This video shows how I combined the various scrap buster pieces together on each page. I share how I made the pages and which scrap buster items were used for each element. Thank you for watching and happy creating.
Just thought I would share...I use at least five or more wax stamps throughout my my journals. My journals tend to be right around 250 pages. Hasn't been negative at all. So far all my journals have been highly treasured. I do not have a RU-vid channel. I occasionally post pics on Instagram or Facebook. Love your work. You have given me some new ideas. Thank you!
From what I'm learning from you and about you, it takes you longer because you stop and fix things that you think could be improved on. Adding the flower sticker to her hand was so cool! Maybe I would have thought of adding the flower but I would never have thought of putting it under her hand! You pay attention to even the smallest details. Thank you for sharing! You are a joy to watch!
I have to say I really love your ideas and style all the things you use is what l really love love lace and ribbon and doilies old books and coffee and tea dye paper thank you love all your ideas and work thank you Theola
I love watching the 3 stages you have of this process from the finished book, to one that is halfway there, to one that is blank and you walk us through the process. I'm sure it's tedious and a pain to do these types of videos, but it's good to see how your thoughts behind what you do and why. Thank you for sharing.
I just loved Watching this video. I love seeing your process of how you put things together like the girl and boy and the girl holding the flower. I can’t wait for the next video.
You're welcome Gloria and I just feel bad because my original goal was to create and share quickly for folks who don't have or want to spend lots of time watching videos. Clearly I've obliterated that with this stretch of the series :)
Thanks again for a great video. I would rather have a long, thorough instruction video than one that skates over the details so appreciate your prep and the time you give us. Really looking forward to your Stamperia Forest book 😊. Have a great day
Thank you Elaine and me too! Now that this book is essentially done, my mind keeps going to ideas for that book. First and foremost; what type of spine/hinge do I want to make?
Really loved your journals. You gave me many ideas because sky is the limit for inspired creators and artist. Keep pressing on look forward to the finished product.
Thank you so much Cori, I really really enjoyed watching you create all these amazing and awesome page’s..... I really really love ❤️ watching and listening to you. I really really love ❤️ all the ideas 💡 and tips you’ve shown us all. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Did you ever put up the list of scrap buster ideas so we could take a screen shot. This way we could go back to the video to see how to make the item? I love love love this book and appreciate you doing these ideas for someone like me who gets over whelmed with too many ideas at once. This way I can look at the book and choose an idea to make.
@@CoriDahmen oh gosh, sorry, I found it. I even commented on that video. I just totally forgot. I’m going to write them down right now. Thank you again💗💗💗💗
Hi Cori, thank you so much for all you share with us, I love your style! The range and ingenuity of your scrap busting ideas are just plain awesome 🤩! Your videos are never too long, your preparation and use of muted colours works so well, never say sorry, I’m honoured to be part of your crafty viewers 🦋
Hi Cori, thank you for your always super videos. Tried to order the velcro dots. Cannot buy them in Switzerland,( Amazon does not deliver ) and it would cost 50!! $ to have them sent to my daughter in Germany. Will stick with the magnets, that I found at 0.6mm thickness, and 0.8cm in diameter. The weather here has been, and still is, and will continue, to be cold and rainy, Perfect for crafting.
Thank you for showing step-by-step. Even though I've been doing paper crafting for a long time, I forget some of the things that I've done in the past (and how to make them lol!), so it's a great reminder! I also love seeing how someone else puts things together because I often learn new or better ways to do things. Thanks for sharing!
You are such a delight and so refreshing. I love how organized you are which makes everything go faster. You are very aware of our time, for example, inking off camera. I know that makes your prep time longer but I so appreciate it. I have lots of your videos yet to watch. Thank you so much!
Thank you Kathy and since my goal is to teach and show, it just makes sense (in my tiny brain) to do as much prep work as I can in advance. Not many people have endless time to watch videos, so I try to make them as concise, yet informative, as possible. I am definitely a work in progress 😊
Wow, the level of instruction you’ve provided with these journals is pretty amazing! Please know that you have nothing to apologize for, Cori. Thank you!
@@CoriDahmen Yes, I’m new too! I’ve been a jewelry maker since 2003, but wanted to try something different. I’ve been watching all the junk journalers and paper crafters on YT, and I love them all, but your teaching style is second to none. And I love your esthetic.
Your new version of the spine looks really great. Thank you for all your time and effort to put this beautiful journal together, and to take us on the journey with you!
You’re welcome and that spine is my new favorite to make. This thick-paged book is pretty typical for me, so this type of hinge makes that approach possible.
