Scottie Pippen is feeling so much hate and anger from ‘The Last Dance’ - Windhorst | First Take 

I'm 55 years old and have been watching NBA since the early eighties (Jordan, Dr J, Bernard King, Mo Cheeks, Bird, Magic, Dominque, many other Hall of Famers.) Of all these players, Scottie Pippen is my favourite. There are a negligent amount of people who would argue against his complete greatness as a basketball player in the NBA. Virtually no one watched "The Last Dance" and came away thinking that Pippen was a glorified role player, or a 'Robin'. At this point in time, Scottie Pippen is the only person who doesn't believe that Scottie Pippen is viewed as one of the greats. Sadly, he's blaming everyone on the planet for it.

It is kind of funny how Rodman seems levelheaded now compared to Pippen. I forgot he called Phil Jackson racist too LOL.

The Documentary actually had us applaud for Scottie more. I dont know what Socttie is smoking smh

The weird thing is, I didn’t have a negative perception of Pippen after watching The Last Dance. After his recent bridge burning, I do.

Everyone Back in the Day Knew Scottie was a Bad Dude but make no Mistake Jordan was on Another Level all his own.

The crazy part is, "The Last Dance" didn't give most people a negative perception of Scottie, but him being a media personality and now going around sounding bitter will be what makes more people not like him. And how long ago was "The last dance"? Why is he still mad? He needs therapy or something...

Isiah said I understand if Jordan, Magic or Bird didn't want me on the Olympic team but Pippen wasn't good enough to have an opinion about it.

Scottie has to remember one thing, when you talk about MJ as it pertains to basketball your words will never be loud enough. Nothing you can say will tarnished the man's reputation!

It's obvious to me that Pippen is now letting out everything he kept inside for all these years, all the frustrations, anger and jealousness towards Michael, it's a sad thing to see and to hear.... Pippen was the best second man on the greatest basketball team in the NBA history, but he never was a player like Michael Jordan, the one who in crucial moments takes the ball and closes the game. It is what it is, the history is written.

Scottie hasn't been the same since his wife left him.

Scottie has let his envy for MJ fester into hate. It's sad thinking that you're friends with someone and then find out they actually hate you even though you give them "props" every chance you get for your success! All of the other guys on the team were the supporting cast to MJ just like everyone is the supporting cast to Lebron, Kobe (after Shaq), Larry Bird, Magic etc...

the problem is that the media constantly comments basketball as if it was an individual sport, while actually it´s a team sport. Giannis was a champion last year, Lebron was a champion other years, and some other guys helped them. It´s like an individual achievement, but it´s not, it´s collective. It´s all messed up.

Imagine someone doing a documentary on the 1980s celtics, and Kevin McHale whining about them paying too much attention to Larry Bird. Or James Worthy complaining about Magic calling him his "best teammate".

This is where Stephen A excels the most. His take on situations like this are the takes i find accurate and entertaining.

The question scottie should ask is what would all those players be without Jordan?

Last Dance made me have a lot more empathy for Scottie. I liked him even more as a result.

I respect Scottie telling his side of the story, even though I think he’s taking it a bit far and at some point he needs to let it go. At the end of the day Scottie is a grown man and that’s beyond any fame, money or basketball status. I didn’t feel like he was portrayed terribly in the documentary but there were some instances where he did come across selfish and a bit weak, based primarily on MJ’s commentary. Pippen has a right to defend himself.

I've seen The Last Dance four times and another time just listening to it all the way through since the music score and mainstream songs are so good. It really never gets old.

The Last Dance is a Michael Jordan documentary and it has a full episode on Scottie alone. I just don't get it man

He willingly participated and volunteered inside information on their historic run. The doc dedicated an entire episode to his development and production on the team. His presence and contributions were numerous and fully acknowledged throughout. He's been recognized as an essential piece of the historic Bulls dynasty.... So now he's whining about how he was portrayed? If anything he is proving MJ right in his estimation of Scottie Pippin's character, in this sad need for attention and validation. Yes, he got screwed signing a long contract for pennies on the dollar, yes, he was integral to their championship runs, and yes, he is a grown man who still pouts over times that his coaches made plays that didn't involve him. He's still a beloved player and a Hall of Famer. Cue the meme of Woody Harrelson wiping his eyes with a wad of cash. I don't like or understand why this negativity is coming out NOW. It's been over a year since it came out, it was obvious that MJ was going to be the main subject of the docu-series, and yet Scottie calls himself "a prop," with supposedly the backing of other outraged teammates, according to excerpts from his book. It's the bitter aftertaste of a guy who still thinks he's undervalued and unappreciated, and he's expecting people to shame Michael Jordan for telling their shared experience through his eyes and the perspective of the media. Pippin has such an inferiority complex for a guy who's had so much success, especially coming from the life he started out with. Whatever, he got a book deal out of this debacle, just like every other washed up celebrity, jilted lover, or mistress. I look forward to buying it for myself when it reaches the bargain bin at my local book store.

Scottie isn’t the teammate of a champion. He is a champion.

If “the Last Dance” was focused on Pippen, and didn’t have much footage of Michael Jordan. That documentary would not have been viewed as much as it was. People wouldn’t have cared as much. So this whole thing about the documentary was supposed to be about the “team”, is bogus. People watched because of MJ. People care because of MJ. Scottie needs to get over it.

Scottie is mad about things he did. The Last Dance didn’t changed how much I respected Scottie. But after this whole situation I’m never going to see him the same way again. He broke my heart a little.

IMO, the biggest thing Scottie is upset about is Michael didn't come to his defense to help him get a new contract. True or not, he believes Michael had the influence to make that happen for him but he chose not to. For a fact, Scottie was way underpaid.

Bought the Ultimate Jordan DVD 📀 twice. First had a silver case. Sent it to my friend in Colorado. The second was a 20th anniversary one in red. Included 5 of his games and got a '88 dunk contest DVD.

Pride gets hurt all the time. Before Randy Savage and Warrior died, all they did was talk bad about Hogan. It's just jealousy and envy. They couldn't be Zack or Slater. They felt they were Screech and Urkel.

He’s hurting because on reflection Pippen realize that he made some really dumb mistakes. A better reaction was to own it and admit that he could have have made other choices. The last shot game is probably the worst. The contract situation probably stings the most because he went against everybody’s advice. Michael Jordan To The Max (2000) was actually the last doc I watched. I saw it after The Last Dance aired. It's a good doc too. Loved that they used two Fatboy Slim songs.

It hurts me to hear Scottie be like this. WE LOVE SCOTTIE. He's an all time great. He's in my personal top ten. I didn't think the documentary made Scottie look bad. There were a couple of fairly minor critiques of Scottie and he seems to be way too sensitive about it. It's a shame, because it doesn't have to be this way. But having said that, it must be super annoying to have to be called "Robin" your whole career and post career. And no doubt Jordan has maybe the biggest ego ever (but he backed it up, so we give him a pass). It would be tiring to be around that. I live outside Chicago. I watched almost every game of those six championship years. All I remember is Jordan praising Scottie over and over.
