My family was part of the stock in France. They immigrated to Quebec by the 18th century. Bless to all my family out there. We’ve been separated but are finding each other again!
Stewarts came to America as early as the 17th century. My sixth great-grandfather was Captain Ralph Stewart. He witnessed his father, James, be burned at the stake by Shawnee indians in 1757. He was eight years old. He was pardoned for murder (long story) in 1773, commissioned a Captain by Lord Dunmore of Virginia (renewed later by Governor Patrick Henry), and fought all throughout the American War of Independence. He fought at the Battle of Point Pleasant in 1774 (the first battle of the American Revolution) and he was at Yorktown when Cornwallis surrendered. He stood guard over the captive general. Ralph married twice, and had thirteen children. He died on November 18, 1835, a month shy of his 86th birthday. Damn good genes, I must say. Love to my fellow Stewarts!
I know my first Stewart ancestor came to the Americas cause he was caught in a rebellion or something against the king of Britain. It was him and his brother. That’s the Stewart on my dads side then I got another Stewart line on my moms side it gets weird🤷🏻♂️
I have a book of our family history dating back to about the year 1000. It's called Stewart's of sequatchie valley tennessee by Mary Stewart Blakemore. There might be some ebay copies available still if anyone is interested in learning our history.

My grandfather, William Charles Stuart, received a royal inheritance, just as did his 2nd wife, upon their marriage as it was held by their parents to be so, made specific in the will. He & Reva were planned births as royalty do, to be wed & the only way either could recieve their shares. Upon grandfather's death, when we held the funeral, people showed up from all over the US, seems like they came from around the world ! Our little town was flooded with family & more wealthy people in 1 place than I'd ever seen in ny life. Just to come & show their respects & honor for the passing of last direct descendant of the Stuart dynasty.

FitzAlan's also were given the name of Cathcart and had Cathcart Castle built above the White Cart River, now known as Linn Park. When the Scottish Stewarts ended, the Cathcart name continued, to this day there is an Earl Cathcart that rents out Sundrum Castle. There is an old tree on the Castle grounds with the name Fitz carved into it high up. The Stewart's are buried at Paisley Abbey.

The line didn't end with Queen Anne, I am a descendant of the Stewarts and very proud of it, even though I am an ancestors of the Douglas' too. I was not there but I can say this, not all of us Stewart descendants were bad, nor were the early Stewarts.....So, I stick my tongue out to those who think they all were or that there are not more of us out here!!!

I'm a Stewart that's a 5th generation new zealander. My great great grandfather landed in Invercargill in the 1890s his name was Alexander James Stewart. His son Reuben stewart served in ww1 and was awarded personally by the French President the highest declaration for gelentry they could award to a Non commissioned officer for saving lives on the somme and few other things. His son served in ww2 at Monte grappa and the Pacific. His son become a fisherman and now im a fisherman. I can trace my heritage back to 1860s to a woman called Mary Stewart from Edinburgh know nothing past that. Anyway morel to the story is pretty proud to be part of the ole Stewart clan.

I legitimately descend from James V and Margaret Tudor (12th great grandparents) , also from James IV by by James V & Margaret Tudor (legitmate line) two mistresses (Margaret Drummond and Agnes Stewart) so James IV is my great grandfather 3 x over. Its sort of wild how many Stewarts and Stuarts are in my family line, primarly because of James IV. I can trace lineage back to the first Stewart and also Robert the Bruce. So many clans in my ancestry, Drummonds, Douglas, Erskine, de Warrene, Campbells, Gordons, seems like i am related to all the nobility of Scotland because of the Stewarts.

Stuart was the French spelling I think and I think it means "Stuard" an older sort of spelling I have seen written means "Caretaker of" or similar. The Irish changed spellings a lot as they lost their own language. Expected to then write in English and understand when they were orators and story tellers. Chang3s the way you think Maybe keep it?

My biological father was a Stewart and although I have as much emotion for him as I do any stranger, I still find the ancestry interesting. I did a DNA test and from my Y-DNA the links are essentially to all Scottish clans from my Fathers DNA. He was 50% Scottish and 50% English My mother has a lot of European and Scandinavian DNA with some Finnish DNA in there too, which I inherited. Even though the amount isn't too high.

It feels weird being a descendant of the family, my grandmother traced it back as far as she could but I don’t even like mentioning it these days when my friends and colleagues mention their family. I feel as though I would seem entitled mentioning it when that is never how I want to come across but I feel that’s all they would see it as.
My great grandmother on my Father's mother's side, her mother line is descended from Walter Stewart the 7th laird. My Great grandmother on my mother's father's side, her father line eventually married a daughter of Robert 2nd. So that's shocking no? Thanks for the vid.

I wonder how many of us in the USA are descendents of my Scots-Irish 4-great grandfather William M. Stewart, a linen weaver. In 1762 he and his wife Annie immigrated to America from Clough, County Antrim, Northern Ireland.
And then there is one American so-called "Stewart Clan", descendents of the Rev. William McCallen Stewart, son of Robert and grandson of that original immigrant William M. Stewart. The Rev. Stewart was my great, great grandfather.