I absolutely love these journals, I was one who asked about the tiny clips and bought them, thank you for responding so fast to my question…they are so cute
Love your idea books. I’m going to give this a try. I have lots of Tim holtz papers, you know how it is we hoard them but now it’s time to use them for your fabulous idea Thank you💕
No wonder you are tired, Cori. You have done so much tremendous work and preparation just on these scrap buster journals without even considering all of the other tasks. You’re a marvel! I have the same wish as you that I could work faster and achieve more results quicker. However, my wanting “things” right makes me not rush or haphazardly do or place pieces. Maybe over time , I can learn to make changes to this. 🤞🤞😀💞
Isn’t it funny how quickly one idea segues into something totally different than what was originally planned? I’m happy to hear that you;re enjoying it.
Thank you Sue and isn’t that the beauty of our YT world? We can watch when life cooperates. Best wishes to you and I hope your new home and craft space is working beautifully for you 💕
Lol, I am, too! I'm just enjoying watching them and will go back to work through them all later. Still waiting for retirement so I can have more craft time!!
Cori, these journals are amazing.. I love, love, love them!!! I really love watching your videos, you are so thorough and prepared, I appreciate that so very much 💕 I'm starting work on journals for Christmas and am using your videos to help me out, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤ Thank you for sharing your beautiful talent and work with us...such a joy to have you share with us 🥰💕
Thank you Toni and happy creating to you! How wise you are to get started on Christmas gifts now. Please don;t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
Cori this is another fabulous project! I love every piece of it! I agree with one of the other viewers about letting us get a screenshot of the different steps of creating your projects. Can you make that happen for us? Tyfs! ❤
I taught first grade for a few years and man, it is a TON of work! If you like the content, may I suggest starting with making the pieces? They are shown in the scrap buster videos 1-18. Most are very quick and all are first-grader-friendly 😉
@@CoriDahmen Don't get me wrong. I love your work! I just need to learn and practice the basics first. Just simple envelopes, tags, and other embellishments. I have something to look forward to with your videos. Plus, I don't have a sewing machine or scoring board...or decent trimmer yet.
@@lizardas scoring boards are handy, as are trimmers, though there are work arounds for both. But my sewing machine… I wouldn’t want to do without that! Maybe FB marketplace or offer up or Craig’slist. Whatever your area has that is handy.
I will list these two books on Etsy after the last video in this series. My shop is etsy.com/shop/CreatingWithScraps. Thank you for your interest and kind comments.
LOL! Proof as to how tired I was when making this video. I generally use a flat-edged knife to lift the edge of the tape. But thank you as a pokey tool works well also!
Hello Cori, I've been following this serie of videos since you started sharing your scrap buster ideas and I think every chapter is inpirational, I'm making my own ideas book now, thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!! What's the name of the Tim Holtz collection you used in the new book you are making?
I’ve been using a lot of paper from Memoranda, but I also have some from Correspondence, French Industrial and Wallflower. I truly use scraps all the time!
Thank you. I occasionally sell them in my etsy shop, but not very often. My shop was made to buy books for my students, so I stock it when I need to go book shopping :)
Thank you so MUCH for the videos/inspiration! Love your attention to detail! I'm on page 5/6!! Having a wicked-creative-blast!! Do you have Instagram? Oh dear, when you took out the Hero Arts Old French Writing stamp! I said NO-way!! Yup, 2002! I began stamping in 1998! Memories....
Wow! I guess I'm going to have to start at the beginning with flip flops and then work my way through scrap buster ideas. Cuz actually adding all the stuff in the book there isn't any playlist to where to go to make these items that you're putting in the book. Is there any way that you can add the playlist? Of all the scrap busters or flip flaps that you used in your tutorials. It's really hard trying to find what you're adding to the first few pages to go back and try to make them. Unless all of the scrap buster ideas and flip flap n folds are in it.. help im stuck.
Hi. There is a play list for both flips, flaps and folds and scrap busters. I began with the videos of making the items, then added the covers and spines so that they would make sense when I went through each page. It might help by beginning with the scrap buster items. The videos are numbered 1 through 18 for the pieces that are used on each page.
Sure! Most of the page bases in these journals came from the 12” x 12” Tim Holtz paper pads. I’ve used Memoranda and Wildflower most often, but there are some pieces from French Industrial and Collections(?) used as well.
There are two parts to the cover: Scrap Buster idea book; making the cover part 1 and 2. The next video is Scrap Buster Idea Book; adding the signatures. I hope that helps!
