“Health and Safety Manager” walks into the yard with no hard-hat! The only one who I have seen wearing a hard-hat so far was the External Examiner in Episode 2! 😂
Not being funny right but Chris only had one can... he isn't operating any machines he just disassembles cars, hardly a dangerous task yet boyle's done a countless amount of dangerous stuff not only that but if you go to most garages you will see some mechanics smoke while working on cars, i would rather a mechanic take a swig of ONE can than smoke a cigarette near a car that runs on petrol lol.
I remember when I was young with my first car--going to the garage to have my A/C diagnosed, and the guy was smoking around my car while explaining me his diagnosis. Then I lit up a smoke, and he goes "There's flammable gas, so I'm careful where I smoke...you should probably smoke outside" I know R12 was flammable, but after that I lost a LOT of respect for mechanics. I do most of my work on my own, and yeah...I don't like to see smoking in garages either.
Jemma has no problems reporting an employee drinking straight to her dad but can't pick up a camera to take a photo of a car a customer wants to know about.
You try scrubbing engine oil off your face when you're tired af after a long shift, they're men in a scrapyard not girls in an office, notice how their hi-vis' are caked in oil? Or is that eye shadow and mascara to you? Oil is a pain to remove and they're just gonna get as grimey the next day princess.
The two dinner ladies are the two nicest People in this program they always have a joke and a laugh (( And they will feed ya as long as you pay them back when you get money (( There food looks to be very nice and the cafe is spotless inside very well kept (( God bless ladies -
Sacking Chris was pretty harsh in my opinion. Recall he was taken on 8 years ago even though he had a criminal record. He seems like a nice, good tempered guy. Drinks once and gets shown the door. Meanwhile that Boyle lad stacks up one thing after another and gets to stay. Unfair!
Multi million pound company. Can’t afford to pay wages, drives a Hyundai and has worked his way up to going to Tenerife for a holiday. Classic Bolton lad 😂😂😂
The sacking of Chris without any support for a possible addiction problem or the fact he's been there for so long is outrageous. There's no compassion, just stoopid wide sweeping health and safety laws that see no inbetweens. They know he has a family and kids. These people only think about themselves, what happened to community spirit?
its chris fault he chose to do what he did so he can accept getting firered.you got to understand its not the company fault and chris became a liability to the company.
Personally think Terry is a complete crook, he seems to run the business week to week with no planning and runs around the yard interfering in what everyone is doing while his spoilt kids and wife are taking the piss, in the first episode they talk about not having the money in the bank to pay staff wages you can’t operate a business like that, he either has to pay staff or lay them off it’s not pocket money his giving his kids that he can decide on weekly. Chris’s incident is a prime example thinking he was going to be sent home because it was quiet, can’t run a business sending people home at short notice because it’s a bit quiet that day
@@GrahamMM7 it’s Tv world… terry openly admitted after the show ended that some of what we saw wasn’t factual do you really think he could of sustained his business for 20plus years every week struggling to find the boys wages. Do get too worked up as it was for the show they don’t do too bad with a big house and multiple holidays a year pal
It's entirely fair. These are ruffians and they've no where else to go. Can't be ANY intentional breaking of yard rules or there will be chaos and everyone unemployed. I feel bad for guys like Chris. Life is a series of events that just happen to them. If he was smart he could float a plan to the boss to get his job back. But if he was smart he wouldn't have been there in the first place, nor been drinking. I don't have the answers.
He let him work the weekends and probably went back to full time. Chris is best mates with the owner and had worked with him for 8 years. People make mistakes and so did the owner sacking him. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tEKgAhrxbaw.html
Prepperjon yes when the employee is loyal and reliable, consideration should be made. This isn’t building rockets or neuroscience...it’s a scrap yard and all those lads have criminal history. I say “come on, give him a pass one time. If he screws up again, then Sacked” look at it another way...he had an upper hand over everybody. Sacking Chris used it up lol.
cool show, episode 1 just aired here in australia. One thing though, i cannot understand one word from the daughters mouth...............subtitles please
I'm an Alaskan and I can't understand a word she says. I have close caption and it can't translate either. Honestly I'm lucky if I can follow 75% - 90% of the conversation for the whole show. I like the series though. I like working class people the world over.
Blame it on the insurance company's. We were the same in the tunnel game, 2 or three pints, a pie or a steak sandwich for lunch. Another 3 or 4 pints after work, home quick dinner and then we went out for a proper drink. Sound. At the w/e we went on the piss.
Chris is the sort of bloke that would hear bad news and have no other feelings but to commit suicide. I'd love to know where he is today, and what he's up to.
I feel for that guy. He shouldn't have been drinking in the first place. I would of have a stern talk with him and have him sign a no drinking agreement.
You already sign one of them when you take up the position. It’s kinda sad but at the same time the guy is old enough and experienced enough to know it ain’t a laughing matter and being fired is the most likely outcome. If you need a drink that badly just go home or wait till your shift is done. But odds are if you need a drink that badly in the middle of the day that it’s worth losing your job you probs need AA more than anything
graham moore no it’s not because how can a car they took to sell on the car lot have had one owner and passed an mot for 2009 I think with no advisories and still had I think he said 8 months. Mot left and only had 36,000 on the clock he said so during this program that’s why they couldn’t understand how it had ended up being at the scrap yard as scrap so they kept it and sold it as working car if it was 2005 and at the end of episodes says at the end coming up next boomers an that’s a recent drama series of the bbc only out few years ago then how could it be 2005 it was out in 2010
I think it is her also they edited it wrong like you said and also I’ve commented this too as that girl looks the spit of the mum and I hope people know we mean the lady opposite the daughter on the phone and not the actual daughter
Terry started the yard then met the gold digger a few years later, I always got the impression Lyndsey [gold-digger] was there before the yard, she's got more than one finger in that pie, that's for damn sure.
Chris sacking was a bit harsh. One can doesn't intoxicate anyone. He could have at least had a warning or something but I wonder who squealed on him. They probably just used it as an excuse to get rid of him.
