eh?
I would have laid the new and old belts out first. Six inches difference would not be had to spot. Did you not get paid for the labor involved putting the wrong belt on the mower? If not, you're in the wrong business! Maybe get a trailer and collect the mower, take it home, repair it, test it, call the customer to get paid, then bring him his mower! Or, in this case, call him to tell him to bring the right belt or authorize you to purchase it. Good luck!
Rest assured I got paid for all of my time, especially when the customer is at fault. I had to prove a point that the belt was wrong as he swore it was right so it was a lesson he paid me for. Thanks for watching!
