I’m a pool repair technician and installer, so I’d like to educate you a bit here. 1-the “filter part” isn’t a filter at all. It’s the Volute. 2- It isn’t made of plastic, it’s made of fiberglass. 3-you have to remove the impeller from the motor shaft to remove the motor mount. 4-the diffuser screws are not stainless steel. They are aluminum.

#2 copper from motor was 3.25lbs. I wish I found 1 a day!
@McArnold4444
I found a similar one of these pool pumps the other day and sold it as a copper motor (35lbs) without processing it for $9.82. The scrap yard was even nice enough to give me a break because I didn't take off the plastic surrounding the motor or the encasing. I asked beforehand and the boss said this time he will take it but next time it is preferable to take off the plastic and steel encasing as I am a regular there. For the time spent processing to get 3 lbs of copper for roughly $12, I'm glad I sold the one I found as is without spending any time processing. Time is money friend. The insight is great as by watching your video I was able to answer my question as to how much copper roughly is in the pool pump and whether it is really worth time processing or scrapping it as is whole to begin with

Excellent! Lovely copper motor! Sadly here in not so warm England I don't come across pool motors but get pretty lucky on other motors. I can recycle my hard plastic from scrapping at the local recycling centre but, if the bin is full, then it gets sent into the other bins🤦‍♀️. Worldwide there needs to be a better effort into recycling heavy plastic that's for sure!!

The other end of the motor that black round thing unscrews it is threaded then you could’ve got the other end of the motor off the other cast end. I Enjoy your videos.

my friend dropped off 4 huge haywards to take to the scrapyard. is it better money to break them down?

Hi dear scrap friend! Your videos are very helpful and educational for beginners like me. I recently attempted to disassemble a Chinese manufacturer's filter pump and failed with the motor because the entire motor was poured thick with epoxy - hard as reinforced concrete. how can i remove it gently? Thank you!

Pool motor cases are made of steel not tin. If you get 2 1/2 lbs. Of copper at 3.00 per pound, that's $7.50. Recyclers give that or more fot the complete motor. Your wasting your time.
