This is a short clip demonstrating Modern Fusion Improvisation concepts with an E Minor Pentatonic Scale using different rhythmic groupings. I look at the technical and conceptual aspects of playing these ideas, and demonstrate them over a Mahavishnu Backing Track.
I have played and recorded with musicians as Bassists Michael Manring and Percy Jones, Producers Neil Kernon and David Torn. Keyboardist Jordan Rudess from Dream Theater played on two tunes of my 2001 disc "Addition By Subtraction" as well.

This gives me so much and spice upp my poor improvisations vocabulary - I´m partly a good composer, also was a totally hopeless understanding music theory (also in writing English to) so this is very important to me. (tuning guitar EADGHF - also building my own keyboards - a neutral one, not like the Classical keyboard/piano.)

great lesson Scott... I'm a fan of Mahavishnu...like you I feel comfortable with inside picking...although I m a little frustrated because i cannot reach high speed with the outside picking like many guitarists ....

Thx for that clip. I follow all the theoretics (as I am a big admirer of McLaughlin and Lane), but what really kicks me is your picking speed. You use only alternate picking? What hints could you share the improve picking speed, durage and uniformity?
@mtstyre7768
@mtstyre7768 Месяц назад
Thank you and much appreciated for checking out the material. For some odd groups I might repeat a pick stroke but usually its alternate picking. Try just two strings at a time and move them up and down the neck instead of across to focus in on the picking (start on both down and up strokes to see what works for you) and small excerpts of Violin Studies (memorised) are very good too as exercises to move in all keys and on all string sets. I hope that helps and let's stay in touch.

hay Scott what do you think about the Kiesel Vader 6 string and Carvin amps, tube and solid state, me thinks me get the Vader soon, will be able to work shortly and get decent gear again
